Ive been thinking about another scope for a second work area. so thanks for bringing a somewhat cheaper model and talking about it. Not sure about that arm tho. Never had much luck with those types lasting long.
Thanks for your clear and in-depth review. I've seen a few videos where people said this was great for jewellery work, but I would be using it for electronics (like yourself), and it was good to see that it was fit for my purpose. Cheers!
They've also got a trionocular but on a basic stand instead of the arm. The optical assembly looks to be the same basic design so might be able to fit it to the arm if one was willing to buy both.
I just got the trinocular version with the basic stand for $290 Aud and it’s amazing Will add ring light and camera later But awesome for the price 👍👍👍
if you choose a trinocular one ,absolutely choose one with simul focal, so you can record/stream what you see without cut out the left side. the vevor one beat the crap of the SE400(from amscope). sometimes, you could need to put your microscope outside the area of the desk, something imossible with a static stand. the day you choose to do some youtube video, you can keep the vevor stand and change only the microscope head assembly: the price of an articulated stand is so expensive you can consider it(you'll not lose money)
Just ordered one with the US link. Hopefully you get some type of credit for it. I've been looking at review, after review of others until I stumbled on this. Will have to find a way to make it more portable between my work bench and kitchen table...lol
Great review, Just ordered myself one. Question about your work surface. How deep is it? I am building a new work space and want to know how deep I should make it. Your depth looks good.
Like the one I got! Did not get a cover or a kitten though. Also I have it set too to swing it out of the way and the sleeve that adjusts the height with the knob, when I swing it out of the way the mount will actually hit the knob, loosening the knob and showing the whole assembly to crash all the way down. Think I’m going to have to either notch the base or grind down the nubs in the knob..
Perhaps a dumb question, but should the scope be perpendicular to the object/workspace your viewing? For the most part, it appears that's the way you're using it in the video. I know the ability to change this exists, but does it change the focus of object, so maybe part in focus, part not in focus?
Thank you Sir for a great review. Without it I wouldn't have been able to work out the many features of my Vevo microscope. Still I don't know how to use the camera adapter and a couple other rings but I'll get there. Thanks again.
Can this be installed for use with an overhead storage position. As if in your installation would the head reach below the bench. I want to attach it to a shelf over my bed! Then pull it down to use it.
Speaking of Microscopes, you wouldn't by any chance have a broken OMAX scope (model XM82ESC02) with an intact and functional LED control board, would you? I accidentaly blew out my board and need a replacement but the company apparently can't offer a replacement for purchase. Cheers!
This 'barlow' lens actually reduces magnification by increasing focal distance. If you used a magnifying Barlow lens then you would significantly reduce the focal distance and effectively turn it into a lab microscope with very little working space under the head.
This is exactly what I want to do! I want to know whether or not I can use this microscope to see Mycelium too in a Petri dish. I mostly do electronics work, but I want to start growing mushrooms.@@davidh1187
Better than no microscope. The arm tension is 'adjustable' to a point but still 'stiff' at best. Oddly, the microscope head can be rotated around to the side (either side) although the head needs to be angled. This angle, however, does not have a significant effect on the focus within the FOV so the arm can be mounted off to the side rather than somewhere in front of you. The focus adjustment can be adjusted by loosening the 2 bolts nearest the microscope head (loosening the bolts is the way you adjust tension of all movement - not ideal and will need continual adjustment throughout the life of the scope. Optics are very good, works with or without my glasses (without glasses I get a slightly bigger FOV). Yes watch for things that come apart in shipping. One of the very, very tiny eyepiece lock screws was loose in the box. I was fortunate to find mine - pure luck (~1mm x 3mm screw). I just G clamped my base to my table rather than bolting/screwing it to the table.
If you search for “microscope ring light” I think you’ll find that most are around the same size. The one I have has an inner diameter of 60mm and an outer diameter of 100mm.
Bruce, I've got a A1058 I need the cap list for, keep seeing 25 caps kit but want to do all of them (34) do you know where I can get a list of them from? Oh and nice scope but they are discontinued in UK so it's back to searching.
The one I use in this video was actually quite expensive (too expensive). If you visit Amazon and do a search for "144 led ring light" you should find plenty of low cost options to choose from.
$50+ for a ring light is no small amount. I'd have expected the company to include some sort of a light at this price point. Also, lacking digital media interface is a bit of a deal-breaker for me as I would be interested in capturing my work for reference and educational purposes. Overall, very good review, thanks!
I really enjoy your skill at making and getting across the message of your video topics. Do you have a link to the ring light? It's terrible being half blind, huh what did He say. 😉 (getting old) 😮 😀
My ring light was included with my other microscope, but if you search for "microscope ring light" on Amazon, you should find plenty of options around the $25 - $30 mark.
Bruce, just getting into getting my feet wet with circuit board repair. Just had a few questions if you will. What causes so much black to show up when looking through the scope? I feel if I move my head ever so slightly the image goes black. Also, can one buy the adapter you made? I'm blind in my right eye so I just really need one eye piece. Is it normal to hear what sounds like glass crunching together when focusing?
It is quite normal to need to look at the exact right distance and angle to get the best view. This is the same with all optical microscopes I have tried (and telescopes for that matter). I'd be happy for you to use my camera adapter, but when the camera is connected, it actually stops you from being able to put look in the other eyepiece because it gets in the way. When you are focusing, you might be hearing the sound of grease sticking and unsticking to the gears as they rotate. It makes a sort of crackling sound.
@@BranchusCreationsThanks for the reply!! So doe the adapter go so far in that it blocks the view of the other eye piece? If not, I can slide over and use my good eye(lol) in the right eye piece.
Hello @branchuscreations i was looking to purchase the microscope for stone setting (jewelry) the one i currently have currently blurrs once i move the piece up or down less than a CM, is the focus of this microscope good enough for me to still see without having to adjust the height of the microscope everytime what i focus on moves up and down one centimeter?
@consolegear 1 hour ago (edited) Besides using this for SMD components would this be useful for through hole components on lower magnifications? My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be :(
I really appreciate how thorough your review is. Really well done, thanks!
Just ordered one. Thanks for your review. With ring light. Jewelry and engraving work.
I think this is the second time I've found you while contemplating technical purchases. Great presentation and very thorough reviews!🔔
Great review. Covers everything. Thanks.
Man that articulating arm looks like a beast!

