Whitney Wolfe Herd reminds me of a Milli-Vanilli story with a touch of the ousted WeWork ex-CEO. She's not a fraud like Elizabeth Holmes, nor is her self-made billionaire status exactly like Kylie Jenner's false claims- Kylie was actually more hands on in building up her own product line, though.
With Milli-Vanilli, a big record label wanted to make a big hit band. The music execs hired songwriters & two real good singers, and then recruited two good-looking models to do the lip-syncing.
Bumble was created and built by a Russian tech billionaire with his own tech team. He then recruited Whitney Wolfe Herd to just be the face of the product. She put in the work, but calling her a founder or self-made billionaire is totally inaccurate. It's like saying Shaq founded Papa John's.
