The difference a Zoia can when used for mixing

- A few people asked me about this, so here you all go. Not really a whole lot to it, but I'm hoping to boost this up with a few other things as I make more music. Hope it's helpful to some of you! :)

cool stuff, but i feel the raw sound more
That's fair, so does my brother-in-law. Definitely has its place. Maybe I could patch it with a dry/wet control to make it more subtle. Oh the possibilities haha
lol yeah we believe you
Zoia is my All-Time favorite musical purchase. Amazing as an instrument, an FX box, a control unit, a routing device, a light show, and endless new patches to download on Patchstorage. A real box of possibility.
Seriously, it's just so good. I feel like a lot of people were talking about it when it came out, and now not so much? The discord is pretty active still at least. I love this thing!
@@RSKT_music The learning curve is kinda steep at first, especially if you are not familiar with Euro module functions, this was me. But the reward for pushing through is unbelievably worth it.
@@danielbertola7868 yeah, that was me too. I barely did anything with it the first few months I had it, because I still had a lot to learn about modular, but now I've got a fairly good grasp. As you said, definately worth pushing through!
@@RSKT_music Very nice having this correspondence. I wish you luck and happiness.
Very nice. The Zoia is magic and making things do what you want them to.
Also, you know how to make it happen! Nice stuff. That gave a lot more energy
Thanks heaps! Really loving the Zoia a lot more lately. Took me longer to get my head around it than I care to admit, but it was worth the effort.
@@RSKT_music yeah. It’s pretty cool. I even built a small multiband compressor kinda thing with it. It gets patch gnarly, but soooo cool.
@@shifteleven Nice one dude! I actually bought the Zoia cause I wanted an analogue heat, but couldn't justify the cost and the Zoia could just do a whole lot more. Figured I'd build my own heat on this thing and this is now going in a direction I think suits my workflow more. So glad I made the decision to get this instead.
with the right left aspect of the modular does this mean you can essentially take a mono signal and turn it into true stereo from within the zoia and from the outputs the signal is now in stereo, in your experience with the device?
Yeah, you can technically do that! There's lots of different ways to go about it, but you could even process the mono signal twice with different effects and get the separate outputs in a stereo signal that way. It's up to you how you handle it. Hope that helps
amazin!
Thanks!
Woah!!!! That sounds amazing! 🙌 you’re video is making reconsider an analog heat 😮
Tbh this patch was my way around buying an analogue heat! Haha
@@RSKT_music oh snap!! 🤯
Any opinions on the new Hologram Chroma Console flagship versus something like this or a Poly Beebo? In my case I'd be using it mainly with Digitakt × Poly+Duophonic Synths × Tape stuff (lofi chordy beatloops, 2-step/tek bass, early-00's junglism). Just trying to gauge my next E.O.C. & colouration processor purchase in the $400 range.
Thanks, boss!
I haven't tested the beebo or either of the holograms tbh. The beebo does looks pretty neat, but I've heard some it's not for everyone (same could be said about the zoia though). The hologram looks like it would be a lot easier to get up and running with, whereas the zoia can take a bit of time. Worth noting that Andrew Huang just released a new pedal and it's pretty phenomenal, so you might want to check that out too.
Also, I got this because I kind of wanted the Analogue Heat, but didn't want to spend the money. If you have a digitakt already, maybe it'd be worth saving up for the heat instead? Food for thought :)
@@RSKT_music obviously part of this is the G.A.S. fumed reawakening a rundown of my setup too, so I'm specifically holding off for clear thinking to kick in.
_...or some more intriguing, "oh duh"-level drops to come along._ 🙃
I also realize I'd likely be just as well-off or better utilizing my penchant for a soldering iron & hacky mods/building and should look into some semi-modular, maybe more "experiemental" DIY hardware in the form of 1 or 2 cheaper but more interesting devices. Chroma Console & Zoia are checking all the boxes, though!
@@goonfish haha nice man. If I'm being honest, I would just recommend getting the zoia anyway. It's so versatile and can be anything you need it to be really. From really complex stuff to even just using it to join two cables into one really long one. The possibilities are endless, and you'll most likely find a use for it in some way.
nice!! do you remember more or less what fx you had programmed for this?
Thanks! Just the ones mentioned in this video, compressor > vca > fuzz > tone control
@@RSKT_music thanks for your reply!! i must apologize on behalf of my short attention span, i jumped to the comments before reaching the end of your video😅wishing you my best(:
@@jo-wd8pr haha all good man, you too :)
Wow! That sounds great👍
Thanks! :)
@@RSKT_music I've been on the fence about getting a Zoia for quite a while. I just wish they'd have put at least one parameter knob on it🫤. The fun part about pedals is tweaking them. Do you know if a MIDI device can be used to control multiple parameters (Like a little Faderfox or something) or is there just the expression jack for an expression pedal?
@@Lo-fi_Hi-brow I hear ya, but at the same time, you'd be surprised what you can get away with using just one knob. You definitely CAN hook up an external MIDI controller to control various parameters, and the best part is you have complete control over how those midi channels get used! You can see examples of this on SynthDad's channel. Also worth mentioning, you can "favourite" different parameters. These all get added to a list, so you can easily tweak them without having to reselect them using the grid every time. You can also MIDI map to this. So yeah, I would highly recommend it! If I had the spare cash, I'd buy the Euroburo version as well. I love it so much!
Any chance you might share that on patchstorage?
I might! I want to work on it a little more first. A Reddit or pointed out a way better version someone else had already put up on there, but I haven't tried it out yet.
Is it? ... we are all toooooo lazy ...@@RSKT_music
@@RSKT_music i just buy a zoia after watch your video, with deluge, would you like to share this one, or teach me the key word for search this kind one on patchstorage, the website is so deep, and i'm not an english user, thanks a lot!
Very nice 👌
Thanks! :)
