That is a great hike. That last climb up to Showers Lake always tires me out. I especially like it during the summer when the wildflowers are blooming. Carson Pass has so many great hikes. Thank you for sharing you trip.

Funny you say that, my boy and I are shooting to d a section hike later this year and I cant wait. I never realized that I do some of my day hiking on the trail. I need to get a map and see what portions are in this area. I still fairly new to this hiking stuff and LOVE it. Just started being serious last year. I cant image my life without it now.

We all do it. I just cant hide it as much as others lol. The hard part for me is I am starting off at a high elevation to start with, so a 1300 ft gain gets to my lungs. I am working on getting in as many as I can this spring/summer so my videos in October I wont be breathing heavy :) Glad I made you smile!

I do to, I think it is a more traveled trail because a lot of thru hiker use it on the PCT. We did see a handful of groups but never felt it was overly crowded.
I sometimes forget how lucky I am to have such beautiful trails. This year I am going to concentrate on enjoying what god has giving us and not taking it for grant. Thanks you!

I am pretty excited that my son and I will be doing a section hike at the end of the summer on the PCT. With the fish we saw, you would need to catch a 100 of them to have a meal haha

Funny story.. I have always dreamed of hiking the PCT or the APT. I never realized that I do some portions of it on a lot of my hikes. I need to get a map of my area and see where it runs. Thank you for watching. I could only image the amazing videos you could produce from this area
Love the big car park and the big map, nobody getting lost on that trail. Great hike and despite the full sun and blues skies and T Shirts, still a bit of winter snow still around and yep, those views certainly made me feel like dancing too 😂. I have a UA-cam friend in the UK who is saving to do the PCT in a couple of years, so sure is in for a treat (long treat I think). When you said you were thinking of having a dip, I though you would have put a bathing costume on first - nearly wet clothes crossing the river😂. Now if you wanted a swim Showers Lake was a the place to do it, so serine and peaceful, cheers Alan
I wont say nobody lol, I am sure someone has. Your friend is going to love this trail! It is so beautiful here. The lakes are crystal clear blue. The people you find on the trail are so kind. Well this was in June of this last year. Right now the whole trail is covered in snow. I have so many trails I haven't shared cause I was so busy with work and the virus. Another nice adventure. I thought we were going to see Kathy take a bath at 4:43. Be careful! That would be a heck of a place to injure yourself. They'd probably have to send a helicopter to get you. Nice to see the PCT again. I worked as trail maintenance on the PCT not too far from there in the Klamath National Forest in 1983. You should do an episode exploring the Marble Mountain Wilderness. That would bring back some memories for me. Stay safe.
lol right! Thank goodness it wasn't running fast. My damn knee is acting up again. I see the surgeon on Thursday. I am not happy. I never realized that I hike sections of the PCT all summer long. @@KathysOutdoorAdventures I have always wanted to hike back into those mountains. I worked as a volunteer the summer of '83 for the Forestry Department out of Happy Camp, CA. It was only 2 weeks but was really a great experience. I've never been back and doubt I could make that climb now. There are videos of people exploring the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area but they never go to Snyder Lake and Tichnor Lake which were the 2 lakes I spent most of my time at fishing. I have watched them all and someone needs to get video of those 2 lakes for me. Maybe we can make this happen one day.
It was June :). I have a ton of video I have not posted cause when I am not working I am out hiking. So I am trying to edit and get up all the hikes I have done. I do put a note in when it was hiked in the description. I cant wait to get back up there there spring.
Went in mid July and the flowers on that steep climb right before Showers were chest high. Flowers everywhere! It was so incredible (except it was really hot that day!)

Flowers everywhere, especially where the creeks are, but all over -so many different kinds and every color you can think of. Also butterflies in the damp areas. Even on that first desert like switchback “hill” before Meiss lake there were flowers. Then I went back the following weekend and hiked over to Winnemucca lake. So many flowers there too, but The hike to Meiss meadow and Showers was spectacular. I really appreciate your videos. Thank you!

