my parents and stayed here for 2 weeks back in the 70's when it was the Newporter Inn. it cost like $120 a day back then even. but it was worth it, they had 3-4 restaurants. I rememeber one was very luxurious. and had a harp player. and there was a french style Cafe, beautiful pool which you showed in the vid. shops, and beautiful landscaping and so much more. a true 5 star Hotel. we had a wonderful time!
This hotel is good for visiting Fashion Island, bunny henge, and Newport Beach pier (or balboa pier if the parking's overloaded at the Newport beach pier). The new lobby definitely brings new light to the place. In addition to this fine establishment, Newport beach seem to be host to a few other interesting hotels based on some recent research of mine. There's Lido House (a nautical themed boutique), there's the VEA resort (a sleek modern resort that I've had my eye on for a while, right on the perimeter of Fashion island), both of which are under Marriott's umbrella. Apparently there's a Pendry too, much to my surprise, and I didn't know until recently they were a chain (they have a 5-star location in San Diego), have not tried any Pendry yet.

Love the S'mores kit for the firepits idea. Wish more hotels had this..
It’s a nice feature that more hotels are adding.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story! We like staying here for quick weekend staycations! It’s good they’re updating the property a little bit.
