I learned to play without a pick because every time I tried to use one, it goes flying away, or I slip and drop it. So I preferred finger strumming. But when I strum, my fingers do a formation as if I'm holding a pick... :D

I’ve been subscribed to WAY too many guitar lesson channels. I would recommend people stick with a couple (Tomas Michaud being one of them) if you have too many, it’s only going to confuse you and slow your progress....trust me on this. Thanks Tomas. I strum with my thumb and do fingerpicking, but it depends on the hymn or song I am playing. I never ever use a pick at all. I prefer the softer sound of thumb strumming with low action, and lean toward ballads and mellow songs. Appreciate you sharing your technique. Thank you, Sir.
