@@PaulWolfe1 I was borrowing a buddies electric and could do it in about 30min. I just bought my own crank and I had to learn the new machine (clamps, strategy, positioning etc). I am about 45 with the crank right now so definitely adds a little time but I can probably get it down to 25/30 after a string a couple more rackets. Just keep practicing and watch videos for little tips to save you time.
Same, it was my second time and it took me 2.5 hours. That includes everything though from cutting the strings and all that. First time was even worse. I don’t get where the time went the second time though. It didn’t feel like that long. If you would’ve asked me I would’ve said probably and hour and fifteen to 1.5 hours. How long did it take you guys to get it down to one hour and then to half an hour?

I feel like I work pretty fast and I'm not sure where the time goes, because it never feels like it's a even a minute a string (I have 16 x 19, so 35 strings). And maybe it is 30 minutes and the other 10 is removing the strings, plus there's a little time pulling out the new string from the reel and tying all the knots.
I can assure you that this video is not sped up at all, I'm the stringer in the video. My friend recorded it sitting on top of the fridge holding the camera. U can see how fast the tension moves every time, it's very slow. To the comments about the strings not being strait, have a look what I do right after the machine reaches tension. I straighten the crosses every time,
to those questioning the quality I have strung 7 times at grand slam tournaments, and countless other professional events. Can I do a better job sure can but this was just about speed and the quality is better than 99 percent of stringers anyways even at this speed.
+ampecsu I have a drop weight and I average about 43 minutes per racquet. I would get faster If I strung more but I only break my strings (polyester) every few weeks or so and I only string few a couple of other people who break their strings even less than I do. I bet I could get down to about 37 minutes if I was stringing every day. You can only be so fast on a drop weight, though; not like this multi-thousand dollar machine!
I noticed when he finishes weaving a cross he hangs on to the end of the string as he does the tensioning and straightening. I tried this and it was a little more awkward because I have a manual crank, but it did save time not searching for the end of the string 19/20 times. That machine is 4k. I want it! Tired of glidebars and crank.
Scott, any help on polys? I use a prince neos, wish I had your babolat but budget and transporting in car needs steered me to the rugged neos. I hear pro stringers can string stiff polys in 10 minutes on 18X20 string beds, would love to see that. I will do a racquet with nylon in 20 minutes (I pull through slower) but then the same racquet with poly takes 35. And some racquets are worse than others.
Nice job overall with a few exceptions, no setting of tension in the initial clamp, and no attempt to pull the frame slack out of the knots on the mains.
string ahead one row, it creates a larger gap height-wise to send the string through... go at an angle so there is geometrically a larger gap length-wise
The strings always need to be straightened after stringing, the pressure exerted from placing the string under tension moves both the mains and the crosses. You can see he was about to straighten them when the clip finishes, and you can see that the crosses have that trademark arc that should be corrected as you string.
This is a really impressive and neat speed demo. However if your point is getting the best result, for the mains I think it's wiser to let the string tensioned for +/- 5 seconds to remove most of the initial tension loss (hear it by plucking the string under tension : it gets sharper and sharper for the first few seconds). What I do is I let the tensioner pull while I go on and pass the next main through the grommets, and only then I lock the clamp and release tension... what do you think?
I need to work on my cross weaving. This guy is an absolute beast at weaving the cross. Thats what take me longer than 30 minutes. More practice let's go!
He's using both hands. He presses down with his top hand and up with his bottom hand while pulling the string across. He's pretty much wiggling the tips of his fingers across the racquet.
For the people that have the negative comments about this video, you are idiots. His speed is about on par for elite stringers. Granted this is a nice open pattern too :) A nice stringer helps in terms of speed too. You cant do this time with a klippermate. How is he able to complete a great string job in under 10 min? Years of practice.
Some questions. Same tension for the knot strings?? Which starting knot for crosses??? Fast weaving but no alignment for crosses?? Fast, serious doubts of speeding the video but not enough quality. Try to tension two verticals in the same side of the racquet. First one then the other and after it spin the racquet to the other side. Then the two vertical s again. And what about to get controlled the final of the string inserted in the next hole??? You'll save time when looking for it.
very good stringer for sure, possibly for speed did not use the Diablo on many pulls, did not straighten the strings at the end, did not pull the Main strings in an even way Left Right. The machine is a Babolat one.very good but even so the Swivel Clamps tilt back on each pull, mostly on cross strings, not much can be done about that, even the best machines tilt a bit, possibly on the next pull the tilt come back a bit.The strings used must have been very easy and comfortable for stringing, any Polyester will take longer let alone Luxilon 4G S, 1.41mm, a nightmare to thread the crosses.I Gefen, London
Couple of little tweaks to your technique and you could go even quicker. But, why use the diablo for just the crosses? I know your using a softer string on the crosses, so it makes sense to use the diablo then, but I would always use it for the whole racket rather than just half. Also, why don't you bother to straighten the strings?
Credits or the speed with which you string. I'm a simple homestringer, but it seems like you are you are using a really easy string to string with, like Wilson NXT or something. How quick would you be with a much tougher string like Kirschbaum Supersmash Spiky at 25 kg for example?
I would not want him stringing my racquets. When he does mains, he completes one side of mains that leaves the other side, wrt center, unbalanced. If ever slightly, I would expect frame contortion due to tension differences.
I work at Tennis Warehouse, and can string a racquet in 14:54, but there's a guy who's been there for 2.5 years whose personal best is 7:23. So you string a tennis racquet dang fast, but not quite fastEST. Great job though!
Im sure the dude at tennis warehouse was stringing on a crank, using a really open string pattern, also using synthetic gut string. This guy is actually doing a QUALITY job. Not just trying to get the strings in the racquet as fast as possible.
amaroudis I use a prince neos when on the road and a babolot 5 star when home. I am much faster with the 5 star than the crank, although moving the glide bars around is the most time consuming aspect with my crank, All the kids use lux or rpm, and many on an 18x20 racquet. I have one question I would like to ask a very good stringer - I never do more than one string ahead on each side when doing the mains. The person in this video did 4 ahead. I have the same machine and wonder if the 6 point mounting makes this okay.
I go no more than 3 ahead. Going only 1 ahead is overkill. Todays racquets can take lots of stress. Also depends on where you go 4 ahead. I will have to watch this video again, but if you go 4 ahead at the center of the main strings, not as big of a deal as if you had finished the mains on 1 side 4 ahead. In terms of the crank being faster than an electronic CP, I agree that in normal circumstances the electronic CP is faster. But the crank's only limit in terms of speeds is how fast the human hand can pull it. Obviously even using a crank, you still don't want to go super fast, as this would result in a lower stringbed stiffness.
I don't know what is the porpouse of the video. If it's the speed.... Well done sir. The stringing quality OMG it's terrible. No care with the string what so ever, clamps too far from the frame. I'd rather wait for a proper stringing job than not to wait to have a job done like this. But this is only my oppinion.
+Pedro Belo Yeah, but sometimes a player sends a stick out to be restrung during a match because he/she doesn't have one at the right tension for the current conditions. In that situation, speed trumps quality; a passable string job at the right tension beats playing with the wrong tension, and seconds count.

Dude it took me an hour and 45 minutes on my first racquet and it was a Wilson Baiardo at work that I practiced with.

thats why i stopped stringing rackets. too many sweats

Most pro stringers I've seen use an Offsetting tool (blunt awl) to straighten the string after tying off the the final knot.

why do people use 4 knots instead of 2, meaning 1 string versus 2?
Depends on the type of stringing method being used. 2 part stringing will always be four knots.
