Nic, I concur with your assessment that we need a new head coach. Along with that, a new GM. Chris and Mike's intransigence in not fixing glaring problems is what is holding this team back. We should be a 13 and 3 team nearly every year, with the talent we have, minus the O line.

Fins ended their relationship with Flores badly and there are reasons for both sides to take blame but Flores had many good qualities as a HC to go along with the bad. Fins couldn't seem to make that work and now successful somewhere else. Dan Cambell was on the Fins staff and applied for HC and we let him walk because the thinking was he's just not ready. I listened to the 5 picks and like you said I agree with Vrable at #1. I wondered why you didn't mention Weaver and then there it was placed dead center. Only question is does he have the same problem they thought Dan Cambell had. Ready? Looks it too me but why risk another long drawn-out contract commitment like they are a pair of handcuffs. If Vrabale can't be had an incentive contract that gets an extension offer based on wins should be IMO should offered to Weaver. He's at least as good or close to as any of the 2-5 picks and will likely become better. He looks ready like he's got something to prove! Happy Holidays Everybody!
I've watched the NFL closely since I was a young fan boy 9I grew up in Cocoa Beach, Fl., before we had any pro teams) of the Lombardi Green Bay championship teams in the early/mid 60's, with Paul Horning and Bart Star and CB Herb Adderly being my three favorite players. I became a Dolphins fan when Shula came to town. It is still a mystery to me how some teams build championships and others just stay mediocre for decades. The early Shula teams had decent talent already when he arrived (Csonka and Griese were already there, both Hall of Famers) and his personnel man was a genius, or super lucky or both; getting two hall of famer OL players off other teams practice squads (Jim Langar and Larry Little) and getting another 1st round talent (All Star Free Safety Jake Scott) from the CFL for almost nothing and traded for HOF Paul Warfield and HOF Nick Buoniconti and drafted very well, getting two other All Pro talents on the OL and Manny Fernandez on DL and an all star talent at Strong safety in Dick Anderson and Mercury Morris at HB and very good talent sprinkled all over every position. In '72 and '73 they had the top rated offense and defense and came within a miracle Kenny Stabler play at the goal line to keep them from going to a fourth SB in a row and no doubt would have been their 3rd SB win in a row. What was that team good at? Everything...they could run it when they wanted to and they could pass it if you found a way to stop their run and they could stop your run and pass on defense. And they had outstanding coaching (Howard Schnellenberg at OC and the genius Bill Arnsparger at DC with Monte Clark as DL coach who built the best OL in NFL history. And then you had Shula, who Csonka said, "it was just so painful during the week if you lost, we had to win". I remember Shula's first press conference, as south Florida sports press member said "Coach can you describe your coaching style?"...Shula answered "I'm about as subtle as a punch in the nose". But those teams stayed almost 100% healthy in all three SB seasons, especially with the hall of Fame talent. When McDaniel's was hired I appreciated his Ivy league degree and his innovative offensive insights but he was just so glib, I just kind of held my breath and hoped for the best. Now we are four years in and we put up 70 on the Broncos but we can't beat the good teams and it seems all of our most talented players can't stay on the field and we now have one of the oldest teams in the league, which is okay if you are winning SB's but not good if you can't beat the playoff teams. i liked Tua at Bama and thought he would be amazing in the NFL, a modern day Griese, not the biggest arm but big enough and very accurate and very cerebral, but while he has played at a very high level, he is obviously dangerously injury prone and we haven't been able to give him a stout defense and all pro/HOF OL to make the running game go to make his job easier where they can beat the top teams. Other than the two WR's and Tua there isn''t a lot of talent on the team, well the two RB's have talent but they can't stay healthy and can't dominate the good defenses. I don't know who to blame, Grier or McDaniel's or both and bad luck (i really thought Jaelen Phillips had HOF, game changing talent (ala Jason Taylor), but he now appears his career is over before it even got started). But our team is now old and bereft of big talent on defense and the OL, so the window that McDaniels had to really set the world on fire is over and Tua is pretty much used up his nine lives and can't use his legs to get easy yardage so the offense is always on a razor thin line of success of failure...no easy plays unless the Chettah gets loose. I would be fine moving on from McDaniels and rebuilding and seeing if we can go 1-16 a couple years in a row and get some blue chip draft talent and hope there is a real QB talent available one of those years. I watched Shula after the SB championship teams talent disappeared (he did get back in '82 and '84, with an amazing defense in '82 and Marino's 48 TD years in '84), it seemed every year we had a winning record but always missed out on the blue chip talent at the top of the draft and the other teams just got more talented and we just kept having winning records but not good enough to win another SB. In short, I don't expect anything from this current roster and McDaniels and Grier have proven they can't build a championship contending roster, so I say blow it up and try something different in the personnel and the coach.
Y, yes, for sure! It's not a matter of "if". It's a matter of "when". And let's hope it's soon. Rather than hoping they win their last three games, let's hope they lose them all!
Miami is a town where players go to have a tax-free, 24-hr party, not work. What can a serious coach expect to achieve there? Remember how top vet D coach Fangio scrambled out of there ??
I mean, probably y but Mike McDaniels is a good coach and if it would just slid instead of getting a concussion, then we would’ve been 10 and four right now😢

