Great tips! I save my max-effort swings for the end, when I do a game called A Blast And A Bunt, where I have to drive one and then lay one down. But having watched this, I will start doing lower-effort, more controlled swings at the beginning.

Thank you coach Matt for this wonderful insight. I just showed my 13 yr old son this video before hitting with him and something clicked in his head as he always goes maximum effort all throughout tee work, front toss etc. This is how your craft gets honed. Great stuff!

Matt, thank you making this video. I’ve been following you since you started this UA-cam journey while you were still a player!
This video maybe one of my favorite videos you’ve made in my opinion..because, it speaks LOUDLY to our data-driven hitting culture which influences our coaches and players do almost the opposite what you just said to do and opposite to what high level hitters actually practice.

Attacking the inside of the ball - if I’ve heard it before, I’ve never realized the importance or benefits (backspin). I’m not sure I know where to begin to learn how to do that and still hit to the pull side gap.