I have lived here for over 46 years but shhhh that tells my age :) Sadly I didn't really start hiking til about 2 years ago. Now I cant get enough of it. I love exploring new trails and repeating old ones.
This video just kicked up my cabin Fever a notch! You always take us to the most amazing places. I'm starting to think your really just on a treadmill in front of a green screen. 🤣jk. What camera are you using? Great stability!
Hahaha you are so funny! I don't think I could stay on a treadmill. I realize now that I have a YT channel and watch other hiking channels that I am very lucky with the beautiful trails I hike on. My big secret is, I use my iphone 11pro with a gimbal (half the time I just use my phone hand held) I use to carry my DSLR and it was just to heavy for longer hikes.
I use my iphone 12 and just hold it with my hands. I have all the fancy stuff but sometimes to much stuff makes it so complicated. Thanks for all the comments today
It would be the perfect place for sure. You can get a permit online for the overnight sites by the lake and make sure you have a $8 parking pass for your car to stay over night. We saw many backpackers set up there. If you come let me know. Maybe a few of us could get together and do it

Great hike and despite the full sun and blues skies and T Shirts, still a bit of winter snow still around and yep, those views certainly made me feel like dancing too 😂. I have a UA-cam friend in the UK who is saving to do the PCT in a couple of years, so sure is in for a treat (long treat I think). When you said you were thinking of having a dip, I though you would have put a bathing costume on first - nearly wet clothes crossing the river😂. Now if you wanted a swim Showers Lake was a the place to do it, so serine and peaceful, cheers Alan
I wont say nobody lol, I am sure someone has. Your friend is going to love this trail! It is so beautiful here. The lakes are crystal clear blue. The people you find on the trail are so kind. Well this was in June of this last year. Right now the whole trail is covered in snow. I have so many trails I haven't shared cause I was so busy with work and the virus. I was thinking about doing it in the first pond we found lol. Crazy huh? My goal is so do as much of the PCT I can than head your way and do some of the AT. I might be 60 by the time I make it your way haha

It was perfect cause it was a hot day and we were into about the 4.5 mile point. The area is beautiful
Another nice adventure. I thought we were going to see Kathy take a bath at 4:43. Be careful! That would be a heck of a place to injure yourself. They'd probably have to send a helicopter to get you. Nice to see the PCT again. I worked as trail maintenance on the PCT not too far from there in the Klamath National Forest in 1983. You should do an episode exploring the Marble Mountain Wilderness. That would bring back some memories for me. Stay safe.
lol right! Thank goodness it wasn't running fast. My damn knee is acting up again. I see the surgeon on Thursday. I am not happy. I never realized that I hike sections of the PCT all summer long. I would love to see some of your pictures from back than. Ill have to look that one up and maybe I can do it for you and you could join me Thanks Roy!
@@KathysOutdoorAdventures I have always wanted to hike back into those mountains. I worked as a volunteer the summer of '83 for the Forestry Department out of Happy Camp, CA. It was only 2 weeks but was really a great experience. I've never been back and doubt I could make that climb now. There are videos of people exploring the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area but they never go to Snyder Lake and Tichnor Lake which were the 2 lakes I spent most of my time at fishing. I have watched them all and someone needs to get video of those 2 lakes for me. Maybe we can make this happen one day.

It was June :). I have a ton of video I have not posted cause when I am not working I am out hiking. So I am trying to edit and get up all the hikes I have done. I do put a note in when it was hiked in the description. I cant wait to get back up there there spring.

Went in mid July and the flowers on that steep climb right before Showers were chest high. Flowers everywhere! It was so incredible (except it was really hot that day!)

@@KathysOutdoorAdventures I believe it was around the 17th of July last year when I went. Flowers everywhere, especially where the creeks are, but all over -so many different kinds and every color you can think of. Also butterflies in the damp areas. Even on that first desert like switchback “hill” before Meiss lake there were flowers.
Then I went back the following weekend and hiked over to Winnemucca lake. So many flowers there too, but The hike to Meiss meadow and Showers was spectacular. I really appreciate your videos. Thank you!

I have lived here for over 46 years but shhhh that tells my age :) Sadly I didn't really start hiking til about 2 years ago. Now I cant get enough of it. I love exploring new trails and repeating old ones.

Hahaha you are so funny! I don't think I could stay on a treadmill. I realize now that I have a YT channel and watch other hiking channels that I am very lucky with the beautiful trails I hike on. My big secret is, I use my iphone 11pro with a gimbal (half the time I just use my phone hand held) I use to carry my DSLR and it was just to heavy for longer hikes.

I use my iphone 12 and just hold it with my hands. I have all the fancy stuff but sometimes to much stuff makes it so complicated. Thanks for all the comments today
This is such a perfect distance and elevation for me!! It allows time to soak it all in. What are the backpacking rules in these areas Kathy?
It would be the perfect place for sure. You can get a permit online for the overnight sites by the lake and make sure you have a $8 parking pass for your car to stay over night. We saw many backpackers set up there. If you come let me know. Maybe a few of us could get together and do it
