My favorite split conversion ever happened in a family doubles tournament. I was bowling Open (adult hdcap) division with my dad. A 5 yr old girl bowling Bantam division with her Grandpa made the 5-10 when her 6lb ball kissed the 5 pin and skidded into the 10. It was a 6 lane house and everyone high fived her! People came out of the bar to congratulate her. BTW, this was years before bumper bowling. She became the house Princess that day. .
My reaction: "NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! FIRST EVER DOUBLE PINOCHLE MAKE ON TV AND IT'S A GUY WITH A STICK PERMANENTLY UP HIS ASS?!?!?!? GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!"
I learned two things here... (1) pro bowlers are now dressing like NASCAR drivers; and (2) youtube bowling video commenters are pedantic about the meaning of "split", and salty about music
Wood Gecko Guess it's whatever you want to classify it as...Just like a lot of people still say 4 bagger instead of Hambone...I still call Pluto a planet (glad they changed it back) instead of when they tried to say a asteroid. A 3-10 is called a split but people call it a baby split. A washout is still a plit even though people call it something else and it doesn't have "split" in it's name. It still shows up electronically as a circle. I don't really care either way...maybe it needs to get protested like everything else by a lot of stupid people in this world are doing...seems to work...maybe it will get hcnaged then...
Ciminelli has good sportsman ship when Belmonte made the two splits congrats him on picking them up and even tho he lost he didn’t had poor sportsmanship
The 7-10 Split is the most difficult spare to get because it’s so luck-based. It all depends on the angle the ball hits a pin at combined with how that pin bounces off the curtain behind the pin deck. Because the barrier between the pin deck and the machinery behind it that’s part of the pin setting equipment is a flimsy curtain instead of a solid wall, most of the pin’s kinetic energy is transferred to the curtain, causing it to swing out and slow down the pin!
Thank you, I learnt three things from watching this; 1. You don’t have to put your fingers in those dam holes. 2. You can throw the ball with two hands. 3. Your not meant to go for a strike I’m going bowling tonight!!!
Well, I think people don't like the music because it's 2 separate sounds in 1 video. While some people are trying to listen to the bowling, others might be trying to listen to the music. And what Patrick Sablan said was irrelevant because I never said I hated the music. I think the music is fine, its just either have one or the other. But hey, everybody has their own opinion.
Jan Chapman Yes. In the second one, the headpin remained standing. If the headpin is still up, it isn't a split. It is still an impressive shot, however.
Ben NCM What the hell dude I'm convinced you're following me, I replied to your Tweet with Jeff Marek in the other day and now I see you randomly here while searching for ways to make me better at bowling. Weird!
I just converted the 4-7 9-10 today....by luck, of course. I'm a right-handed bowler, looking to skim the left side of the 4 pin, and end up skimming the right side of it, bounces off the side wall, hits the 7, the 7 jumps in the air, falls under itself and hits the 9. the 9 slides under itself and hits the 10. Pretty cool to watch.....and it will never happen again. :-)
The 3volution I know this comment is really.old, but I thought it was great because I did the same thing today. I think it's not that hard to pick up because all I do is move 6 boards to the left and throw between 3 and 4. picked it up 4 times this season.
I've been paying consistent for a couple months now and converted the 6,7,10(or the reverse)about 4-5 times(shockingly). I always send the middle pin into the single by hitting it in the side and sliding it across. That being said, I dunno why so many bowlers cheer and fist pump when a messenger comes out of the pit to hit a pin while also being upset if they were to beat someone with a couple shots that go Brooklyn.
The first time I collected a 7-10 split I was 11 years old in my first year of juniors league and executed it the exact same way as old mate does at 3:57, from right to left straight diagonal line to the left side of the pin. Best feeling getting it for the first time. Gotta get back into bowling!! Fuckin love n miss the sound of a bowling alley with all the pins smashing, the ball rolling on wood the background noise of the arcade games, the balls getting regurgitated out the shoot and the machinery setting pins up...aaahhh sounds like home for me.
For those on the East Coast, you all know that Duckpin is way more challenging in my opinion than 10-Pin. Also that second wasnt a split if it was a split it need 1. The head pin does standing 2. need at least 1 pin gab (can have more than 1 gab) the second one was 1-3-4-7-9-10
On this video, this bowler left a 1-3-4-6-7-10 pins standing. How weird, and it is a washout. A washout can be a 1-2-10 or a 1-2-4-10 pins standing, and it is not a split when a headpin (number 1) is standing.
@@JoeMama-bw2vy If anything 7-10 is the toughest. The 4-6 I have made once ever before and it's just like making the 8-10 or 7-9. You have to basically slice the pin for it to tip over into the other
I made the 2-7-10 once. If I leave the 7-10 split, I always go for the 7, because I am left handed. I would do the same thing for the 4-6 split, go for the 4.
Apparently I've read that if the headpin is still standing from an off-hit and cuts through the heart like Rhino's, it's called a washout, not a split... is it still called a 'washout' even if it's the 1-7-10?

Bold assumption to say they dont respect the sport. I think it is more human nature to correct something that you know is wrong.
At least you are being honest
Still one of my favorite videos to go back and watch. MUSIC IS GREAT, and the split conversions are great too!
Same here! This is one of my favorite videos!
Music sucks
I could have done with the music being a little less loud, though.
Second one isn't a split, it's a washout, head pin is still standing.
true that
Odd leave. I've never seen that washout
Anthony Ronacher Still a split...anything with a gap is a split...also still shows a circle up on the scoreboard for a split...
DASamX5453 no its a washout you cant have a split if the head pin is still standing

I'm reading through the comments and I am not disappointed. I never knew people could get so angry over some music.
Belmo - heck of a conversion on the 3-4-6-7-9-10. It took that big hook to slide over the 3 and continuing hooking to carry the 6 and split the 9-10
Love the reaction at 0:37 from the shot at 0:31

I’m not so sure converting the 7-10 split is based on luck as it’s now pretty apparent that there’s a definite methodology to picking it up.
It's actually the 2,8,10 or 3,9,7 mathematically it's the hardest conversion on the pba tour next to the Greek church.
3:07 "I'm not sure I've ever seen the 2-8-10 made on TV"
The next clip : Another 2-8-10 made on TV
If you pay attention then you would know that the second clip of the 2-8-10 is younger than the previous one.
One can only be amazed at the incredible skill of some of these guys of the bowling lanes.
Picking up the 7-10 should be an insta win

Why would people cover themselves in glitter and glue?

The coolest thing you see on recorded video from PBA is a Single player that works up trying to win over a 7-10 split. That doesn't mostly happen.
