I went to this concert when I had no idea who Isaiah Sharkey and David Ryan Harris were. I loved John for his music and I knew Pino Palladino as a bassist. As I have grown as a musician I have learned who these musicians are in their own right and I, now, realize how goddamn lucky I was to have experienced this in person. I left crying. Still stands as my all time favorite concert I have been to.
I was there. All the way from Mexico and on my way to a semester abroad in South Korea. I didn't quite understood the relevance of this song for John and myself until after thinking back about this particular performance. "When you gonna wise up boy?" Is about self-growth, self-care, and self love. And that's beautiful.
Sharkey is on an entirely different plain of existence than the rest of us when he’s onstage. What a MASSIVE talent. It also speaks to JM’s character and security as a musician in this phase of his career. He could be a complete and total diva asshole, “I’M the guitar guy!” “No one is going to upstage me at my own show!” sort of dude, and I don’t think most people would bat an eye. That seems to be a common way of thinking at certain levels of success. But no. He’s AMPED to be playing with this level of talent, and insists on yielding the stage to let them shine. Talk about “sending the elevator back down”! I know he’s a legit guy just by doing that.
I was at this event, to the right of you in the second row... This was one of the songs I was BEGGING for him to play... and he KILLED IT!!! It was 15 minutes of pure magic.
John has always been a well rounded amazing guitarist but since him linking up with the dead he’s reached a totally new melodic level mix with phrasing speed and soul what a special talent
Wow. Incredible. Thanks for filming. I like how John had to get his runs in at the end for a little self defense haha! I’m so used to him grooving that I forgot hat he can kill it still on those fast lines!

This might be the best JM song.

This is def his best band ever. Can't wait to see him Tues!
vitor3000 I think his Continuum tour band was his best but this is a close second
Paul Tiplea a3330
@@paultiplea Ehh how? J.J Johnson and david are amazing but steve and pino are next level i do miss Robby though
ChizM/tdg/Glover I just feel like that formation worked better for his full band sets with Steve and Pino playing the trio sets
The keyboard accompanied sharkey's playing beautifully.
I know it's not easy to record these in total at a show, and quite a labor of love....THIS was awesome. 🙏🏻Thank you 🙏🏻
I really enjoy how happy performing this song makes him
Two of my favorite guitar players
back to the future quote at the end, we already love it. Isiah is a genius.
Let’s talk about that DOUBLE guitar switch. John acoustic to electric & DRH electric to acoustic. Damn pro’s.