So is compatible with trinocular? What about the head rest?

That was a really good review mate. If only it came with a clap option and I would be sold. The price is crazy cheap for the features.

What’s the difference between a 3.5x-45x scope and a 3.5x-90x? Can I convert them using Barlow lenses?
I'm really tempted to grab one of these. Do vevor give you the choice on picking the colour of kitten they include?

Excellent review and video! I didn't know that the microscope came with a cat scanner ;) Thanks for sharing
I would love to see the barlow lens and whether or not that can be replaced to increase magnification

Thank you for the video, can you tell me the diameter so I can buy a light to illuminate. THANKS
Thank you for the review. What is the link for the ring light? 1444LEDring light?
How about mounting it to a sturdy roll-around table?
Sure, that could work.
Unfortunately Vevor does not sell into New Zealand....I would have already bought their ultrasonic bath.
I'm in the market to buy a microscope, but I can't buy this one -- I can't afford any more cats!
You mention the dangers of the pinch points for little kids, These pinch point are also specifically dangerous for Steven 🤣

In Europe there is a Vevor Trinocular Microscope for 400€ "SMXWJ3.5X-90XJSB1V0" I bought it and will test it

Nylon lock nuts make perfect sense.
Did I miss the X's, power?
I mention it in the summary. It’s 7X - 45X.
Had you bolted the scope on a surface other than your workbench, vibrations could be avoided altogether but of course you be the judge of that.
It's the only surface I have to bolt to. My workshop is a garden shed.
epic.thank you very much ❤
nice t shirt

Unfortunately already sold out in Europe. Bruce, you shouldn’t be so convincing 🤓
That's disappointing. I'll try and find out when new stock is expected.
For the EU, Vevor replied back in stock 19th July, on aliexpress nice discount till 21 april, the same but dual and single arm stands
