The thing about Homelander and seeing his son is complicated. Homelander doesn't have anyone really like him, so finding out he has an actual flesh and blood family member is a new feeling to him. Vaught could have used this to help humanize him more, rather than keep the son's existence private as a future contingency plan against Homelander himself. The awkward scene of him catching feels over forcing his son to say "I love you too" shows how much he really wants to have a good relationship with his son, he's just not equipped to do so.
Homelander should also not have a relationship with the boy, because the boy was conceived by the mother being raped by homelander. So in that sense homelander is not a father of the boy.
I think Vought didn't just keep him as a contigency plan against Homelander, but also to not add to Homelander's power. as a duo they'd be a huge risk to Vought's control and power.
I like that this show will say something kind of subtlety (like about a deal walking around), giving information early for smart people, then get explicit later for those who didn't quite catch on. It's like a video game that rewards players who explore with extra loot.
I get that the brother is bad now bc he wants to kill people(and has already killed one), but it’s bc the Americans literally went and murdered people around him that he wanted revenge. If he’s bad for that then homelander should be getting absolutely no sympathy bc he’s already killed people and then excuses it as ‘good morals’.
Y'know I gotta say, I genuinely enjoy your guys' reactions to this series so so much, after a long 9 hour shift at work its nice to watch your guys' vids and wind down for the night. I actually started watching it on my own cuz of your reactions and now I like to stay a few episodes ahead of you guys (at least on UA-cam) so I can look forward to your reactions to certain scenes, but I'm not so far ahead that I can't theorise along side you about some things. And sorry for the long message but I'm tired and I just wanted you guys to know how much I appreciate you
Honestly I understand not trusting anyone's one story (it's the best way to view the story) but to basically say Homelander is right to situate himself in Beccas house whenever he pleases is a bad take. A visitation agreement can't just be that the dad turns up whenever he pleases and just hangs about until he gets bored. That's not fair to Becca or Ryan.
What mind fucks me though is Homelander is superior. Like I don't know how to fault a guy that has those abilities into not thinking that. Not to mention how he was "raised" in a lab.
Superior? Homelander is a narcissistic manchild and violent sadist. If you think being able to win a fight is what makes somebody superior, you've got a lot of growing up to do.
This. Homelander's upbringing is meant to be the exact opposite of Superman's. Clark Kent had a family that made sure to teach him not to abuse his power and to never think of himself superior to others. Homelander was raised by scientists and handlers who wanted him to be the world's greatest super hero. His entire upbringing was built around beating it into his head that he was destined for greatness. You can blame him for what he does, but you can't really blame him for what he turned into. I think you guys should watch the 8th episode "The Boys Presents: Diabolical". It's a cartoon series of random stories per episode about The Boys' universe. You can watch them in any order, since they don't connect to each other. Episode 8 features Homelander's first ever mission as an official supe. It helps paint a picture into how he turned out this way.
Homielander only let Butcher live so that he would have to live with the torment of knowing Becca was alive and had a kid from HL's supersperm. Homelander knowing, or at least thinking, that he's invincible and untouchable means that he can do whatever the eff he wants.
I mean if Rock Lee likes charismatic dudes like Homelander, we should get him a time machine so he can go hang out with Ted Bundy, David Karesh, or better yet Charles Manson when they were in their prime. They were all charismatic and likable as hell. Homelander and Charles Manson even have it in common that they both don’t like Black people.
Hell, just ask *David Duke!* 😂 He's been on some black UA-camr channels before, too funny. What an epic crossover episode! Also once lost a bet against some game tuber and held to it, donating $10k to the Negro college fund Literally nobody would have expected that, he deffo didn't have to see it through, but did anyway.
I love how y’all are talking about parental rights and all that stuff. These are important conversations to have in society. But name one time in your entire life that someone has told you, “Hey so the craziest thing. Remember how I was raped against my will which resulted in a child of rape that I chose to care for and not abort.” “Well my rapist found me now so now I’m letting him live in my house and eat my food and interact with our kid because that’s a totally normal thing right.” “Happens every day in America right” In a normal legal situation Homelander has no right because the procedure in which the child was generated was FELONY CRIME in most states. Their child was not made out of love or family, but a superhuman monster using a human that he abused sexually for several hours during the fact and the kid, like most rapes, in ended up being a non-thought of consequence of this act.
