That pitching coach tan so dark I thought he was a brother until he turned around
Facts😂
His tan so dark ppl follow him down the street to see where the good Mexican restaurants are.
I thought the same. I was wondering why Jomboy said great tan when obviously he's a brotha. Then he turned around, I was like, oh.
lol, I was wondering about Jomboy's comment about his tan line. Then he turned around.
I was like "Man, Jomboy, you can't say 'nice tan' to a black dude..." then he turned around.
That catcher is doing wayyyyy too much with the glove.
Seems like there's room for improvement.
seriously! slide the body, man. Nobody's fooled by the quick 4 inch jerk of the mitt.
Exactly what I thought. His catcher was doing him no favors.
They ALL do. Even kids.
I hate that shit, framing pitches is one thing but super conspicuously pulling your glove every single pitch is fucking dumb. If anything doing that shit will probably make the home plate ump harder on you, just like we saw here.
3:51 Always love to see the full Surprised Pikachu reaction
Lmao I love the petty strategy and I find it really funny that the ump wasn't fooled at all
It's at all levels of the game. We did it in high school and I did it when coaching little league. I'm surprised the ump threw him out, that's generally accepted.
@@Alexander_Grant for sure. Ump got butt hurt. He could have just taken notice and said "lets get back to the game".
I agree. It’s so funny how immature it is. I love it.
@@Alexander_Grant petty for petty. I can see it, especially since it isn't an active player.
I don't see how the empire can go out there to the mound and throw him out when he's not even facing him even if he is talking about him. F the umpires
Catcher trying to frame pitches that are 6 inches outside is probably making the ump frustrated.
@@connerastrader I only saw one pitch that might have actually been a strike. What were the other two?
When you receive a strike and still yank it over four inches.
You do know that is what they are supposed to do right?
There are catchers that do it so much better. Subtle.
This guy holds his glove steady and suddenly yanks it over when the ball hits.
Ump probably should not be so trash and look where the pitches actually are then.
The awareness to read that he’s saying “is the ump coming” based on the body language of the nearby players is crazy good
there is a reason why we say "don't look now, but..."
pretty sure the ump figured it out too lol
It's not that deep
You gotta practice those, you need one person looking side-eye not four dudes whipping their necks around. 🤦♂️ Minor leagues for sure.
@@theblode1337 they still always look...
"It's more funny anyway" Well I'm sold.
I never thought I’d see the day when my hometown minor league team is on a jomboy breakdown
same
937 GANG
Let's gooooo I remember moving to Dayton as a kid and going to Dragons games and thinking that it was the same as going to Cubs games when I lived in Chicago. Not quite!
Man, I was at that game. I was so confused when dude was ejected. Glad to finally have some context
yeah from the look from your view prob looked like ump didn't agree that he should bean the next 5 batters
@anderivative "looked like ump didn't agree that he should bean the next 5 batters"
What does that mean?
jomboys channel is a national treasure
Dragons rocking that classic neon orange-red, purple, and emerald colourway.
Colourway - wow what is that?
@@mphaileya douchey way to sound sofisticated
"Friday Orange" is what I call it, with their green uniforms are what I like to call "Sunday Green" not unlike the Lakers' "Sunday White"
That catcher didnt really help trying to frame like a Major Leaguer. Moving the glove too much is going to cause the ump to not call something more than you can steal a low or inside ball
Catcher was trying too hard to frame. It was too obvious.
the catcher also gave away the trick by "suddenly staring" at the ump, his frame jobs are too jerky and his peeping skills are all jerky... what a jerk.
That’s how the reds teach their catchers to frame
I just thought they are always trained to frame it. Even little league players do it. But, yeah, they do it so extremely that it makes sense you learn moderation as you advance.
Thing is, Foolish Bailey made a video about this, how he hates those damn Yankers. But the yankers are also great framers. It isn’t elegant, but statistically speaking it works more often than subtle sleight of hand.
This catcher proves the value of a good catcher, by showing how being bad with the glove can cost your team calls. He frames the bad ones like crap, and his glove moves around so much on the decent ones they still look bad
I tried framing some bad pitches she I was in high school. I remember the ump telling me, “kid, you can’t put lipstick on a pig.”
And he drops the only strike
Everyone stays a kid, saying “what? Me? No. Nah ahh!!!”
The Umps watch Jomboy too, so they know better now. 😄
Umps have known about this for a long time. Been going on for years.
Thanks for taking this request! It was a crazy night for sure, and it's great to see this hilarious breakdown!
I worked at a minor league park where they used the robo strikezone only saw one balls and strike argument all season and it was hilarious.
The black ump you could see smiling as he came into the fray. 😅
The guy on the left, his shocked face lmao😂
Ok dont everyone look at once lmao
That never works anyway lol
Ump approaching his conversation is literally exactly what he wanted?
Jomboy explained it to you and you're still confused lmao
@@echalvorson His point is, the players weren't very smooth with their looks and nods all in unison.
