just saw Zabiela yesterday in NYC...my impression: Coors LIght is to beer, as Zabiela is to dance music. coors light sells their beer on how cold it is. Zabiela sells himself on loud his music is. it was so loud that all its musicality was lost...it was a soulless, joyless set that seemed never to end. but thankfully it finally did.
@eshcaine I'm glad you like Zabiela...we all have our tastes, so if you like it, very cool. the sound was definitely Zabiela's deal...he started the set with a few kicks from his iPad, which were so loud and rich my nose hairs were vibrating; it seriously took people's breath away. which is cool on one level, but sorta weak on another, when you leave it that loud for two hours. anyway, enjoy.
@Hollowpoint321 david guetta is shit in general, not just in comparison. zabiela's work is effortlessly ingenius. he covers so many different styles of edm and is always surprising with his change ups.
@markalexandre I totally respect yr opinion, too.there was a ton of kids there loving what he was putting down, so you're not alone..we all like what we like. yes, headliners' volume is usually louder, I've seen a thousand sets, and spun plenty myself. if fatboy slim's vol. was the same, tho, it's just a matter of a difference in style. zabiela's music is so rich and full, it probably takes up more 'space,' if you will. but it's still boring to me, no matter how technologically advanced it is.
@listenheredc Not sure what set you were listening to but I respectfully disagree. There was no issue with the volume - it was the same volume for Fatboy Slim. The music will always be turned up a tad higher for a headliner, and Zabs was a headliner. As for the music, eschaine is right, it's your opinion, and it's respected, but it was a classic mixture of techno, breaks and dubstep (the good time) / drum n bass.
