Hey y’all, thank you so much for all the comments and interaction the last few years on this video! We are moving and taking the kennel with us so stay tuned for a major update. We will reveal all the things we did right and all the things we would definitely do differently!
Ive got that same pet safe door on my Shed I turned into an office. The covers are pains. I don't recommend them, especially in your situation. I'd put a draw string style door
Hey boss man how much did this set up cost you if you don’t mind me asking I wanna do something very similar maybe a little smaller I have French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs
How is that retriever brand fencing run from tractor supply holding up? Saw many people saying it only last around 2 years before it rusts out just from the rain and throw in some male dog urin. It looks good though.
Sorry for the late reply! It's been almost 5 years and has held up really well, even with being moved last year. I thought the Rocksolid on the floors was a mistake at first because it stained pretty easily but it's still protecting the wood to this day and actually doesn't look that bad. We did have to replace the Retriever brand kennels because of rust. We went with Master Paws from Menards and they seem to be holding up better. It's being used nonstop and hopefully will for years to come!
We used Rock Solid on the floor. We have a separate video on the floor process. We would look for something else if we did it again just because of the cost of Rock Solid plus it stains really bad. No drainage on the outside other than having the concrete sloped away from the kennel. Thanks for watching!
We used conduit straps attached to the side of the barn. This works good for small dogs like we have in there but bigger dogs might be able to slide the kennels around.
Yea the bottoms rust out on them ...I’ve since had to use galvanized square tubing an build my own ...nothing store bought seems to last with everyday use /cleaning
We have 8 retriever kennels that are covered, and they are not gonna last. I’ve had a door rust off the hinges within 2 years, and they’re out of the elements. It sucks, looking for alternatives for when we move to a new location!
Hello fellow Corso owner! I raised Corsos for 20 years my old girl is in the video! We used a couple different kinds of insulation. That foam board is amazing tho. Whatever open spots we filled in with spray foam. 5,000 BTU ac set on 5 keeps it cool and a small infrared heater heats it! The ceiling fan help a lot too 😀
Did the company offer a leveling service or put the blocks under it for extra? I ordered a building through a similar place near me and would like it lifted like yours.
Ball park is around $17k. We could have saved money doing more ourselves but we also saved money by buying the insulation 2nd hand so I think it equaled out.
Quick question, the flooring inside the barn is wood? I see dog run is concrete, im planning to build one so im trying to get as much info as i can. If its wood, what do u use to protect the wood from water etc
I like it. We have 11 deer dogs. Gonna be doing a center block kennel similar to this. Our dog doors will be able tolock from oitside so we can let them out when we want to. And do cleaning etc. This is nice though. I like the fact my neighbors wont be bothered when I feed them. Cause they get to barking and get loud.
Looks awesome, I built myself one too for my dogs but I’m debating if I should do a concrete slab for the runway or maybe I should do turf.. how do your dogs like concrete and where do they go to the bathroom?
Thanks! We put some straw down on the far end of the concrete runs and they use that for the most part. We keep them cleaned out as much as possible and power wash it occasionally.
@@HoosierOutdoors thanks your the best! I'll have to send you pictures of mine when it's finished. Last thing, what do you recommend I use for the floor.. I know you said in your video you would rather go with something else because of the stains.
@@EXIXISRAP the RockSolid stuff we used has actually held up pretty good. No, it sure doesn’t look like it did when we put it down but it isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to get. I haven’t put much thought into what we would use if we did another one but there has to be a cheaper solution!
The paneling on the wall, did you put up drywall then lay this over it or just put this board up on its own. Curious where it’s usually very thin if it’ll hold up or not Great looking kennel. We have a 12x32 as well and it’s a work in progress. Love the drain idea. Will be stealing that along with the tin roof on the inside
So many questions, How thick was your cement slab? What are you going to use to heat it in the winter months? And do you have an estimated price cost for the whole build?
6” thick sloped concrete, it is well insulated and 1 oil heater or small infrared works great! All the materials were bought on sale , with rebates, insulation was bought off FB marketplace for $4 a sheet, building is not on payments so definitely buying outright, bought all materials so no mark up from builder, kennels on sale also use the 15% off coupon… saved at least half doing most ourselves
@@gailakard6267 thanks. I just started mine. Unfortunately I half to wait for spring/summer to do my concrete now. I plan on working on the inside this winter. I am using your build as a guide!! I plan on having a second one made right after for a shelter for stray dogs I can take care of and find good homes. Thanks so much!
What about the FRP? I have seen pvc panels used by the company who builds complete kennels like this. Do you think the frp is going to work as well as pvc wall panels?
To have just the building built with company we bought a storage building from with the same square footage which doesn’t include doing all the work inside would equal $10,879 just for the building. But not bad considering $28 per square foot.
Hey y’all, thank you so much for all the comments and interaction the last few years on this video! We are moving and taking the kennel with us so stay tuned for a major update. We will reveal all the things we did right and all the things we would definitely do differently!
god damn i wish i had the money to get my dogs something like this, beautiful design. cheers from new zealand.
Dang this doesn’t look cheap at all. You have roofing on the sides of the kennel and that’s kind of a genius move. The drains are as well.
What was the total cost for this building?
Damn! Looks better than my trailer home. I wish I was your dog.
What bloodline is the dog at 30 seconds in
Looks awesome. I have the same project I'm going to do here just not as big.
Looks good Troy. I’ll take one just like it when you get the time
Wonderful Kennel! I've been looking for kennel ideas and this may be the best Kennel Build video on UA-cam. Congratulations on your build. Thank you!
Thank you!