3rd base ump knew exactly what was going on, he was smiling ear to ear.
saw that...this clip is great
Yeah i'm not sure you can bump a pitching coach for telling his guy to keep doing what he's doing and the ump sucks? lol
Seems like they have to let that slide
@@ericm4658
No way. The pitching coach was going to stay out there all day until the ump showed up so he could tell him off.
@@jimwerther Well that seems to be true but I'm not sure that changes anything
It's just funnier
Where do you see the 3rd base ump? Looking but can't find
guy on the left with the funny reaction is studly prospect Cam Collier
I was at that game I had zero idea what was going on. Thanks for the video!
Best lip reading on the internet. Love it. Don't even watch baseball.
I don’t watch any sports. Jomboy is going to bring me anything that was worth seeing.
That’s an amazing strategy. You over heard me well that’s not my problem. Love it!
This game was between The Dayton Dragons, a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds against the Lake County Captains, an affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Reds Elly de la Cruz played for the Dayton Dragons in 2022
This happens ALL THE TIME lol... usually ump waits & tosses them later 🤣
fun fact, the dayton dragons have one of the longest sold out streaks in the history of sports
Not much going on in Dayton Ohio
I was thinking that they had a better turnout than an average AAA game where I live
@@Deltabreeze9 so 2022 they had the highest average attendance in all of minor league baseball, their sold out streak is over 1500 games currently, could be 1600 by now. Not totally sure
Yep, and it's a great park to go watch a game.
Lowell Spinners had a really good sold out streak a couple decades ago. Unfortunately, that single A Red Sox affiliate is no more.
"...follows me on Twitter"
That's some flex my friend
Love the broadcast without the fake strike zone frame! Should be in mlb broadcasts too. Perception of umpires will change instantly
The ump had that one pitch as a ball because the catcher dropped it. It's definitely something you see a lot less frequently these days but was a big thing in baseball history. Any pitch that isn't received cleanly used to be considered a ball. I only know because Bob Walk (former Pirates pitcher and color guy) talked about it several times.
Baseball guys seem to really like the word horseshit
I prefer bullshit and if I must dogshit, but horseshit must be a part of the players association
Awesome breakdown! One of your best. Keep up the good work!
All the players looking at the ump was hilarious while he was talking to the pitcher. It was like a death stare.
Hey Blue... if you're reading this... your calls weren't all that bad. That catcher needs a lesson in what to frame
The edits are on point, loved it!
Is he coming
Catcher nods
😂😂😂😂
Dragon's unis are solid
It looks like at 2:48 the guy turns around to laugh lol
The umpire's calls and his handle on the situation was better than most MLB umpires
i just might like to watch baseball now . 60yrs and i never got it. you are what baseball needs.
The breakdown of #23's reaction was my favorite part of the video lol
And of course, great lip reading throughout as always
Great MiLB stadium!
oh my god XD the way they all look, and then the coach acts like he had no idea. just like kids getting in trouble at school. the lead troublemaker will have his friends looking outfor the teacher for him. and then when he gets caught he acts all innocent and confused like he didn't orchestrate the whole thing.
That is some grade A prime quality lawyer ball right there
Thank you jomboy that’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen
I think Jomboy has done a breakdown like this on a Blue Jays game before, but when the pitching coach was talking smack, the umpire threw him out and then the coach turned around and started yelling right in his face. This tactic is hilarious XD
I’m from Dayton. Dragons games are awesome! Love seeing them in the breakdown
Thank you for this breakdown. I was at this game and we were so confused what the ejection was for in the stands.
this gave me a good chuckle. love this!
I'm beginning to think the term horseshit was invented in the late 1800's when baseball started getting popular. Some team was probably playing in a field somewhere and one of the outfielders stepped in a big pile of horseshit and said out loud " Ahh That's Horseshit".
Baseball players/coaches are petty af 😅 No wonder the umpires are constantly acting like Dads pissed off at their kids
right or wrong- some umps wont give you the called strike if the catcher drops it. I've had umps admit this to me.
Umps need to be removed form the game. I've had many fanbases admit this to me.
Looks like he dotted that outside corner but the catcher needs to catch it especially pro baseball. Middle middle, different story.
I wouldn't either. As an umpire, I've even told a catcher, "If you caught it, I'd probably have called it a strike."
Well yea, sorry excuse for a catcher that can't catch a clean strike.
Wow that’s ridiculously incompetent. Lol. Youd think a professional ump would know the two are unrelated.
This the CONTENT WE NEED!
Good breakdown. Baseball is embarrassing, all the coaches should be embarrassed, and I am embarrassed for having seen these grown ass adults acting this way.
This channel is hilarious
1:22 the catcher trying too hard to frame the pitch backfired. He rushed to frame and dropped the ball which made it look even more low/outside than it would have if he just caught it.
Reminds me of July of last year when Pete Walker (pitching coach, Toronto) got run during a mound visit during Manoah's big return. Malachi Moore was horse doody that day.
Lot of umpires I played games with in prior years would never call a pitch a strike if the catcher doesn't hold onto the ball, even if right down the shoot. Certainly not agreeing with that strategy especially as a pitcher but it was reality for lot of games growing up, even up to high school or even collegiate level.
