The TL431 is an 'old' friend so to speak - found in most Chinese switch-mode PSUs feed-back channels these days, and allows for tweaking the final output quite a bit. Yes. This would directl, adjust the charge voltage and use ahigher input voltage. I used this with a 18V Li-Ion battery with 24V input. That is coming later tody.

Good video and helpful. What if you wanted to make a 12V Li-onP4 charger using 16850 cells. Would your circuit work?
