Wow what a movie! Did they empty out every studio in Hollywood of their top character actors?! Because the familiar faces in this one were just too numerous to count, including some interesting surprises, like the feisty daughter of Edward Arnold ( the one that had the fight with O'Brian in his apartment, here as a blonde) was Martha Vickers the same actress who a couple of years later, with dark hair, played the crazy drugged out sister to Lauren Bacall in the Bogart flick "The Big Sleep". And did you recognize a young Evelyn Keyes here playing a very out of character small part of the second giggly secretary? Much different than her later villainous femme fatal , film noir roles. I couldn't help feeling a little exhausted when this film ended, with so much frantic activity and complicated plot twist and turns. By the way the beautiful building at 50:05 is the Pasadena city hall ( I used to live near there).
I love film noir for the non-stop quips and witty banter, and this movie is an excellent example of what I mean. They really don't write clever dialogue like they used to! Some favourites, just for my own reference: "Let's have a heart-to-heart." "What would you use?" "He resisted and threatened to throw me over that bowl of shrubbery." "That's not true Humbold; I said that one." "This investigation has turned into a three-ring circus." "Two tickets, please." "What'd you suppose they're looking for?" "I think... it's a treasure hunt where they're supposed to bring a couple of lawyers." "Maybe we oughta leave it like this, and next time they'll straighten it up, huh?" "The whole picture comes to me at once - including the frame."
Thank you C C C for thinking of us 🍿 This promises to be quite entertaining 🍒☀️🍄🌷 A good laugh is worth any trip to the psychiatrist 🦥🐈🦄🐥 You are always the very Best 🐯🦊
Pat O'Brien w/a mustach? Great light hearted mystery starring Eve Arden as the lackadaisical secretary. The Puss character too dim & childish to be a convincing femme fatal. Plot was great~think Thin Man w/o William Powell (ahhhh..that's why Pat had a mustach!)
Hahahahaha! Slightly Honourable?!?! What's the real meaning ?! I don't know !!!I am a honourable queen !hahahahahaha! Its my birth right no body catch it from me !hahahahaha! I love you my dear friends ! 👸 🙏
Great cast, I enjoyed the movie; thank God, some of those customs have changed. The only complaint would be the music was too much, too carnival, too loud. Better than a laugh track though. Thank you so much for posting! Everybody needs some comic relief right now.
I like these kind of drama comedy. Great upload.
GREAT MOVIE, THANK YOU.

Good film
So it turns out Broderick Crawford could actually act. Never would have guessed based on Highway Patrol.
Crawford probably suffered from excessive exposure to "Dragnet" and its deadpan delivery.
great film with Broderick, Donna Reed and John Derek, I just watched here on youtube last week. 1952's Scandel Street.
Check out Born Yesterday with Crawford, Wiiliam Holden and Billie Holiday.
All the Kings Men won Broderick Crawford a well deserved Academy Award in 1949.
Espero que esté en español, o al menos subtitulada

This is screwball Comedy
Not Film Noir
Isn't the synopsis a bit off? Just sayin.
3.22 The crook with the sigar sounds exactly like Groucho Marx, actually everybody in thi film sounded like Groucho.
