Do you have any recommendations for samba listening? Im an american getting into jazz drumming and so much of what people listen to out here for samba and bossa nova is super americanized and kinda waters down the feel. Ive really struggled to find authentic recordings.
In terms of pure samba I’ve got a link on the resources page of my website to a Spotify playlist with sambas called ‘suingue do samba’. Even if you’re not a Spotify user you’ll be able to find all the tracks elsewhere. In terms of bossa specifically, my go tos are: Astrud Gilberto’s records, Rosa Passos, Joyce Moreno has a lot of albums that blend between samba and bossa nicely. And I’d 10000% check out the drummer Isaac Jamba. He posts incredible samba jazz drum kit content that *really* swings as well as tutorials ☺️