Hi,can you kindly sent to me the architecture plan for your kennel pls?!

How is that retriever brand fencing run from tractor supply holding up? Saw many people saying it only last around 2 years before it rusts out just from the rain and throw in some male dog urin. It looks good though.
We got about 3 years and they were rusted away around the bottoms.
So, I'm planning a boarding business....how has this kennel held up over 4 years? Lessons learned?

nice kennel! I wish my back yard was big enough to put one that size
How much did it cost in total roughly?
Around $17,000 total.
Wow I’m loving the setup Rough estimate how much to build something like that
We've got around $17,000 in it.

How much did you spend of this all together? I am opening a bull terrier kennel
Around $17,000
Great job with that construction! Estimated value$?
NICE JOB
So seal the floor looks great guys been planning something similar love how the wood stable look is
Beautiful set-up! What did you use on the floor and do you have a drain system for the outside part?
We used Rock Solid on the floor. We have a separate video on the floor process. We would look for something else if we did it again just because of the cost of Rock Solid plus it stains really bad. No drainage on the outside other than having the concrete sloped away from the kennel. Thanks for watching!
Other than the floor staining did you have any other problems with it? Im thinking maybe a darker color.
Darker color would have probably been better. The stuff is protecting the floor but for the cost there has to be something better out there.
@@HoosierOutdoors I just bought a 12x40 shed today to do just like you did. What type of heater and ac do you use now?
@@allyessary6205 Nice! Ours is insulated really well so all we use is a small window unit for air and an electric space heater for heat.
How much did this cost? If I may ask.. and do you have like a blueprint ? And a list of everything you got?
We have around $17k in it. No blueprints or lists. We just found good deals here and there to buy our materials.
Exactly what I have in mind. How did you attach the retriever boxes to your slab?
We used conduit straps attached to the side of the barn. This works good for small dogs like we have in there but bigger dogs might be able to slide the kennels around.
Wow this set up is amazing
Looks good ...I’ve got 5 retriever kennels they don’t last ..they won’t make it 2 years
Dang, hate to hear that! Should last a lot longer than 2 years for what they cost. Is rust the issue with yours?
Yea the bottoms rust out on them ...I’ve since had to use galvanized square tubing an build my own ...nothing store bought seems to last with everyday use /cleaning

What size are the kennels on the inside
5’x5’
So that whole building is insulated with just foam board insulation? And it holds heat and a/c ? That’s great looking to do something similar
Yes, it's some really thick foam insulation though. Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!

Did the company offer a leveling service or put the blocks under it for extra? I ordered a building through a similar place near me and would like it lifted like yours.
We had to provide the blocks and have them here when the building was delivered.
What’s the ballpark you think you spent?
Ball park is around $17k. We could have saved money doing more ourselves but we also saved money by buying the insulation 2nd hand so I think it equaled out.

Wat the inside size kenenls
Me once again haha, what size of stalls are they? 5x5? I'm trying to figure out what rubber mats to get near me.

Hotep Kennels if the dogs are barking inside it is very hard to hear them from the outside.

Nice what kind of dogs are in your kennel??
Amazing
how will you keep the floor drain pipes from freezing in winter? How do you eliminate the pores in the wood from disease and rot?
Horse panel. That’s what we use as well. About 85$ per 6’x20x panel here in northern MO. Beautiful kennel !
Yep, those work great! We have a kennel built off our polebarn using 4' x 16' double stacked hog panels that work good for our bigger dogs.
Its beautiful man that's perfect wow and you could do it pretty fast and by your self if you had time
