yes totally
No, You play drums
You don’t play *drums*
you play *DRUMS*
Hey, Eric... how about expanding this and show Johnny Carson! And I can’t remember if you showed Karen Carpenter but you definitely should. And I saw one with Fred Astaire but he didn’t do. solo.
You know what they say about practice! Just keep hitting those drums, instead of the drums, and you can play the drums before you know it!
I didn’t even know they had a drum battle lmao
I think they also had another one before this one lol. I couldn't find the clip tho
Sdj wat u doing here lol I'll battle u bro
@@Swaylex Haha
ill bet jb walked in and demanded a battle and everyone looked around at each other and meekly replied "ok..."
John Bonham was in fact right handed. Apparently, Bonham triplets came about because he heard a double bass fill on a record, but didn’t know how to play it. So, he emulated it by using toms instead.
He didn't play double bass because he didn't need to with that moster single foot speed he had. Like Randy Rhodes I like to imagine how big he would have been if he didn't get taken away so early.
@@michaelberresford4291 yeah exactly
so in essence, eric is just bad
@@dineshjanapati6511 nooooo lol I can play those triplets left hand lead but I have a stroke when I try to with my right. Same for him but opposite
@Korben Dallas nah mate there’s a picture of the three signing at a motel and bonham is using his right hand
The biggest difference between Justin and Questlove was the nuance. Justin just had loud, loud, and more loud. Questlove has accents and ghost notes and feel.
Justin hitting everything SO hard lol
@@carolinehaf21 yeah, he probably never learned anything but classic rock and just wanted to play cool metal fills. Which is fine, we all been there. Hehe
@@viktor2915 True hehe. Those poor sticks though lol
To be fair Justin Bieber main occupation isn't drums so for someone who probably barely plays drums, i find his skills admirable
@@frenchlad9441 Exactly, he's mediocre (or even bad) by the standards of a professional drummer but he's great by the standards of someone who just happened to pick up a bit of drumming at some point in order to round out their toolbox as a musician. It makes sense that his dynamics would suffer as a result since quality dynamic control and nuance comes from looooooooooots of practice, which by definition isn't something that a casual player would have (since if they did they would cease to be a casual player).
Lol I like how when your showing the comments at 0:22 saying you got completely reamed out by them, there’s just mine saying good morning, and other random ass comments.
A few years ago I remember seeing a. Video that says that Justin does the exact same stuff when he plays drums. This guy showed many different clips showing Justin doing the triplets and quick fills.Shows meet and greets, challenges like this one, he does the same stuff
That's not surprising though. He's not a drummer. He just needs to learn the basics and one or two flashy tricks to pull out to wow people
@@pie4breakfast_drums he actually learned the drums when he was 5 so no he didnt have to learn a few things to “wow people”
@@lovekittys100 "learning the drums" is not something that you just do. I "learned the piano" when I was 6 but I wouldn't call myself a piano player. I picked up some basic skills and I can pull out some intermediate songs if I put some effort Into it, but I wouldn't call myself a pianist at all. I'm a drummer because I've spent a lot of time and am competent on the instrument. Bieber is as much a drummer as I am a pianist. And there's nothing wrong with that.
@@pie4breakfast_drums No - because he plays drums all the time, and performs drum solos at his concerts. He's been drumming consistently for 20 years, and calls himself a drummer.
I think the comparison you're making is that neither of you have improved at the instrument much over the time, but you haven't kept at it for 20 years the way he has.
Or, maybe I'm wrong, maybe you have been playing piano for the last 20 years, and you perform piano pieces, unaccompanied, to impress people, but don't consider yourself a pianist...who knows.
