As someone who struggles with maximizing KPIs and availability of backend API authentication services, I appreciated Ross Elefant's insight into the necessity of minimizing token query latency and the importance of cross-team cooperation. Containerization just last year allowed us to switch to a CI/CD pipeline for our k8s-deployed API auth project that took us from bearer tokens to oauth. The business impact to our customers was literally incalculable.
Without a continuous model validation ML pipeline it's no wonder you weren't able to predict a business impact calculation. At least make your CI builds hermetic with bazel so you can graph dependencies like a boss while staging repeatable builds all night, all day.
When requesting a token, do you ever wonder whether that token actually wants to come? Maybe it's enjoying its short time before being expired. Just going on some adventures through webs or enjoying the safety of trusted network? Thanks to Oracle now that Token can spend 30% more time enjoying its freedom. You go, Token! Good on you, buddy! It isn't always about what we want. Indeed, a big win!
Rewatched this many times and just noticed that he calls the dev "Ross Elephant" but his name was "Ross LeFontaine". Every second of this video is just pure art.
Although it's not possible for users to display their birthday on the user profile because OMEGA STAR Ω still doesn't support ISO timestamps, the performance of their logging API is *reduced* by 30%. Customer satisfaction achieved.
I really love how the API team is driving customer value indicators by reducing token response time. I also love how this was a collaborative and inclusatory teamwork achievement, way to go Ops team.
Hey Ross. I don't know if you ever read these, but your last talk on deploying serverless react apps with AWS Amplify changed my life! Thank you so much brother!! 🙌🏽
I love the detail of Ross's shirt being clearly put over a different shirt just for this video. I think about it all the time. I really, really appreciate that.
It has the exact level of mic quality seen at these meetings. The technical guy is always slightly too far and it makes it ever so slightly quiet. Perfect.

My theory is that the social skill level of these guys was so extremely low that an underflow happened, sending their powers to unprecedented highs and enabling them to make sarcastic meta commentary of godlike quality. We need to enjoy them as much as we can before someone notices the error and makes a rollback or pushes a hotfix.
Really appreciated Ross' deep dive session on JWT ROT13 encryption, and how using Solaris at the gateway successfully reduced API performance by another staggering 70%. Thanks Orange
So accurate😂. I love how the developer advocate is so yuppy and high energy, and the techlead sounds like he doesn't want to be here, and would rather jump off a bridge.
Thank you for the great session. I am a bootcamp student currently learning HTML and I have wanted to work at Oracle ever since I was rejected from Med School. I have completed several HTML projects and am also very interested in Machine Learning and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Can you offer a referral for me?
Hello! I'm always super excited when the product I use has an amazing 30% reduction in performance!
When the devs take the term “slow down loop” too seriously
Waiting for the token makes you appreciate it more
It’s actually good UX because slowdown gives the user time to reflect about the technological society and its consequences.
I almost thought he was going to say something like 30% reduction in latency.

The real big win is the friends we made along the way
Yeah when the developer looks at the dude, he can't even see him through the plant even though he's acting as if he does.
This isn't even an exaggeration. That's literally how these things go.