Minor quibble, but his "lab daddy" *did* tell him that he was shooting blanks. Only to later admit that was a lie and in fact he had a xenomorph that burrowed out of it's mother like a gopher. Situ is a bit more complex than that. Homie is probably feeling that he can "make up for lost time" by forcing himself into their lives all the time. Basically should have a bigger problem with what he's doing *now* than what he did to cause said child, which was under false pretenses by all parties. If he knew from the start he _could_ have kids he probably would not have been such a careless hedonist, at least to whichever woman he wanted a kid with. Don't even know why they lied to him about that, unless Vought didn't want him to make multiple kids as a "back up plan" for they turning on him or throwing him out of The Seven and starting his own superior family group. Stan wasn't off base calling him a "man child" and I think that whole sequence was about showing he turned out that way under false pretenses, "that nothing he ever did would matter" so why bother thinking about consequences. Basically that lie *starts him* down this path but _now_ he is choosing to continue it, which is where the responsibility shifts And in completely the wrong way too, like Archie Bunker, or Christopher Titus's dad character in his show, rough stern asshole dad who wants a mirror image, which is what the kid _doesn't_ need
The only position Hughie put himself in was standing on the sidewalk tallking to his girlfriend when she was murdered in front of him. He lived with a dad that never supported him and wanted him to take the money for the NDA for Robin. Im not trying to be ignorant but how was Starlight using the word "Cristal"? Because of JZ's opinion of the company?Homelander is a sociopath who forced himself on an innocent woman without powers. How is a person that forces themself on someone prove to be a good parent, especially after having on parental experience or figures in his life.
y’all were heartless asl when it came to kimiko’s brother lol damn. yes he’s technically a terrorist but y’all left the why out of the reaction. you can’t invade people’s homes and decide you’re gonna do whatever without someone wanting to fight back. it’s that helpless feeling that makes folks like that so easy to radicalize. the u.s. stay invading places irl but wanna play shocked pikachu when extremists fight back. it isn’t right on either side especially when innocents get hurt but i can’t ever really hate people who have been brainwashed or are just trying to take their home back. anyway, y’all put that kid’s head on the chopping block as soon as he brought up his views, no redemption allowed. crazy stuff.
50:30 I understand Kimikos brother. I recalled talking about that at the bitter end with Noir leaving a child witness. They grow up and become the T word and it’s not shocking when you see what happens to their families. Kimikoks a an adult man i just met and wants to wipe us all out. Lol. So i “feel” no redemption for him. I didn’t emotionally connect with him
Its a small point, But Alexander the great was Macedonian, not Greek. He actually conquered Greece. He also tried to build an empire with hearts and minds, not just blood. That's why the women were cool with him. He made a point of treating the royal family of Persia with the exact treatment they were accustomed to after he conquered Persia. He even let conquered people rule themselves under him, mostly. That created a lot of jealousy in his generals who wanted those positions. They also wanted a full blooded Macedonian heir as it was the custom, but he married local women and adopted many customs of the land he conquered, creating even more resentment. Hope that helps 👍
yo rock d, i have some questions: why is homelander all of a sudden innocent until proven guilty considering the other things he’s done? i get your stance in literal terms but the way you double down on approving his behavior in the show just makes it that much more sus. makes me more understanding of why people might say you support r*pists. everyone can see the way becca responds to him; how fearful and uncomfortable she is so why isn’t it ok to believe the story we were told? like i said, i do get why you’ve taken that stance but the way you joke in the videos earns a side eye here and there. like come on now, you honestly believe someone like homelander should have access to an innocent child? just because he’s his? let’s not even bring up ryan’s conception, i’m talking about homelander just being who he is as a person. how can you as a viewer take the stance that he deserves to visit after what you’ve seen him do? vought knows him better than anyone and they thought it was smart to try and hide the kid away! enjoying the character is awesome, it’s when you get to defending the bs for jokes(?) that just confuses me. is it contrarianism for contrarianism’s sake?
@@chance757 lol. I tried several long responses. And none of them could capture my feelings. I’m better on video lol. Which admingly means you have my back against the wall for a response 😂😂
Kimiko's sign language is 100% made up for the show It isn't real sign language They bring it up in some interviews In universe she and her brother made it up
If you guys have seen eps 4, then you probably know about the stormfront situation, so I think in this episode she basically said what she said about Starlight being a victim of r*pe not because of empathety, but pity...
Wait. They try to explain Overlord to you on a 2nd Watchthrough? AND DON'T INVITE ME? C-can i join them? Don't worry, I promise I'll be super annoying to every minute details till you barf. I'm joking. relax.

Kimiko was more than likely signing in Japanese SL not the ASL we typically use here.
Nah, her and her brother made their own sign language as she went mute after they got kidnapped and their parents got killed.
Ya, they mentioned the following episode. Totally forgot. You're correct. Act like my comment doesn't exist lol

11:42. There is no Fort Wayne, Texas. You're thinking of Fort Worth.
Director, Black people stopped drinking Cristal over a decade ago...that wasn't a subliminal racist remark from Starlight lol

He's physically superior. That's not enough to consider _him_ superior as a person.
Homielander only let Butcher live so that he would have to live with the torment of knowing Becca was alive and had a kid from HL's supersperm. Homelander knowing, or at least thinking, that he's invincible and untouchable means that he can do whatever the eff he wants.
There is a bonus episode Between episode 2 & 3. Where Butcher went to one of his friend after he discovered that Becca is still alive.
