Also therizo are really good for starters. Therizos harvest meat, wood, thatch, berries and high damage, and inflict torpor. You're able to take down high level rexes if your therizo is a high level
One important theri fact often overlooked is nothing will attack it. You can ride it into a pack of yuti buffed carnos and nothing will go near it until you attack them. The upside to this is taking you theri for a ride on your raft will keep those pesky leedsicthys away, allowing you to sail in safety.
Man this right here, I wish I would have known this years ago lol. I didn’t know the power of a good theri until ASA & once I got good ones I stopped using anything else for wood, berries, fiber, plant x & rare flowers. I would have been raising them from the start had I know they also can do so much damage and are even viable for boss fights. Theris are absolutely amazing and I miss my line of blue theris that I used to supply my server with.
A huge help for the single player is The Grinder. Build one and just throw all of your junk loot in there until it is full and then grind it up for a massive resource bump. I typically will only keep two of everything; armor, weapons, etc and only save the saddles I use or may use (you can repair just about everything so there is no need to hoard). Anything that isn't better than my stored gear goes in the grinder and sometimes that includes some really good loot. A full grinder produces around 3000 metal, a few hundred organic polymer/regular polymer, plenty of wood-thatch-fiber-hide per load. It's sucha great passive way too score extra resources. I haven't had to go do metal harvesting in a long time because the grinder restocks me pretty regularly. I can also usually repair all of my gear without tapping into my stored resources from this loot dump. Now of course I'm not building a bunch of those ascendant saddles or anything that asks you for 10k metal, but for normal use this thing is pretty clutch. Yeah, I know it is pretty pricey to build but it pays itself off pretty fast.
For example: I just filled the grinder and ran it. The resources gained: 14- Angler Gel 80- Paste 1955- Chitin 345- Crystal 124- Electronics 5893- Fiber 884- Flint 193- Gun Powder (yes you can grind up ammo too and I get an excess of advanced bullets) 3816- hide 224- metal 3820- metal ingots 15- narcotic 29- Obsidian 4- oil 869- Organic polymer 300- Pelts 425- Pearls 2480- stone 2212- thatch 2295- wood
Hi Phlinger. I haven't heard you mention this tip. In ASA, if you have extra organic polymer, turn it into soap. Soap doesn't spoil. When you need polymer, pot your soap in the grinder! Love your vids, please never stop... Lol.
Barys are also amazing especially once you get some good stats onto fully imprinted ones. With a good saddle you can even face tank Rexes while you down them. Underrated tame imo even tho ppl do appreciate the Barys. & they’re pretty easy to raise too once you have anything that’s good for grabbing tons of fish. Ironically I use Barys to raise Barys 🤣
Thanks for stating within the first two minutes, my attitude towards ark! I don't have alot of time & really like to feel I'm accomplishing something when I get on to play!
The bleeding effect of a thylo cannot be underestimated. In my last game I lucked out and got a saddle with 325 armour. After getting about 60 levels in the critter, I got curious and went up against a low level giga. Imagine my shock when my one thylo took the giga out within two minutes, as the bleed effect drained the overgrown lizard's health faster than bitcoin plummets during a panic. He even took out a titanosaur, though took a lot more damage of course.
The beaver does harvest while carrying. The first bite sometimes you have to stop right up on the tree, but i have 4 that I fly out in rotations to stockpile when doing building projects
I'm with you about the Thylas. I don't feel like I'm IN the game until I have a Thyla and an Argentavis. I usually end up naming my Thylas something that has to do with how the tame went. My first Thyla was named Dart because I ran out of narcotics and had to shoot him with a dart to keep him down for the last minute of the tame.
Built my pc with the 7800X3D cpu and 4080 super gpu. Can finally run ascended decently :) Tried to run it on my gtx 1070 but that was absolutely no hope
I've got a 5600x with a Radeon RX 6950 XT. The 5600x gets WAY too hot though... I really need to upgrade to liquid cooling. I also would REALLY like to get the 5800X3D!! Then I'll be flying :) What cooler do you have on your 7800X3D?
@@BeachbobChris I have my graphics settings cranked up really high, so normally my temps will creep up to 76-79c. A few days ago when I was flying around on my PT and a bunch of stuff was loading in, the CPU hit 83, and I was like "ah geez" lol. Also, I was recording with OBS while I was playing. I upgraded from the stock Wraith Stealth cooler to a Hyper 212 tower air cooler, and I re-pasted it a while ago... Temps are around 50c when I'm not gaming or editing though. And it drops to 40c at complete idle.
It’s a relaxing experience. Good for people who just want to build bases and be creative without having to constantly be in fear of having everything you’ve worked for be destroyed in an instance. PVP is EXTREMELY toxic. You have to not only be very sweaty and grind no end but you also have to literally login every day to maintain everything and every time you login, there’s a possibility of your entire base being destroyed and all your tames killed. In all honesty, I don’t see the point of PVP unless you have access to a lot of friends and a lot of time to form a strong tribe even then it just sounds like a horrible experience to me.

Beavers will harvest while they are being carried, it can be a little wonky with the hitboxes but it is possible.
Yep I do that all the time as well, definitely wonky tho😂
You have to halt(dino air-brake) the Argy next to the tree so that the beaver is repositioned lower. The default key-bind is X.
Tip one: Get a Thyla. Enjoy life.
Tip two: stop using the same creature every damn time
Not related but I just cleared out entire snow cave with one baryonyx…whew. Was like running the tek cave lol.
The fish healing makes it a lot easier. Just those pesky purlovia to deal with.
Those damn Purlovia, though. I did just solo kill alpha Broodmother, though. Rip to a bunch of 30-30 Megathyrium.

Learned that lesson!
Hay Phlinger thanks for the tips always helpful. :)
Thanks for the tips Phlinger!
Unless they reverted it the thylas will now pounce up so trying to pick them off the tree might be impossible now. 😢
It’s cool that you and I picked the same base location.
Nice tips video!! I need to practice my whistling lol
Phlinger great job this will help the new players a lot.
Good Morning Phlinger and Phamily!
Good morning
Using the arrow keys as a d-pad for the whistles is such a big brain idea, genius! 👍
Keep up the good ASA vibes please! Thanks Phlinger

Where is the link for the single-player settings advice? I looked and can't seem to find it.
