This work is one of Piazzolla’s best known fugues. It is part of the Ángel series, which he composed between 1962 and 1965 and includes Tango del Ángel, Introducción al Ángel, Milonga del Ángel, Muerte del Ángel and Resurrección del Ángel. These pieces are a one-of-a-kind beauty, originally intended as music for a ballet.