They are not gonna fire Mike McDaniels bro. They just signed him to an extension this year. Yea we had a bad season. We need a real backup qb due to tua not being able to stay healthy. At also need to address our oline severely through this draft. We have a bunch of positions that we need to get younger at and stop signing injury prone vets looking for tax breaks and good weather.
A strong backup (because we signed a fragile QB). A whole OL. Plug the egregious D holes. You mean, basically a 75% rebuild. With Grier controlling things?? Plus, Miami is a town where players go to have a tax-free, 24-hr party, not work. What can a serious coach expect to achieve there? Remember how top vet D coach Fangio scrambled out of there ??
I like Vrabel! I think out of those coaches mentioned in this video, he has the best experience, and a good balance of offenses, defensive and special teams awareness.
Hey Nic, I love your content and your love and passion for The Miami Dolphins. Now I'm totally dead serious about this, but maybe you should apply for the GM job. Regardless, if they fire Chris Grier or not. Get your name in the main office. You're extremely articulate and can get your points across, you know your stuff with confidence and you know this team better than most people I've listen to. You really should apply. Life is unpredictable so anything can happen. Even if they aren't looking for a GM, JUST DO IT! It would be epic if they gave you the job.
Every play is designed to work, the difference is in the execution by the players but having said that the Head Coach decides which is the play the offense runs and that is where McD has to go
Well finally someone is talking about MCDANIELS replacement and all coaching staff,GM and of course QB1 are part of are the problem with the Miami Dolphins so, wish Santa can gave me the Good news and we start all over again from the ground period. Happy Holidays Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
For all people they want Flores back , it won’t happen with Ross under Dolphins . Flores said a lot of bad things about Ross. Please be serious and think in a good coach for the dolphins .
Miami has stability for the first time in years, and blowing it up now would be a massive step backward. The Dolphins have one of the most dangerous offenses in the league and a defense that’s improving under Vic Fangio. Grier and McDaniel deserve credit for getting the team to this point, and firing them now would be a huge overreaction. In my opinion, fans calling for their heads are being way too short-sighted. This team is built for long-term success, and Grier and McDaniel are the ones driving the ship.
mike as some potential to be a good OC and maybe a HC in the future but he hasn't changed as a coach, mike Vrabel brought the titans to a championship with only Tannehill, henry and aj brown. this team is the most talented team on paper and should be on field but with terrible offensive coaching you wont get much done
Pts per game doesn't matter KC has not scored more then 31 this yr and they have 1 loss. Game management and play scheme are McDaniels biggest issues. If they don't address the o line the offense will never beat good teams
If we hire a new coach. I don't want a young coach I want a proven coach. Young coordinators are usually good for a yr or two until teams figure them out like McDaniel. I said weaver when rumors first started wouldn't mind that
I've given up supporting this team, can't watch their incompetence any longer. I do hope they turn things around someday and become a competitor but not sure that can happen with Ross/Grier/McDaniel. Brian Flores was 2-1 against winning teams with Tua. This team is run by a dei 'budy' coach and the owner, if he does want to win, should look into the History of The Fins and what they did to win. The fans need to fire Ross by stop going to the games, stop watching the games on TV, stop buying the merchandise and carpet bomb the internet with calls for Ross to sell the team.
Doesn't matter the head coach the Phins culture is like a bag of soft serve on top of that south beach has distractions that's why studs get traded here and either get cut or hurt
If mike varbel is a top candidate, then he wont be a Dolphin. Look no big coach has signed with the dolphins since Grier. Why, theirs a reason they don't choose the Dolphins . We always get a new coach cause they are the left overs who don't have options.
Look eveyone knows this here, this is the same shit diff year with this TEAM this has been going ever year since Marino left , How many coaches have we been thru since Shula , yeah a lot it's rediclous we get new Coach and each one does terrible , than we rebuild than we lose than we fire than we rebuild it same shit , lets remember last SB was in what 1984 , last SB WIN was in like 73 , someone!!!! needs to BUY this TEAM and turn it into what it used to BE... a WINNING TEAM that DOMINATED the AFC EAST for a hell of long time , We need a NEW OWNER , NEW GM and Coach I feel they all had there chances ...TEAR IT DOWN BUILD it back up the right way...
For Coach I want Brian Flores back period why he come from a CHAMPIONSHIP PETTIGREE from New England Patriots also Stephen Ross need to RECONCILE back with Mr Brian Flores as the New GM because that what he wanted to do before Chris Grier lied on him and FIRED him,and now Brian Flores can replace Chris Grier with more Quality players and more effectively in selecting the right players for this DOLPHINS FRANCHISE
Should the Dolphins fire Mike McDaniel? Type ‘Y’ for Yes or ‘N’ for No

Without a change at GM new coach won’t matter
Who is your top Mike McDaniel replacement?
John gruden
JON GRUDEN
John Gruden.
Gruden will never coach in NFL ever again
How can you talk about head coaches before you really talk about the GM higher ? The GM is always gonna want to pick their head coach.
You should a GM replacement more than HC
Let the new GM decide the fate of Mike McDonalds (pun intended) but regardless, it will take a minimum to build a middle of the pack OL.
What's the pun????
McDaniel is not getting fired not saying he shouldn't but with Tua being out for weeks I think that saves him at least til next season.

YES along with grier. And the HC can draft a real QUARTERBACK.
Hell yes Mike vrabel
Tannehill didn't pan out cause as his tenure as Dolphins QB he was one of the most sacked QBs. We still have no O-line.

First things First!
Hire a GM with multiple successful mentors, Steelers Assistant GM Andy Weidl.
This move, if it ever happens, will be the clear sign that the Dolphins can be taken seriously at last.
We can't keep firing HCs and still build weak rosters, that is the GM's responsibility smh!!🤦🏽♂️💯🎯👍🏼

"Running the ball makes red zone problems go away" -- The NFL. Can't run the ball, you suck. Get real
Can you stop talking about firing McDaniel. Clearly you’re not a fan if you don’t see what he’s done. Stop with the three year regimes
Ross hires all garbage
Nic you should do. Who should replace your BS.
Goef is lityears better then Tua.
BEN CAN CALL PLAYS. MCDANIELS DESIGNES THEM. HE CANNOT CALL PLAYS. THATS THE DIFFERENCE
