Perspective 1500 years before it was discovered. I had a copy of his book and it did sound like he was describing Perspective. Although he said circle rather than vanishing point. That probably explains why the lines in Roman paintings that you would think are parallel don't all converge on exactly the same point.
What about the performance, which means thermal comfort, etc. For that you need to design the building to keep the heat out in summer and keep the heat in the winter.