If it’s not in the pocket you can’t win. It’s all about keeping time. I worked as a drummer for 30 + years. Most in a tuxedo. Can’t read a note of music but I can just feel timing. I have eaten more stuffed chicken dinners than just about anyone you’ll ever meet. Because I was in a house band at a large function place. And they alway fed the band and charged the family so if there was a choice between stake and the chicken the chicken was cheaper and the band didn’t get to choose. Friday night dinner music in the restaurant. Saturday two weddings Sunday one wedding. I’m 72 years old so this was before DJ’s killed the General Music gigs. All above Union Scale good money. The band leader was a local TV - Radio personality. We were Union had no charts never had a rehearsal in the 17 years I played with this group. I also played drums because of my 7th grade music class teacher was trying to embarrass me by asking if I could play this claves rhythm. I could just came naturally.
Amen to that. I'd like to add, if you don't mind, that there's nothing wrong playing 4/4 loud and proud. A few of my favorite drummers may not have played advanced, out of this world stuff, but they played perfectly in the pocket. I'm speaking of Phil Rudd and Frank Beard. I can't find any performance of either one of them changing the tempo by mistake. (chris slade is pretty good as well)
Emc do a drumming wish haul!!
YES
This is a good idea.
@N.A.P Skateboarding yessir
It's so weird to see 2 popstars playing a real instrument and being good at it.
Video 1 of commenting till emc makes a cowbell vibraslap
😂😂😂
Had to check this out: so I found an Expert Village video "How to Play a Vibraslap : How to Hold & Play a Vibraslap" from 2008 😂🤣
@@RedDogMamaHD lets go
You just can't mess with the quest. Periodt
I got onto 2 EMC videos from one comment
Now we go take the number one EMC spot!
Now this is what I like to call quality entertainment
I'm a right-handle, but i play drum fills simular as bonham triplet, i can't play very smooth at my right hand first, so i many times play triplet fills used left hand first! 😱
I didn't find bonham triplets hard at all! Well that's because i'm left handed HAHAHA good stuff
I'm a right handed drummer but those triplets have always been easier left hand lead for some reason. Pretty sure I learned it that way because of Bohnam.
I preferred Bieber over Mars which had left me unimpressed. I appreciate you breaking it down like this. I think many of those that poo-poo’d Bieber was because it’s well, Bieber. And I think many were crazy for Mars well same thing. Someone had mentioned that Bieber always plays this same thing. Possible it’s all he can do...but how about Mars...maybe it’s the same for him. In the end, unless you can show me Mars has more than that, the best
I can say is they’re overall equal
EMC: Uses Big Brain to analyze every drummer's techniques, etc. 🤓
Me: I just love Drums!!! 🥁🐔🥁
Yeah I believe Questlove just threw in the towel on purpose just to be a gentleman. If these 2 were to go at it again at something like Drum Fantasy Camp, Questlove would roast Bieber.
Questlove could probably smoke all of us drummers in this comment section. When you think about it, there is a reason he plays for Jimmy Fallon
well yea no shit he threw in the towel…
When you get to the number 1 emc channel you should play we are number one with chickens
Could you analyze and cover the drum solo from the Jacob Mann big band's song - Hold music?
Questlove let his guest win,he have a good heart❣️❣️❣️
Random but where can I find the scheduling for the commandant's own field show this year? I was an AAV mechanic at lejeune from 11-15 and I remember seeing the drum corps in 12 at mcrd san Diego when I was in del mar for my mos school
I think it's another thing blocked by covid-19. I saw them last Feb 29, 2020 at MCRDSD Before everything shut down 😟
@@RedDogMamaHD while that sucks, it's understandable. I'll keep a look out.
Justin did a good job....... better than many of us expected.
I like turtles.
I also like hi hats made from gongs.
Hey, I saw u at 22 sec in...
I think you have a bit of a bias towards "I can't play this very well, so it's technically difficult." To be fair, I think we all have this bias. So, Bonham triplets aren't something I find difficult, leading with either hand. Straight eighths on the hi hat foot come as natural as breathing. (IMHO that is kindergarten level independence. Even many non-drummer musicians will tap a foot to straight quarters or eights. An elite level of left foot independence would look something like playing a consistent 2-3 son clave pattern over some odd time signature in a polymeric fashion.)
