Ducks can deffo hold onto it. Had the same issue ... fox took out my khaki campbells. Had some eggs I'd been collecting, and one hen left that kept laying ... they hatched! Congrats to you and Zoe 😊

Congrats to you guys! Here in Oregon USA, coyotes are the problem, and they will tear sheep up also, oh and hawks will pick your hens off also. We would gladly take that rain you’re getting!
Also think if you put the ducks in the house every night build them a raised house (a lil shed to high for any fox to climb up and have a removable plank to walk ip and down in the morning and night with a guillotine type door that locks open and closed so the fox could not possibly get in at all..

Congratulations to the both of you! When you make the leap you will be getting a solar panel for every fence. I wouldn't twice. Have one small panel for a fencer which runs all summer long. At worst i only have to charge it once.

How do you fence? Net or wire? Here we have fox, mongoose and weasel. We had a duck with the chickens against the mongoose but unfortunately she died last week ( at least 9 years old). I'd love for them to free range in the fields but I'd be scared to have them taken out by some predator. As before we lost all our chickens two years ago. Nothing to be found but blood and feathers.

Not silly at all.. happened to us also we had chickens and ducks in our 50ishm long x6m wide garden.. 2x fox got in and had all of them in the end.. bloody awful! The duck eggs will still be fertile I would have thought.. they have a long line of eggs growing in the lady bits.. if you dispatch a hen or female duck you can see the cycle it's kinda crazy.. 1st egg in line has a full shell the next 3 go smaller in side and less hard shell.. etc efc to the size of a pea.. like 15 eggs in a row..
From the picture, it looks like a great time was had by all. Sorry Indie will miss her evening swim taking the ducks off the pond and putting them to bed. The dairy farm looks like it had fallen into neglect, A A Milne’s Ee-Orr would love all those thistles. Well at leat it probably is parasite clean for sheep.

I recommend an electric fence for the ducks! We got one for our chickens, they are free range and haven't had a fox attached since!
