Me, who just bought a squad of Pykes to bolster my smaller Republic and Imperial armies. 😅 (I have both Core Sets, so I'll let friends borrow an army to learn the game.)
Sorry, I like the pikes. I was surprised how powerful they are, but they were formidable in the series. Love their look. I also look forward to a Mando battle force.
13:33- This one I “was” excited about when he was announced! But then when I found out he was only allowed to be in the Merc army that drained a lot of my excitement out (maybe it might come back a bit if they start coming out with better characters and units that I would actually want to use in a game?!? Maybe)! And then when I found out that you can attach the Dark saber to him, but it doesn’t add to his attack…… it’s a choice which one you want to use, the rest of my excitement was gone! The model is great though!!!
I remember having a Prince Xizor/Darth Vader action figure pack that came with a little comic book. My parents bought me the SotE book. It was a good time to be alive for sure.
i think a hut cartel expansion would be good for the mercs. Probably a core unit with 4 nikto/weeqay, and then options for a gameorrean or quarren as a heavy. Also Fennic Shand and Embo would both make for great operatives
I love pykes for competitive play, but for casual matches I lean more towards black sun and buses with a bounty splash. My list is: Maul Bossk Black sun enforcers Swoop bikes Gar
3:49- I don’t understand how and when he could shoot through a “closed” transport to get at the unit inside?!? I don’t remember his card saying anything like that!?! The only thing I can think of is that people just assumed they could (for some God odd reason) and since the games rules didn’t technically say no then it became a thing?!? I don’t know….. it was never a thing where I’ve played in the rare occasion that situation came up!?!
Also same man. Shadows of the empire. That book, the game, and the comic. Was so cool, Star vipers man!!!!! They are also so friggen cool!!!!! Totally understand and respect that choice. How awesome would prince xezor be, and you could have his android bodyguard (the blonde haired lady).
@@camwardart It was pretty much in layers, I think. Everything was considered canon unless something higher in the priority contradicted it. So whether it was canon before Disney was shaky at best; since, arguably Guri almost leans too much into hard futuristic sci-fi then space opera. Though, as an aesthetic and a design, Black sun has always been incredibly stylish! From their grunts to their bodyguard and starfighters, they are just iconic in my mind. Whoever rocks up to battle in Brass and Purple armour deserves some respect. Ahaha
I think if they do a mando battleforce it should be based on the old republic as that is the time period where the Mandos were a unified people, now I'm not super well versed on how they were named and made to work back then, but if i was desighning them without doing any research, every unit can take a jetpack, jetpack would give them 1 time use free move, for close range options you'd have dual pistols with good melee stats, a mid range blaster unit, and a sniper unit, each one would have access to upgrades to give the leader of the unit access to a couple different mando weapons, like the zipcord launcher, flamethrower gauntlet, or disengration dart, for special forces they would have a more expensive form of each of those units, for support they'd have access to some speeder bikes, or a heavier jetpack, then for heavy they can have access to the Bassalisk war droid, and one of there gunships
I think it be silly but idc been running it anyways (sometimes all proxy sometimes house rules) for years now, mos espa battle force, boba, fennic, kryanstin. I take a tuskin troop, a biker squad, and a bunch of city folks/farmers. Heavy you can take the rancor. Mando is also welcomed/common in the list. It’s a rebel/merc battleforce.
I do like this, and I have wanted to see tuskans or jawas as a mercenary unit, Jawa and there ion shotguns would be fun, while tuskans could have special abilities like being immune to deflect
19:09- See, I didn’t really like painting these guys! But the reason why I didn’t and you did is obvious! I also didn’t really like painting the Pykes either. But I also like to paint my minis to look as accurate as I can make them but also for each unit of them to be different enough so I can tell the difference between who goes to what unit!?! And I know a lot of people will paint the rim of the bases differently colors to show that…… but I never understood that one!?! I did that… but to show what army they go to! Not what unit they go to! In my opinion if I have two of my armies on a board at the same time it looks better when each army is identified by the rim of the base! Like red VS blue or purple VS orange! My Merc army as of now is just a black base rim! But also the one thing I did for the smaller minis (and for the longest time I never saw anyone else do it! But now I see people pop up here and there with them trying to say they were the first to do it) I would paint the armies emblem on the flat part of the base instead of terrain!!! I think it looks great and a lot of other people like my concept also. But once I got into WH also I started getting more into doing up the bases more like cut outs of the terrain like everyone else! And also now for the bigger Legion models I’ll try to do the same!!! That is definitely one way you can tell if one of my bigger models is one of the newer ones I did or one of the original I did!!!
As a Mando shill, id love to hear your thoughts on how a Mandalorian battleforce could work, should they go down in points, lose gear, abilities, new units? Any list that takes the current super commandos is hitting 7 activations tops and i dont see Bo katan being cheaper than Saxon
Well they can do strike teams, however, mandos can be given bounty hunters, and still stay mostly in flavor, which would mean they could still be given use of black suns or pikes or really any mercenary unit added to the game outside of the very small selection of moral ones
@@nitrofochv2185 the point of a mando battleforce is the flavor, but mandos have made use of organizations and mercenaries since the old republic, because when you act as mercenaries you get connections and money to hire other mercenaries
10:54- Yeah, that would be cool! But I don’t know how that would work depending on who else you add to the game to try to fill up the spots?!? But the Wren clan working with the Maul Mandos wouldn’t make any sense! And even if you eventually add the Night Owl clan, they would also never work with the Maul Mandos!!! That’s like Teaming up Han Solo with Darth Vader!?! And at that point you might as well do whatever you want because clearly you’re not following the faction specific rules anyways!!!
22:27- I must have missed that part of you talking about that!?! I can play “Legion” on your website for free?!? Do I have to be on a computer? Or can I do that also on my phone? I honestly don’t really understand how a lot of people watch UA-cam on their computers when almost everyone’s phones can do the same!?! I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but if I’m on my computer it’s to play a game or I’m looking for a file to 3D print! Or I’m splicing the file so I can print it! But besides that, no! I’m never on my computer to do anything that I can do on my phone!!!
2:41- I guess I would have to either play you or watch more of the videos of you playing to actually know what you mean by your play style!?! But if you didn’t add that I would have said “really? I’m not that good at this game compared to a lot of other people but the 3 games I have faced Pykes they didn’t last long or really do much of anything to stop me!?!” But hey, if you start up your world domination of getting rid of them I’ll sell you mine!?! Let me know lol
That's the thing. They aren't soldiers in the traditional sense but rather enforcers of a criminal syndicate that has gotten big enough to be official security forces. Just Droid's, B1's in particular, already have the cheapest fodder unit of any faction. So I'm quite happy with Pikes being this lightly armoured but dangerous unit prone to panicking without a boss to reign them in.
Rebels need more mercs. Historically, rebel forces have often had to rely on scoundrels, mercenaries, and pirates.
Bo-Katan = full mando list. But could also just see her being first introduced as an operative
If she was introduced in a battleforce for Mandos I think she would be a commander
Crabbok to Din Djarin: "You are in this list, but I do not grant you the rank of better than 5."

