A few hours? Usually write it on one evening after dinner, Jam it for a bit, then leave it on overnight and record it after work the next day. Then I turn it all off without saving, which is kinda liberating!
Oh 😲 ! Yeah you’re right 😯 that would be liberating 🗽 Sitting on it for a day also tends to be a trend for me, but I turn the power off. I might try that though.
@@Supernautiloid I use the Korg branded power supply made specifically for Volcas. Not sure if it qualifies as isolated -- never tried batteries, because I don't like the cost/sustainability. I love the Volcas for the size/features but that hum drives me nuts.
Yeah so as mentioned, I use seperate power units for each volca which helps, as if you power them from the volca mix, it adds heaps of noise. I use a little mixer to mix the 4 middle tier volcas separately, then all the drums go through one mix and the odd volcas through the other mix at the top. Before I push play, there is def a bit of noise, but once the mix is playing you don't hear it. Plus I tend to use a lot of reverb which helps! I might do a quick video this weekend to talk through the setup.
If I lost them all and had to buy one again, I think it would be the Keys. I can reproduce the sounds of other volcas with other synths I have fairly easily, I find the Volca Keys always delivers unique and interesting results with only a few knob tweaks. My least favourite is the Mod. Im very much a keyboard melody player, and im not really into the Mods sound or workflow personally.
Maybe you should use a DAW to strive for something more because this music sounds so cliché and average and regurgitated, it hurts my ears and it's upsetting to even listen to it. Listening to this reminds me of how innovation in music has died. Check out Mark Fisher's video "The Slow Cancellation of the Future" to hear a perspective about how this may have happened.
Ha I listened back and yeah I kinda agree, this isn't my fav jam at all. That arp is pretty cheesy for sure. But I firmly believe it's better to make something, then move on rather than spending ages on it. This video can be a 'how far have I come' memory in a few years. Couple thoughts though..I don't think using a DAW would guarantee your music won't be cliche'. I just read that article from Mark Fisher. Since the beginning of music, people have always said 'innovation is dying' and 'music was better back in the old days'. The reality is that we only remember the good stuff from the past and forget the trash, but there has always been good original music, and very average music. My hope is if I keep jamming and uploading, eventually I will find something unique I can latch on to and make that my sound.
@@flipspark Respect for even bothering replying to this guys comment, he's a dick... notice his channel has absolutely no content and he has had nothing to say since your reply. Or you could just get a DAW and all your problems with be solved~!!!
@@flipspark As someone still relatively new to hardware synths, these types of jams are always genuinely inspiring. Blows my mind how something so impressive could garner such a negative response from someone, but I suppose this is the UA-cam comment section after all. Love the jams, I always learn something.
Soooo gorgeous. That middle drum loop is so clean, clap tucks in and stays defined even with heavy fx. I should pull my volcas out again!
that blue sky really takes it to the next level! love strymon
Brill set up 9 volcas 2 volca mixers! Wicked Trak love it I loved my vac nubass❤️
Yeah the nubass isn't QUITE a perfect 303 clone, but it has a charm all on it's own. Underrated in my opinion
@@flipspark yeah I bought bass & nubass same time and love nubass over the first one not 303 at all but great with the TD"s
I really dug this! Thanks for putting your art out there for us to enjoy! Keep it up man!
Good morning mate 🙂 This one is helps me to start my day relaxed
very cool jam. Sounds like a finished track.
Heyyy very nice. I like volcas. Very good set. Hug from argentina
Sounds awesome! Great setup!
Woa really cool Soundz here! Beatz and greetz and a SUB from another Dawless ingenieur from Germany! 🇩🇪😎👌
Top drawer jam man! 👌😎☮
Excellent....
I think volcas are very creative 👌...
Very very good :) nice to hear it :)
That's some good stuff right there....
AMAZING!!!
true ear candy!
Yeahhhhhhhhh
Awesome !!! You should entertain my B-Day party.
Impressive sound for a dawless setup. How long do you think you spend prepping before you think you’re ready to record a new track?

What do you mean you leave it on over night?
He literally means he leaves all the machines on over night. Some of them, if you turn them off will reset a few things unless you save to the memory.
Great! How did you achieve this wide ambient pad in the background?
Nice setup! Gotta ask -- how do you get your Volcas to sound so clean. All of mine, including the Mix, have a distractingly crazy hum.
Sounds like you need an isolated power supply. That should reduce the hum. Or try using batteries.

@@flipspark Nice! Will definitely appreciate a walkthrough of your setup 👍
Where can I learn how to do exactly this with the Volcas?
Good! Can you explain how you have All in pitch? Have you e system for it?
In pitch? What do you mean? I have another 'setup' video
Favorite volca?

too groovy and shaky but solid texture;-)
