Why would they? The two arent even remotely similar. Not to mention, BabyMetal has had multiple albums of the year, multiple awards, they've done multiple world tours, and have been on the cover of many magazines. I don't think they have anything to worry about.
Baby Metal is a pop product, created in the same manner as Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls. It is basically a pop group supported by a talent agency. Everything is done for them and they have great session players to provide the music. Hanabie on the other hand is an actual band, writing their own material. They never going to be as popular as a professionally built quasi-idol group.
They're not even comparable honestly, I don't listen to Band-Maid because they're too generic musically, that's not a negative against them, they're good at what they do, it's just too basic for me. I much prefer the multi-genre fusion of Hanabie with the sometimes rap, huge bass hits, memes in their videos, etc. There is no "better" just preferential style 🙂
Comparing those two bands musically is like comparing classical music with punk music. They are both really good in what they are doing, but their music is in two complete different worlds. Copying Band Maid on stage? Have you ever seen Band Maids' members stagediving or going down to the crowd playing in the moshpit?
