Mix and match pieces to get the highest magic Defense. - For even further Magic Defense, you can pick up the blue bug pellets past the sorcerer NPC prior to the boss. They're consumables and there's only two of them, however. - The Crystal Sage is weak to dark damage. The Deep Battle Axe from the mimic on High Wall or Human Pine Resins from the Undead Settlement will greatly increase your damage against him. - During his second phase when he summons fakes, keep an eye out for the one casting purple spells. All the fakes will cast blue spells. - When he pulls out his rapier and swings it at you, you can parry it. Although parrying is difficult so this is a tricky strat to try. He just spams magic all over the place during the fight and, although he's not difficult for a souls boss, he makes my low SL runs a pain so tear him a new one for me.
