This was great man, a lot of people in my generation and yours (I imagine) started watching Rob&Big in high school / as teenagers and they always made my day. A lot of people felt it when Chris died and I even remember being upset just by him choosing to leave the show as a lot of my guy friends were either getting married or having kids at the time so they had to draw a line between our friendships and "grow up". I haven't had kids or anything in my life and don't really watch ridiculousness because of Chanelles canned laughter but once in awhile ill watch some of the old school R&B clips and chuckle while remembering where I was and what was going on in my life at the time. I myself, as well as a lot of other guys, appreciate you putting this together. Take care buddy, like you said, at least we still have those episodes to reflect on when we need a laugh or an escape from the present just for a minute.

Im a 38 year old black man during the time period when rob and big and fantasy factory was on was a rough period of my life. I was living in the ghetto dead broke but the one bright spot was rob and big. It made me forget my problem. Fantasy factory really taught me to chase my dreams. Last week I literally finished my masters degree program. Those shows helped to mold me.

Chris was my friend…I met him when we both worked for “The Good Guys” we delivered big screen TVs back then… He also worked as a security guard at “The Blue Tattoo” night club here in San Diego…. I remember the night he told me “Wee I’m moving to LA to be a bodyguard for this white boy skateboarder” I thought, Why does a skateboarder need security… Then the show came out… He hit me up on Facebook often… The last message he sent me was after his daughter was born and he did the Sean John photo shoot he said “Check yo boy out Wee!!… I’m a model” Chris was HELLA COOL I am proud to say that he was my homeboy… Much Love

I get a lot of comments from people who are lying through their teeth (or their fingers, I guess), but the Sean John photo shoot portion of your comment tells me that you're 100% legit. Not many people are even aware of that photo shoot, but there's a great video surrounding it on UA-cam that makes me miss Big Black even more than I already did. Thank you for sharing your memories of Chris, I'll pin this comment to the top of the comments section so other people can read it as well.

Although I am not a fan of racing (went along with a buddy) - I will not forget the time he took for me to get a picture and shake my hand and THANK ME for being a veteran. As a skater with over two decades under my belt, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you were. I think it's awesome how much you went into the skateboarding careers of both Dyrdek and Lee, which are routinely overlooked by the conventional media despite how influential both their careers were- Dyrdek had a massive influence on the business side of skating, especially the skate shoe business, while Lee's overall influence on just about every aspect skating can't possibly be overstated. Anyway, thank you for the awesome videos; they are truly premium content IMO.

The thing is though, these two were never truly best friends. Rob himself sort of admits this, especially since his career as a skateboarder wasn't as good as he hoped until he released that security tape. He hired Christopher as his security guard, and when he saw a glimmer of success from his tape, it was a business move to pitch their friendship to the network as a show about two odd bestfriends. They were business partners who did develop a friendship through their course of the business, but they didn't start as these bestfriends that the show pitched them to be. I can see how Big started feeling animosity towards Rob but it also comes across as him being ungrateful for the opportunity that Rob put them in. Season 3 became focused on writing, because Rob is a creator and a business man. Big Black seemed to just want to show up and be himself, since being organic is what made the first two seasons a success. Their differences ultimately took a toll on their friendship, but it's good to see they patched things up before Big Black passed though.
