I got my book, there is no CD this time, it's almost the same book with the information needed, just left out the CD and charged the same or higher price depending where you got it.

With the state of things around the world as they are (Putin, CCP, N.Korea, Iran and the possibility of even terrorists groups being supplied with nukes to truck onto US soil via our open border policies)all that in combination with the fact that our President is totally oblivious; I figure this is the closest to another world war we've seen since WW2, and its best to prepare for the worst. Thus I'm just now started the process of learning about Amateur Radio. I plan to get my Technician License and a radio in the near future hopefully. I noticed the FT5DR Digital Mobile Radio that was shown in this video; I'm assuming this is considered a good radio? Is anyone else concerned about radio's made in China? Especially Digital Radios. All Chinese made radios (and other necessary products) may contain very weak EMF susceptible chips and or programming that is designed to fail whenever the CCP wants them too. I'm sure that the CCP has plans that involve the taking out of our commutation abilities, and I'm also 100% sure that the CCP can't be trusted; should we trust them to manufacture our radios? What would be the safest portable radio to purchase: Digital or Anolog, a radio that might survive an EMP hit? Is it worth keeping a Tube Radio? Just wondering 🤔 I just want it to make sure I own a radio that works in the event of who knows whatever what.

If you are worried about EMP. Purchase a transceiver, leave it in the box and wrap it with aluminum foil like you would a present. The foil will act as a faraday cage protecting it from the Compton effect that fries computer chips.
My favorite doomsday radio is a Yeasu FT-818 All-band, All-mode QRP transceiver. If the SHTF, there will be loads of 12V batteries to power it from.
During the Starfish Prime EMP test in 1962, some tube-type transmitters and receivers were affected, although they were generally pretty resilient.
To my knowledge, the Yeasu transcievers are made in Japan, but the batteries come from China.

@@RedWagonTechnology I'll have to look into that FT-818. From Ebay I just pick up a 2nd Hand radio; I purchased it only yesterday and it just showed up in the mail today! I grabbed a Yaesu FT-60R. Obviously I'm learning still and very much a novice, but I think it's an older model because this FT-60 radio has a the DC charging port on the side of the radio and it also came with wall outlet AC/DC 12v 2A power supply that has a 4mm plug that both powers up and charges the 7.2v Ni-Mh battery pack. I'm hoping to charge my FT-60R from that side port in the field?
I also just purchased an "Off Grid Trek 28.5w Solar Blanket" that has a DC5521 port coming from the solar blanket. I'm trying to figure out if the Off Grid Trek 28.5w solar blanket will directly power or charge my FT-60R from that DC5521outlet? If not then I think I can charge my Sherpa 100AC from the power blanket's DC5521 outlet and then charge my Yaesu FT-60R from the Sherpa AC outlet.
Thanks for the tin foil advice, I've got plenty of hats I can hide my Yaesu FT-60R under 😁

Please eliminate the background music. Otherwise these are great.
