@Retain your seed and be a king same here. He’s always been a huge inspiration but I never knew why until I got diagnosed with bipolar 1 and severe panic attacks. Now he’s even a bigger inspiration Bc look how far he came, he never let his mental health stop him from chasing his dream, he always believed in himself when literally no one else did. Ye is forever the goat and knowing his struggle with mental health just makes his accomplishments even better

I agree. That may be part of his bipolar. The brain does not function the same as people without bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is different for everyone but in some people it does have the capacity to affect how you think, talk, perceive and react to things which makes sense because it is a disease of the brain.

I believe throwing himself into his art is the only way he has dealt with it.
He is a fantastic artist and person, but he must understand that, why this Maybe out of his control, he must find the fortitude to look for a therapist compartible with his values that he can. and must trust, to help him deal with it safely and productively.
I wish him the utmost success and the very best in life.

@XSilentWizardX I've met many bipolar people before. Kanye may be bipolar BUT he is AN EXTREME NARCISSIST FIRST AND FOREMOST. Please educate yourself on "abusive narcissism" before you are duped again by a narcissist in real life. Kanye uses "Bipolar" the description for a mental illness as an attempt to overshadow and dismiss the blantently obvious real problem- his disgusting arrogance, delusional inflated ego and abusive narcissism. Those who disagree need to educate themselves on Narcissistic Personality Disorder. People with NPD are not victims ..they victimize and actively try to humiliate others amongst other kinds of abuse. He's just manipulating the public (and you) here (another trait of NPD-manipilation). It's sick how many uneducated ppl idolize this, over allll the other positive black male superstars.

Regardless of how hard it gets, when we lose him to the mania and the psychosis and all that remains of my brother is his outer shell, he always comes back to us, we have to fight so hard to get him back each time it takes longer but myself and our family love him so unconditionally and as long as anyone with bipolar has a strong support system they will thrive.

Seeing yourself separate from an illness encourages people to seek help faster, heal better, and break stigma for others xo

Also there are so many people worse off than him that need help, he has plenty of opportunity and means to get help. Most people don't.

This interview is great because it truly embraces Kanye for who is as a person. In times like today where media controls a lot of what we think and say, the overall vibe of this section is how we need to approach people in general, regardless of if they are friends or foes. I love Kanye because he loves himself and he is one of the only truly positive and genuine people in this world that actually give a damn about his passions and people that he holds dear. I hate to frame it this way, but I can't wait to see how the world will view Kanye when he's gone because sometimes it's hazy in the moment of his actions but when it happens, people will start to truly appreciate Kanye and will use him as a figure for the youth and those that aren't in power with themselves, whether that be from mental illness or lack of motivation. I am so glad that I live at this time period where Kanye has done so much and impacted so many people and has impacted me at such a young age where I can get inspired by him and still continue to grow. Thank you Kanye for showing me that the world isn't just black and white but is a rainbow of excellence and if we unite together, we can create something beautiful that my kids and their kids will show and pass on.

I don't agree with him on much, but if you are not bipolar, you just can't imagine what our brains are like - on and off meds. His album title is 100% true, it gives us some experiences no one else has (natural euphoric mania is a high no drug can come close to). I don't like his politics, but for him to live his life so publicly, gives America an understanding of mania like y'all have not had before. He's not someone I want representing me politically, but he is an amazing artist and his creative mind deserves respect. I wish he wouldn't romanticize his mania, but I do the same... God bless you, Kanye, for being an authentic and inspiring voice for bipolar people.

I know nobody finna read all this but idc anyways...
I HATE SEEING COMMENTS SAYING HES EGOTISTICAL AND NARCISSISTIC because I bet you not even 10% of people in this comment section know that Kanye was doubted since day one. when he first started rapping nobody wanted to sign him or work with him because he was known for being a producer , his only supporter was his mother and she died shortly after his rise to superstardom. And that’s the mindset that got him this successful that’s the mindset that won him 22 Grammys and look now he’s the most influential artist of all time. If everybody around you doubted you then it’d be nothing but fair and expected for you to have a mindset like that cause why wouldn’t u,how else are you going to progress and prosper. Why would you condone and believe all that negativity. Kanye turned all of that into positivity with that mindset. Who else is going to believe in you harder than yourself..nobody. And to the ppl who hate on him for having that mindset are literal proof of why he needs that mindset because after all his accomplishments and success ppl still find a way to downgrade and diminish what he stands for and how far he’s come. it’s insecure ppl like you guys who try to hate on others confidence and success just because you wish you were that confident. Ok I’m down now enjoy your day.

Breaking stigmas? He's causing them. I've met many bipolar people before. He may be bipolar BUT he is AN EXTREME NARCISSIST FIRST AND FOREMOST. He uses "Bipolar" the description for a mental illness as an attempt to overshadow and dismiss the blantently obvious real problem- his disgusting arrogance, delusional inflated ego and abusive narcissism. Those who disagree need to educate themselves on Narcissistic Personality Disorder. People with NPD are not victims ..they victimize and actively try to humiliate others amongst other kinds of abuse. He's just manipulating the public (and you) here-which is another trait of NPD-manipation. He's openly psychologically abusive to other celebrities (using humiliation) It's sick how many uneducated ppl idolize this. They won't when they are duped by an abusive Narcissist in their own life. That's when they'll look up NPD, when it's too late.

I am not a Kim fan either but I do admire her strength and support for him as this illness is a family destroyer.

Kanye was trying to say some important stuff and the host just kept trying to find a punchline.
I would love to hear more about what Kanye has to say about mental health in men and the black community, and how his mum dealt with him as a child and helped his gifts to flourish.

"I hate being bipolar; it's awesome!" was an internet meme for a hot minute. I remember seeing it and sharing it like yep that's me. Probably like 4 yrs ago. Great album title and for bringing awareness.

I would like to show some support here too. I have mad respect for him to talk about his BD publicly, mad respect. This is something extremely brave to do, it's important for him as well as for the rest of us who are concerned by that. I'm impressed and I feel kinda proud for him, I have to say 😅

Im glad he is open to talk about mental health because I have horrible anxiety and depression and people who dont have that always act like I need to just get a grip on myself and get my emotions under control wish it was that easy

Kanye is an inspiration. Keep up the good work! So many are suffering. There is definitely a lack of understanding about certain brain disorders in the African American community. Good point. Kanye was helpful to shine some light on a very important issue. Love you Kanye!

My extremes came from trauma, rather than birth. They are my drive, where my best ideas and experiences come from. Talking about it is the healthiest way to embrace it.

Sonja Dawn Now, something that is DEFINITELY NOT talked about is emotional and psychological consequences of trauma. A car accident has permanently changed my wife, it’s part and parcel to PTSD, which we only seem to have programs for our brave soldiers.

Simone Price I also have PTSD, when I was diagnosed, I actually laughed and said only soldiers have PTSD. Hopefully that will change and people will begin to realise they can have PTSD without having gone to war.

It looks like he has it so together here. Balance and stability. Even has the ability to laugh at himself. And of course still talented. “Ain’t no shame in the medicine game”!

Mental illness is awful, I'd rather have a physical disease over not being able to go outside to even check my mail sometimes. Growing up I ignored my mental illness and convinced myself I was strong willed but I think I was doing a lot more harm than good and over time my brain snapped and I went from being an outgoing person who could handle stress rather well to being the absolute opposite literally over night. I can't go shopping or stand in line at a convenience store without feeling like I'm having a heart attack. I can't sit in a car or a bus and the worst part is that I can't travel to the Dr's to even get it treated. I'm so scared all the time and I live alone so idk how to get help even tho I am rather desperate.