Jomboy for president
This is some of the best comedy around
LMAO - one of the best breakdowns in past few weeks! In the running for Breakdown of the Year (BOTY). IS there a BOTY? THERE SHOULD BE! You could send a goofy prize trophy to those involved! DO IT!
The game behind the game. Love it!
that’s a tough ejection by the letter of the law, but you also can’t blame that ump for seeing through his shit
its not his job to see through anything, his ego is no concern to the rules.
Letter of the law vs spirit of the law. The ump chose spirit, I say fair play to him
@@JoeShmo4 if you have something to say to someone, say it to their face. I'm not saying the ump doesn't deserve it, but if you try to not get ejected but get called out on it, then don't be surprised.
@ninjalectualx arguing balls and strikes is automatic ejection to. Letter of the law warrants an ejection as well. However, most of the time, Umps let it slide if you keep it quick or try not to show them up.
@@MitchellEdelman yeah, I said ‘tough’ and not ‘unfair’ for a reason. There’s totally an interpretation of the rules which makes this call justified.
Never seen this “strategy” ever not end in a legit ejection.
catcher is doing WAY too much
Haven't finished yet, but the first couple batters look like blue nailed it. The only one I thought maybe was in was the same one Jomboy mentions. But as a former catcher, you drop a pitch like that one, and sometimes it's going to make it seem even worse to the ump. Looks like they were called pretty well 👍🏻
Votto dominated the league when he played for them as far as I remember. I was just a kid
Oh my goodness the Gem City! Represent!
When people think they're slick and get caught, they look stupid. Pitching coach got ehat he deserved. I get defending your guy, but also, do your job and coach him.
Too much bullshit and not enough playing the actual game.
Catcher even jerked his glove on the strike. And dropped it.
The pitcher needs to throw actual strikes and not pout so much if he wants more calls.
Excellent work
All in all the ump made good calls. This was a case of a team being babies
Whoa...I didn't expect Garman to look like he does once he turned around.
Hilarious... Love this breakdown 😂
I'm siding with the umpire on this one
That player on the left should be an actor when his playing days are done. Those reactions were incredible 😂 so glad Jimmy pointed those out
The Platonic ideal of a Jomboy breakdown
The other ump that walked up was trying so hard to not show how he thought it was funny
This video was made even better by the gambling sponsorship
This is classic - I love that coach now
Players reactions throughout this video were gold
Tbh I’m not that mad at that ejection 😂
I am not a regular baseball fan. Been enjoyin some jomboy. Then it hit me today, why this is all so odd to me.
One thing I really REALLY love about football and soccer is when the coaches rush the field to yell at the ref, a lot like how my niece will run and yell at my nephew when he isnt sharing his toys. I really really enjoy watching how society found a role for the otherwise emotionally unstable men of society. Nothing like the spectacle that is sports of one adult man-child being a pedantic or otherwise embodying the emotional maturity of a middle school girl.
If we didnt have these man baby's cry yelling in an umpires face, easily killing five to ten minutes of air time in an already long game, then we might actually notice that baseball has the heftiest athletes of all professional sports.
Is baseball the WWE of sportsball? All fake and just an emotional charge for bored adults around america?
Dayton Dragons represent! That’s my hometown team.
Tried to push and bully the ump into expanding zone. Didn’t work.
Reminds me of that old school video in black and white that tells managers not to curse and only use made words in place of expletives and say “if I was blue I would never make that call bc I’d be dumber than dirt but I’m not dumber than dirt”. 😂 so petty.
Though I hate the show when a manager goes out with the intent of getting tossed, I might hate this more, this passive aggressive technique by the pitching coach is spineless. He knew what he was doing, the entire team did it’s clear by their faces. This is high school lunchroom antics.
9.0 on the baseball pettiness meter
That was magical!
The Manager following up with the Ump forces the Ump to repeat what he'd heard, making sure that the Ump got the message about his crappy calls. 👍
Please don't encourage passive aggressive behavior. If you have something to say to somebody than say it to their face
That would be a good idea, if you didn’t get ejected for saying it to their face
@@ronpayne4505 and dude got ejected for saying it not to his face. The real good idea is to not leave your spot as a coach to protest balls or strikes.
I blame the catcher doing way too much to try and frame. The one pitch that was a strike he dropped
Collier's reaction at 3:45 was priceless when coach cooked the ump 🤣
smart Ump. he knew what was up
If a new fan watched enough baseball, they would probably begin to think that disliking the umpire is against the rules…
They can dislike all they want as long as they keep their mouths shut
@@ninjalectualxim over umpires bring in the bots
New fans? Of baseball? The fixed 'sport' that's all about emotions and temper tantrums?
@@kait2972 Why are you here? Don't you have something else to do lol
@@kait2972 are you okay?
I know many umpires who will not give the strike if the ball is not caught clean.
"No, no, I do a thing with my pitcher where I tell him the opposite of what I really feel!"
If I was a minor league umpire I'd get thrown out every single game and make a show of it!!!
Hometown team mentioned!!
Been to a few Dayton Dragons games. Nice stadium.