At the same time, I'm regularly floored by your tenor chops and hope that I can some day translate something like them onto the kit. I don't think you're quite comfortable enough to apply the full extent of your tenor chops in a drumkit context yourself, but if I did see someone applying them on kit I would think "this is very technically difficult and impressive," even if it might not seem so much that way to you.
To put it another way, as a tenor player who sometimes messes around on kit, I think Biebs' performance appears more difficult to you because it's further away from what you're comfortable with on the tenors. To drummers though, guys who sloppily flail around with one or two relatively well mastered licks that get repeated ad nauseum... those are a dime a dozen.
Last of all, Biebs' problem isn't tempo so much as general sloppiness. If you give a sloppy drummer a click they may have an easier time with the tempo, but they won't suddenly place all of their notes amazingly. In fact, if you had given him a click during that solo I think it's just just as likely that he would have lost it and gotten messed up than finding any improvement from it.
EMC v. David drum battle??!!!
You should take a look at drummer Nicko McBrain🤟🤟🤟.
The one guy that said “I like turtles.” 🤣
you should learn how to play the kit open handed style like bieber did. allows for much for versatility even if youre right handed; just have to get more dexterous with the left hand
Never ever change your mind after giving a score. It make you look like you guessed it or you’re not sure about your score/opinion (which it was) and letting yourself being controlled by others just to keep them happy… why??
. Always stick with your first score. It’s simple as that 🤷♂️
*drum battle yourself
Congratulations, you played yourself
I was searching for Steve Gadd rudiments… how the hell did i get here 😂
Any moderate drummer knows Questlove won by a landslide. Gotta let the guest 'win' tho
I think it's quite obvious that Questlove could have embarrassed JB, but instead "threw" the match. Even so, his control, dynamics and groove were sooo much deeper.
Video 4 of commenting until EMC makes an entire battery percussion section out of spocks and 8 inch splash cymbals
I think Bruno's solo was prerecorded. You can tell by the 1st shot on snare. It's absolutely impossible to have that meat and quality of sound with the motion he performed. It sounded actually like something from Travis Baker and the stick should literally be above the head before the shot.
Video idea:play i through j 2014 santa clara vangaurd dci show
A metronome makes it impossible to play out of time? You underestimate me!
real😭😭 whenever I play a hard guitar song I seriously make metronomes look like they don't work
Do d and k cadence plz
Good morning
You should some videos on Whiplash
Bruno mars… nice
0:26 why are u using a green screen?
You know, I think the cuing of Questlove might have been another sign that he held back. Controversy opinion: he taught Justin the Bonham Triplets, and cued him into doing them during the actual drum battle
Justin won because he was the guest on Fallon’s show. The guest always wins.
Questlove is the GOAT
For anyone else who was curious, no. 10, 7, and 6 do not add up to 69. The actual score was 23 to 22. Bruno Mars winning by one point is still accurate, though, so it doesn’t necessarily matter, but still. I take math too seriously.
the score was 68-69. this explanation is blasphemy....
@@crestongopro4740 Believe what you wish.
Sooo ... What's mind-blowing difficult? Anyone recommendations to watch?
I love you
what about dana carvey in waynes world?
day 1 of asking emc to review bensons drum solo from regular show
The triplets were smooth from your cover. Justin wasn’t that bad.
Neat
My brother was left handed n learned to play right handed as well to be more versatile.
Now there's a drumming role model- Justin Bieber.
To JB, In the words of J.K Simmons , ARE YOU RUSHING OR ARE YOU DRAGGING? 😂
I think it would be cool if you learned to play a set, I mean considering you lack of leg exp you did pretty decent with that bleed video.
If you listen to his intro without seeing the video it sounds like children are being slaughtered 0:31
Great, now I can never unhear that.
@@TheSquareOnes lol
Ahh but can he play with a band?
