As always Marty, the way you teach is so easy to follow for this 78 year old fellow (me) who is now returning to guitar playing some 50+ years later. Much Respect to you & Happy Holidays to you Marty. Ron (“Utah”)😎🇺🇸
Thanks @REGLeaf, I’m 69 and glad to see someone else here my age
Barre Chords definitely add so much! Not easy at first, but basically unlocks the fretboard in and of itself once you get the hang of them.
Great video! Thanks Marty for all your hard work and dedication to the youtube channel!
Very well done Marty. Excellent lesson per usual
Great exercises. Enjoying the course
Hey Marty, thank you for the guide to mastering barre chords. Greatly appreciated!!
Mahalo Marty!! Always great content!
Wow! I had never been able to wrap my head around this system before now. The piece I’d been missing was the shape depends on which string has the root note. Thanks Marty!
Man Marty, you made it finally make sense! Mind blown. Thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks Marty, I am a fairly new subscriber and what I have learned from you has really helped me understand the concepts better. I've always been a mediocre player. I am a vocalist by training and play a couple other instruments as well. I'm trying to get back to gigging so thanks for the help.
I'm off and running with this!! Thanks!!
Hi marty I love your videos and find them so helpful to learn songs!! Could you possibly do a full length video on just chords? 🎸
Nice explanation!!
Root on E string therefore use E shape, I never knew that 👏👏👏
Great explanation
Thanks Marty!
Thanks Marty.
I'm just glad I know how to spell them correctly now
Thanks bro
A great tutor.
yay
Nice guitar 🎸
That’s a lot of information packed into 16 minutes. But you broke it down to meaningful chunks and showed how shapes are the base of learning chords.
marty
Nice 👍 ❤
*YES*
Always had a hard time understanding caged, you helped me see you use the root of the open chord and move them around. Easy now lol. Thanks
Great to hear!
Let it Be is definitely in there...!
Marty the barre fly
What would we do without you Marty??
Hello Marty thanks a ton for this insightful video. I'm a beginner who practices bar chords currently and I want to know why do you press your a shape chords by only using your 2 fingers? In every A shape bar chord image I found on the internet depicts to use all four finger in a finger 1 and finger 2,3,4 way and I saw your video and your A shape was made by two fingers 1 and 3 only. Do you recommend a beginner to do it your way because I tried and some chords don't sound nice at all especially E and B. If so, what exercises should I practice to strengthen the third finger? Thank you so so much!!!
Sir is there any exercise for finger stretching that you can share , pls share if possible
No f for caged but has c and d shape which for me is quite identical? Is it another case or another use?
do tutorial on Hey Lover by Daughters of Eve pleaseeee
"some of the notes are up an octave” fun fact is that they're all up an octave, it's actually almost the same “voicing” but it's an F_2 major chord vs F_3 major in that voicing.
So one way to write voicings is to write when the strings all come back to the same position how many times have they vibrated, for traditional open-E and open-A this is 2:3:4:5:6:8 in E shape vs 2:3:4:5:6 in A shape. Just missing the highest string for obvious reasons. Open D is the same, 2:3:4:5. Versus for example traditional open G major whose voicing is 4:5:6:8:12:16 or country G 4:5:6:8:10:16, the latter of which is also C 4:5:6:8:10.
I think about this a lot because C is like the saddest major chord and G is the happiest, that this is really all happening on those highest strings
Is there a chance that you could break down one of the new foo fighters songs on their newest album like the Teacher or Under you.
Hey man! Great lesson, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on the last solo in November Rain by Guns-n-Roses. I’ve been trying to pick the song out but haven’t been able to pin it down. I was going to ask you because no one else can do it!! Seriously all the other tutorials are horrible for this song 😂 and they sound nothing like the original track. You are awesome man!!!❤❤❤
Hey Marty can you do a video on how to play soul sacrifice
Mary can pls do a video with the power cords in 7 nation army pls i watched your 6 nation army video many times to get the power cord part right and I can’t. Thank you for teaching me other songs tho

Wich amp is this?
i hear a lot of the song take on me 😁😁
How do you handle barre chords when the index finger is arthritic and unable properly lay against the frets?
Great question!
i swear i saw you in a movie called hot air
I was in that movie
My friend wrote that movie so I had a little cameo
I know barre chords by shape, but unfortunately, not really by name
Is it true Marty that you would only use A and E Barre Chords??? I understand that you will only need to the A and E as the others are very seldom used.
CAGED are the shapes that are used, but E and A are the most used for sure
@@MartyMusic many thanks for your reply Marty much appreciated.
Hey Love your stuff....I am going to buy your signature guitar when tax money comes in... Proposition.. you make your second color All White.... My wife will let me hang it in the dining room decoratively.... If not,.I will buy it in red and love every second of it. I have deep dove in 335 types and none look better... Coil splitting is my main target and not many do it... Thank you for
