The start sequence is misleading. On an alert KC135R, a scramble start begins with pushing an APU EWO button that brings up both APUs to 110%. The pilots can start engines in pairs. They should be able to taxi within 3 minutes of boarding the aircraft. If they use MITO (Minimum Interval Takeoff), they will takeoff between 15-30 secs between aircraft. This is not like the old KC135A with cart starting.
The Boeing 707 airliner series was based on the KC-135A, not the sequence as you stated.

The C-137 is based on the 707, such as the original presidential jets from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The KC-135s are based on the original Boeing jet transport prototype, the 367-80. The airlines didn’t like its 5 across seating; they wanted 6 across, thus a larger fuselage version.

Incorrect - the KC-135 is not based on the Boeing 707 airliner (Air Force jets that are based on the 707 are C-137, such as the first Presidential Jets). The KC-135 is actually based on the Boeing 367-80, which was Boeing's first demo jet powered airliner. The airlines upon seeing the 367-80 with it's 5 across seating desired 6 across, so the passenger jet 707 was built with a wider fuselage to fit the desired seating. There does exist commonality of some parts, but the fuselage section are of different diameters.

And we did sit alert after 911. For over a week. Right there in good ol 22 ARW. Boy, I hope they updated the alert building it was dated.

In the days of SAC, the whole alert force was to be off in 15 min. Don't understand SF putting ropes and stanchions in front of acft. The whole area was restricted. The Air Force in ways has gotten softer when it comes to handling security. Being a previous Security Police, things has changed alot. At least you have better protective gear. What we had before was a joke.

SAC crews also had alert birds in the " Christmas Tree", pulled 24 hour alert status , sometimes we were in the bird for hours pulling alert. A/c Commander (Capt.T. Thompson) ALWAYS grabbed the SP standing watch over our bird and took him with us....many an SP got to ' take a ride' when we did launch, most of the A/C skippers did grab our SP's when we did an Alert launch...two reasons...one(1) if it was real we weren't coming back ( SAC bases were target) and two(2) Capt.Thompson said " If we can land, SP's got the firepower!". SAC was high standards!
@@tankman7711 I worked in CP. That was due to either split launch or response time was cut down. I put in a report once that was inaccurate and SAC was calling while I was formatting a corrected copy. On that like stink on s---. Those were the days.
@@donmelton3289 It was a different time, a time of high standards and ' Your feelings don't matter, do the job right! ' sadly some things have changed for the worst...I recently saw SF ( modern SP's) on a BUFF base....on the flight line....setting in chairs!!! Found out they now observe the birds and no longer patrol the aircraft! The gate guards seemed more worried about how they were perceived than being the strict sky cops they use to be.
10 to 30 minutes? That's a joke. When I was in, 5 minutes max.

Had to wait for the trucks and electric vans to charge per our president orders.Then drive fast to the plane’s. Then wait for the batteries to charge for the start cart’s. By this time it’s a lost call. PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE SOMETHING BETTER.
Also, 3 minutes to start each engine? What about cart start? These crews are pathetic. 🤣
If it takes the maximum amount of time 30 minutes Then so much for having any refueling aircraft in the air for the bombers. Because it's estimated that any ICBM's or CB m's launched at the United States Would take a maximum of 15 to 20 minutes to reach their intended ground targets on the mainland so that's a little disheartening Which would include most Air Force installations.😕
