The stationmaster's building looked familiar and when I went back to near there today it was where I thought it was which was near, Middle Gorge station. Is where the old station used to be the grassland and dirt area just in front of it at the back of the house as I think that area is fenced off now so not sure if its still accessible. I would love to check it out but not sure if you can still get to that area.
I remember the old line quite well. At the time it was closed it seemed very short sighted. There was the promise to extend it back to Epping. But we could see the growth of Melbourne. They were even EXTENDING the broad gauge from Ferntree Gully to Emerald ( only got to Belgrave as it turns out). So it could have been easily predicted that the whole line to Whittlesea would be needed in the near future.
i pass this area when going to school. and i really wish i explored more before they started building it! i didn't realise that was the old station area
I think I've figured out exactly where it is. It's opposite the roundabout at the bend in Williamsons Road with the platform on the south side. Marymead station will be about 200 metres. PS. The Whittlesea line was closed in 1959.
Spot on exactly Mark! opp the roundabout ( the larger one on the bend) ....Check it out on Google Earth, you can still see the layout of what he is looking at , the site is probably bulldozed by now?
Lol. 10 years ago I lived in one of those units in the background but never knew that was there.
Good video I remember riding my bike on the old train line in 2010 also found a few interesting things there like a old glass milk bottle
Too many houses nowadays, a lot of pleasant farming land gone. It used to be so quiet and peaceful.

It's like most things, it has taken over 60 years for a train line to reappear. At least they didnt sell all the land off!
Where abouts was it As in what street
I was thinking of making a video about the new one and old one

Yeah it was hard to spot! I just knew because my father and I went there in the 90's
they still kept the station master's house intact.
I explored it a fair bit growing up I found a old glass milk bottle from the 50s or 40s and I used to ride my motorbike on the old train line
