Edgy games... ah, that makes me think of The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile and Charlie Murder... This may be interesting for you: look up the metroidvania Cookie Cutter. That one's colorful, out-there, profane, creative, atmospheric and simply solid, set in a cyberpunk/sci-fi world full of mutants, soul-powered robots, an angry flying server, a Hindu demon and more. Combat's more like a 2D beat-em-up and you can obtain weapons ranging from a metal fist to an electric guitar to a chainsaw and some others. Soulstice may also be interesting. It's *not* a Soulslike. It's more in line with the likes of Darksiders, DMC, Bayonetta and such, though mainly like Darksiders in tone. (plus some Berserk influences). Got a lot to offer on the gameplay front. This one may be more interesting for those who are interested in dark fantasy than Anger Foot or Conker, but i figure it may be worth a mention.

Yes, literally no where in Portland is florida man like. I go downtown often. Portland has low violent crime rates in general and you aren't going to be unsafe any where. The worst you get is petty crime. It gets pretty annoying to hear the constant misreporting and exaggerations from people that don't live here. Not saying you're doing that.

I loved the demo and I've really been looking forward to this one. I gotta finish some videos and beat Relentless Frontier before I get it but I'm excited to play it.
I really wish this game will become available for PS5 because consoles need more of a game selection so badly. I've missed games of this nature. We need more focus on Ragdolls, amazing art design, so many Absurd things done so well to make it all satisfying and interesting. This game gets me so hyped. I hope we see more games like this! Psst, oy mate, you want more games with dynamic soundtracks? Ever heard of No Straight Roads? It's a short, boss-centric 3D beat-em-up type game centered around music. Stylish and colorful. Every boss is an artist of a different genre, has a Neutral/Base version of their theme. If the fight goes in the boss' favor it shifts more and more to EDM, but if you get the upper hand it switches to Rock. If you hold down a specific button, your player character (either Mayday the guitarist or Zuke the drummer) will play a solo in accordance with the boss theme, on their respective instrument. Since the release of the Encore Edition and the Christmas Update, there are now Christmas and Special Remix variations for every boss as well. It may bring to mind Hi-Fi Rush but that's still different. HFR has good music, may be the more refined and bigger game between the two, but is about the rhythm. NSR really is about the music, in both gameplay and story. Love No Straight Roads. Oh, and since you mention loving ragdolls and anthro/non-human character designs: How familiar are you with the Zeno Clash games? They're first-person brawlers/beat-em-ups for the source engine, where the mainline games released in 2009 and 2013 respectively. It's set in a really weird and fascinating, almost prehistoric world where there's nary a human in sight. Mainly freaks, mutations, aberrations, caricatures, medieval monsters like those from the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch and anthropomorphic prehistoric animals. All inhabitants tend to differ from one another in so many ways that there's not really any effort done to differentiate species and subspecies between Zenos. As long as they can think, act and speak, however weird their speech may be, they're a Zeno. 2023 had the release of a prequel called Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Different perspective, being of an over-the-shoulder adventure but with more refined beat-em-up gameplay. Finding and assigning different martial arts styles. And this time you play as one of the most uncanny and weird Zenos so far, named Pseudo. And he's awesome. Zeno opponents range from wretched parrot people who sound like an insecure boastful teenager with the voice of Yoda, to a yellow toad with a nose ring and a frying pan in a barrel, to a three-legged moose man with a face like it was compressed into his chest, to a fat turkey man with big orange mushrooms growing out of him. Fun thing is, it's rare for characters to really die in the series. They'll get knocked out and return in later fights, but in different team-ups. Strongly recommend it. There's loads more games that I could recommend, from The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile (high-pace bloody 2D hack-and-slash action) to Soulstice (not a soulslike-- more in the direction of Darksiders, Bayonetta and DMC) and others.
