glad Emily spoke about learning LP’s lyrics, far too much hate goes her way for looking at them. I couldn’t begin to imagine the stress of learning a 2 hour set full of classics, whilst also writing/learning a full new album. Who knows how many old songs they’ve practised and not played yet, and how many re-writes new songs have had. I’m more than happy to give her a little leeway when it comes to that.
I think people are forgetting this is a band that has existed now for more than 20 years
I actually didn't find much hate for her at all. I'm from Russia and at some forums at our part of internet most of so called "hate" are actually very gently. But most of comments i've seen is like "she is awesome". I'm also into that opinion.
For me, as a lifetime LP fan replacing Chester is not like "you are out, you are in", nah. For me Chester in this rock band is like a racing car, and you just need to find a good driver (good soul) to it. And we got a perfect soul for a Chester's car haha.
@@xyp I totally agree with your point and I’m definitely seeing less negativity as time goes on but on some of the live videos I’ll look at the comments and find people saying it’s wrong that she has to look down at the lyrics, which is crazy because artists who have been singing the same songs for years do the same. And absolutely, we’re lucky to have Emily lead us on this new chapter.
Emily had about half a year to learn the songs. Floor Jansen had to learn the Nightwish set list in 48 hours and pulled it off.
Don't underestimate these pros.
@@StuRedman I’m not underestimating anyone, was simply saying I’m okay with her if she feels having a reminder there will be helpful. She’s not the first to and definitely won’t be the last, whatever makes someone the most comfortable on stage is what they should do. I’m sure she knows every word, and honestly, slip-ups can be my favourite part of a show, everyone’s human. Just have a good time, that’s all I care about at shows.

Everybody always says that Emily's voice or her behaviour on stage reminds them of Chester, but you know what really reminds me of him? The way she sits next to Mike, stares at him like he's the second coming of Christ, and repeatedly says how he's a genius. Chester would always do that, no matter what he was asked in interviews he'd always find a way to talk about how great Mike is.

Seeing the four original members having so much fun creating music again is what they deserve, Colin is an incredibly talented addition, and I’m almost out of words for Emily now, fitted in seamlessly and thoroughly deserving of this spot. Unreal talent.

@@georgehernandez2156 out of the four, we get three on stage, and that’s good to me, I definitely miss Brad but if he believes it isn’t right for him I’m okay with that. Alex has incredible energy and seems to truly appreciate being up there. I saw them in London and came away loving all 6 that played the show.

Emily is a people watcher. So I think part of the "reverance" is her natural curiosity about what people say, how they act and interpreting underlying stuff. And I think Mike is an interesting artist who has takes on any subject you ask him, at least in interviews.
Man you can really tell that they vibe well together. There's an energy there you can't fake. I especially loved the bit where they sang together.

I still find it absolutely nuts that Emily is just sat there next to one of her childhood idols and then just so happens to have ended up being the singer for them, a band as big as Linkin Park. Like that is seriously unheard of. You can tell she's just in awe of him being so vulnerable, shy and sweet. It's awful what she has had to endure since joining yet she is putting all the haters to shame and absolutely killing it.

I had to look this up, because I swore there was a Mark Walhberg movie where his character did just that. The closest ones I found was the new lead singer for Judast Priest originally being in a JP cover band before the actual band hired him to replace Rob Halford after he passed. And the guitarist for Pulp met them when he was just a huge fanboy who produced fanzines of them.
Then there's also John Frusciante of RHCP. Apparently he was a fan of the original guitarist, and went on to become a legend.

He plays the lead singer in a Steel Dragon tribute band, and then becomes the singer for the actual band, only to find out that he's basically doing the same thing he always was but with disillusionment instead of joy.

at least there are hidden stems are accidentally heard from the FOH was interesting. the organ on the chorus sounds dark and haunting.

With The Emptiness Machine, it really was like visiting an old friend who shakes your hand and welcomes you. Then he leads you into his house and introduces you to a new person.
I have to say, I was a little skeptical at first, but immediately accepted Emily in her new position. When Heavy Is The Crown was released, I liked her as an LP singer. Since then I love to listen to her voice
I'm so glad they did this again. Was a little worried there would be no lyric explanations coming, because they said we should interpret it.

I'm happy to see Linkin Park making music again, I always hoped they would come back and they did. Emily is the best for the job and Mike has always been an excellent leader.
I haven't caught one of these Genius interviews prior to this one.... its super-cool that they're just hanging out singing the lyrics, rather than like having them read or just displayed on screen. Very cool format/concept.
Edit: And they sound SO GOOD together! They're harmonies are fantastic.

First of all, I'm so proud to be a Linkin Park fan. The more I think "I can't possibly love them more", they somehow make me love them even more. The harmony between their voices and the chemistry they have as humans is off the charts. When they sang together it felt like a concert. Also, love the meaning of the song. The first time I heard Emily on this song, my jaw just dropped until the end. It was beautiful and filled with so much passion, and energy! I couldn't understand all the lyrics at first, but I felt everything they talked about in the video to my core.

When they sing in harmony, it's just awesome, I love 💕 their chemistry, they are like siblings now.
It took me a minute to be sold on Emily cause of obvious reasons but I’ve come to really like her and I think this breakdown is kind of a reflection of how your past doesn’t define you, people change, expectations of those around you etc. but outside of that, it’s cool seeing the older band members still in it look so happy to be back out there; like they genuinely look so excited and happy to be back on stage.
It's glad to see Mike so happy. And Emily is very likeable person, they have a nice vibe together.

Emily's chemistry with Mike is where the magic lies. I mean there are lots of bands where the artists are super talented and they hated each other and yet make awesome music. LP isnt like that, their magic lies in the chemistry and friendship the band members have for all these years and Emily seem to pass that check!
