Really good photos. One suggestion - if your ceiling is not too high you could have a go at firing the light directly up at the ceiling (not at an angle). This can work well depending on the subject.
Excellent pics Matt, only thing suggest for improvement is if you look at most popular watch manufacturers you will see they set the time to 10.10 or 13.50 ish to get a symmetrical watch face

Fine photographs, the only thing I would have changed is mounting a classic 1930s (nickel) lens on the Leica III for total cool vintage look there. Yes, a tripod is pretty essential, if just to check/view (with some time/thinking) and make sure everything you want is in focus and sharp. Kind of obvious a marco lens is better corrected for close work, but they are also usually slower, and when stopping down to get more depth of field there is not the degradation in sharpness (internal aperture blade light reflection) at smaller than f8 apertures.
Something different and refreshing. Nice shots. The place to learn object photography and lighting is by Karl Taylor. Did you get your camera back from Amsterdam yet ? Hope it is good a s new again.
That's an interesting (internal?) bezel on the Marloe. Flag and bounce are good way to add and subtract reflective surface for watch photography. I used a large source directly over head usually on a boom arm for key, then small source with snoot to add shimmer or back light (tiny light cube that looks like GoPro Session with magnetic attachment).
Hey Matt✌ Great video, nice that you point it out, but I disagree with you because it also works with M cameras😁 I also often have ideas on how I can place and photograph something when I feel like product photography. Which I used to do very often with Sony. Recently one of the Barnack which was also published in the group. However, then with the M240 with the aid of the Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 2.4/35 as this also has a close-up limit of approx. 16cm. Possibly then also stop down more because the depth of field is very shallow.😉It works but in your case the Sigma is clearly better in this case also because of the focal length that you can adjust here and thus have a choice. In connection with the CL as an APSC and Sigma even more explicitly👌you learn a lot from it yourself, even if mistakes have occurred, I taught myself most of it. As they say, learning by doing 😁A tripod is an almost must-have for taking blur-free photos, as are the position and composition of the object to be photographed. Try out different perspectives. Thanks, yes 100%. I failed in many photos as I was taking images for multiple hours on day 1 and day 2 so when I set the hands to 10:10 etc they of course moved again after a few shots. Yes I found Marloe only a week ago but they offer top notch spec for the price. Amazing service and packaging.
With digital photography today, it is much easier to do product photography, back in the days when I worked as a professional with 4x4" and 5x7" analogue film, I used sometimes quite a lot of polaroids to check the light, focus, composition and to see if anything was "pointing" in the wrong direction. With digital, you can check in seconds and move on.

I'm 87. I have been a active photographer for 75 years! Two of my cameras are the CL. (film and digital) I love them both but it is very hard for me to focus the CL film version. I need your advice. Hi Roger, yes the film CL is awful for accuracy. I have it. The best of the best is a Leica M3 then any 0.85x finder M6/MP (older models), then Leica iii then all other M cameras in that order. See my EBL video or blog on MrLeica.com
I was hoping for a specific model. I have no way to look at various patches to see which would be best for my vision. Are there two or three specific Leica' cameras that might be the easiest to see. and so to focus.? You have seen them all and so I look to your advice. thanks
Nice video and nice watches ... Congrats for your new very nice yellow Marloe ... I love this kind of "macro watches" photo and as I do have few watches I did a lot of watches shots but I use a different technique : Focus bracketing (or focus stacking) with a Nikon D850 + AF-S 105mm f2.8 G ED VR Micro on tripod + indirect ligths. With the Nikon it is fully automatique to do focus bracketing so very easy. The down size is the time you spent behind the computer to postprod the image but the result are great. I tried to do focus bracketing with the SL3 and I used the AF point on the sceen changing the focus point by touch ... Result is ok but not as good as with the D850.With the SL3 I can do 5 to 10 shots manualy but the spaces between the images are not the same and as you touch the screen some images have to be re-align in Photoshop... With the D850 you can do up to 999 photos and set up the focus step width space in the menu so fast and very accurate and be @ full apperture f2,8... Just my 2 p... But your photos are very good I noticed you were @ f13 so my question is did you notice any chromatique aberation in your photos when zooming in ?

Yes on day 2 I stopped down much more to f13 at times. Yes some CA but not enough to wreck the photo. (See Flickr.. I didn't remove any CA in post). ..I have another plan so stayed tuned for part 2 :)
Nice video Matt. Given the accuracy of quartz watches (I have a few), it might seem crazy to acquire mechanical ones, but I really love the latter! Given the weather in your locale, a Q2 or Q3 might be a good upgrade for your Q. Ditto with an SL2 or SL3 instead of the SL.
Thanks John, the red strap Seiko is a Solar movement but yes I like the look of mechanical normally (the others). Yes if I was an outdoor shooter I would consider more waterproof options!

5x4 and 10x8 Sinars here with Polaroid peel aparts. I loved shooting 10x8 transparencies, such good fun, and the quality was amazing.