Ekhem hondo
Shadows of the Empire is awesome. I want them to release a remastered version of the N64 game and make it cannon.... That would be great.
I did not guess right. A surprise. I have to put more enforcers out on the table, give them another try. Thanks.
I love pykes for competitive play, but for casual matches I lean more towards black sun and buses with a bounty splash.
My list is:
Maul
Bossk
Black sun enforcers
Swoop bikes
Gar
Bo-Katan, The Armorer, Paz Vizsla, Axe Woves would be a great start
Bo-Katan incoming surely!
Boba is one of my favorite in Legion, love IG88 as well. I’m not sure what Din needs to be more competitive but I wish he was!

Would love to be able to play these guys without needing Maul, like a hutt cartel army, Gamoreans, and weequays would also be cool
Maul is cool but don’t enjoy the fact you basically need to run him in every battle force
You don't need Maul. You can run Gar Saxon, or a Pyke Capo, or even a Black Sun Vigo.
Moment of silence for Boba Fett and Cad Bane.

I feel like Pykes should be weaker than Black Sun. Increasing their points isn't enough
I know the black sun guys are some pretty big dudes.
I thought they were tbh, but I haven't seen a dedicated pyke army yet
That's the thing. They aren't soldiers in the traditional sense but rather enforcers of a criminal syndicate that has gotten big enough to be official security forces.

There are only 5 units of mercenaries. Of course, all of them are the best )))