Finally
Incorrect.
Justin was gripping his sticks so tight
I don't even play drums.
No, really, I don't play drums in the least. But speaking as a bystander, Bruno looked way more comfortable behind a drumset--Justin just looked so stiff and like he was concentrating way too hard.
that’s just his playing style he wasn’t stiff at all
Hi im Belieber boy jsjsjsj :3
Why is it that the third time I watch this video is when I realized that 7+6+10 does not equal 69 for Bruno Mars? XD
JB isn't in quest's weight class. Heck, he's not even in his class class.
Questlove won definitely no doubt
I only care about those gong Hi-hats that were never made...
I always say I'm a drummer, I consider you a percussionist. I know they're the same, but that's how I separate the two.
Why does Bieber even need to play drums? He has a stellar Drummer from Alabama.
Every musician will play better with some level of rhythm training, drums are just the easiest way to get there
@@captainkiwi77 you mean to tell me tuba is harder than drums?
Bonham was right-handed.
Good morning 😡
Made sure the Black guy won...in case the burned down his house...Lol
An 8 just for Bonham triplets? Nah.
Cmon yall just Hate Bieber, bcoz hating of JB makes you look "Cool". JB Clearly wins here.
Bieber been Playing Drums since he was a 2 YEAR OLD KID.
Also, Bieber can Play 5 Different Instruments, while Bruno can only Play 3.
I am certainly not a fan of Justin Bieber but that was not bad at all. Keep in mind, if you do not play drums consistently you will play sloppy, be off beat and miss alot.
Where is de professional?
it is a tv show who cares who won or not
No way justin is an actual drummer
if i took every drummer in my shitty local band scene and averaged out their ability, justin beiber would be comfortably in the top 60%
Niether one of them are very good....
Why is everybody laughing with Justin Bieber, stop laughing with her hahahahahaha
Bonham triplets are overrated heh. Maybe it's just my experience, but that was a year one lesson, getting down the Bonham triplet. I feel like most trained rock drummers will have this down inside their first year, probably to the degree Bieber had them down, maybe not quite as fast, but Bieber's been playing drums for over 2 decades (crazy huh).
If you're not a kit drummer, then I can see where integrating the foot work on the hi-hat, and the triplet, would take a little bit of time, but if you've been behind a kit, solidly, for more than a year, it should be natural by that point. Some drummers even find it hard to take their hi-hat foot OUT of the equation, since they start using it to just keep time.
I also want to push back against the idea that groove is easier with a click - that's not really how it works. It's a HUGE misconception that it's EASIER to play to a click, it is not. The click is unforgiving, meaning Bruno Mars needs to put a groove over a click, where a lot of drummers might sound stiff, and without groove.
I think Bruno Mars is a pretty polished drummer, as in he's not doing anything ridiculously complicated, but what he's doing, he's doing well. Bieber is a little bit all over, you can hear him hitting the rims of the drums, he clangs a cymbal at one point, and the triplets, while fast, don't sound smooth. They should sound like a train going over train tracks, not a rock tumbler.
So I'd easily put QL as #1, with Bruno Mars a solid #2, and Bieber firmly at #3. Bieber's not a terrible drummer overall, except when you factor in him playing for decades. And he plays drums a LOT, so I'm not sure why he hasn't improved - my guess is that he's completely satisfied with his current skill level, so doesn't see the need to improve. Seriously, watch him playing drums 15 years ago and he was playing the exact same thing.
You're telling me I can beat Questlove in a drum off just by playing Bonham triplets? That seems too easy
So is that why you're playing drum set this season? To get better? Great they are letting you work on your weaknesses. Awesome when an employer gives the opportunity for advancement
For a kid, JB was good
Meow
I have came to a conclusion. I dont think he plays drumz
Idk who is good but i know Justin bieber is no 1
Kkk
Bieber is not an A-tier drummer for being able to play a little fast and noodle out basic chops lmao.
