Thank you for clarifying it's not either of our faults! We both have really worked hard to make sure secure attachments are in place, etc, so it's easy to be discouraged. Although, there are things we should, and shouldn't be doing, no doubt!

I really needed to hear this, this morning😅
My son is 6 nonverbal & autistic & it’s so hard I blame myself for everything!!! I’m trying my Bestest & so is my son but it’s so freeking heartbreaking bc he’s so vulnerable! Where I live in Canada, funding for speech therapy stops in grade 1!!! I’m fighting for him to get the services he needs…bc of covid the resources he needs are so backed up!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️
Thank you & I’m for sure gonna check your website🙏🏼💙🙏🏼

We moved to Calgary for more & better services. Waited over a year to get a diagnosis & then had to wait months to see a paediatrician. Now that my sons six, he’s to old for the funding, even though covid set us back 2 years. What bothers me the most is that Kai doesn’t qualify for speech therapy anymore bc he has an AAC or speech device…that we weren’t even taught how to use 🤦🏼‍♀️ Canada’s really failing these kiddos, everything is a fight, tons of paper work & lots of waiting! I honestly thought things would be better in our nations capital…. So freeking overwhelming sad.😔
      Much LOVE to y’all 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

My son didn't start trying to talk until he was nearly 3. Once he started, we noticed his vocabulary was fairly high for his age, but his clarity was bad until he was 5. All my fears about overall intelligence went away when I realized speech itself isn't the determining factor with comprehension.

My son is 2years and eight months
I always feel that it’s my fault if I didn’t allow him screen time he started talking soon This makes me so sad I have completely stopped his screen time and giving him Theraphy but he didn’t started talking yet
He is only interested in ABC 123 but doesn’t imitate if i force him he got angry
This video really gives a lot of hope

Hey Ming! My daughter has been in speech therapy for a year now. I sit in on her therapy sessions so that I can learn and emulate at home. It has always been a positive experience, however, her speech therapist wants me to no longer be present now that she's three. Teacher says it is time for her to leave "Momma", so that teacher can challenge her more to see a faster improvement. Is this normal for therapists to not want a parent present? To give context I have always just sat in a chair on other side of room and observed. It seems like the culture in the office is that no other parents go in with their children, but one of us has always gone in with ours so that we can learn and teach at home.

That is strange, it's actually easier to have parents inside as the child gets bigger. That's my experience. Some clinics do just what you described. And it is totally normal, and up to the therapist in charge. I would say, see if the therapy really does get faster, if it does then great. However, if you're struggling with replicating the techniques at home. Then you should tell them right away.

Why is it work to communicate with your own child?

  • @marjorieramos191

Thank u, I stop blaming myself but sometimes I feel guilty because Im tired from work and I can only teach my son at night and he is also tired at night. He is in occupational therapy but was not able to join speech therapy yet because he still cant sit 4 a long time 10 mins is the most he could do if he is in the mood. I hope I could join ur therapy session. He is by the way verbal but can't communicate.
