I caught one outside the house when my little girl was just two and used to play out the front of the house. I thought it was around 1 metre but it was almost double that! Gave it to the local snake catcher and he gave me a large diamond python to rid the house of rats - the reason the red-bellied black was living close to the house.
Fantastic footage. I've seem old still pics of them swallowing eels but no action shots.

The Red Belly can be, and is, found well away from water. They prefer the damp but it is not an absolute by any means.
The one I caught in my front yard proves what you say - we lived many miles from water.
Beautiful sleek looking snake!
good vid and info
RBB one of my favorites, but wide berth with an Easter Brown
@@findmyaustralia3767 oh yes! Sadly it's not well known the RBB is an assassin of the Common Brown

I live in an area with a high percentage of red belly blacks... found them pretty chill out....not aggressive as Browns... apparently keep Browns away...!👍
you havent met many then - they are agressive and will chase ! = i lived in coff`s harbour bush 5 years - your statement is flawed !
