Being a DEI hire is not a thing. Diversity Equity and Inclusion HR programs look to cast a broader net to ensure exposure to a more diverse view points, but no one is hired just because they are of a different race, nationality, etc to the exclusion of skill and competency. The entire weight shifts if you allow Trump to answer a question with a question. It is a chess move to get you on the spot, accountable for your words, not his, and it allows him to then get you riled up enough for him to unload on you.
