I think the majority of modern comedians now have realised that they can get a solid 90 mins out of doing crowd work and ribbing the audience, which leaves them with only 30 mins of actual material they have to come up with.

I live 5 minutes from Diamonds and drive through the parking lot all the time with my kids. I tell them it's the biggest diamond shop in town 😂. Years later, they've figured it out.. probably because of that decorative van out front 😅
I'd be very interested to see how his humor and talent translate to a podcast or talk-show format. The trouble is, part of his charm is bantering with REGULAR people, folks who can give and take back and forth. Real celebrities would probably be too delicate and demanding for him.

I like how he just chats with the audience. I haven’t seen a full set from Matt, only clips, so I have no idea if his jokes are any good. But I find his interactions and off the cuff responses to what the crowd say to him to be very good.
The only problem I have with the audience interaction is that everyone feels like they have something interesting or funny to say. He's very quick-witted, and I applaud him for not just telling all them to shut up, or ask if they want to come on stage anf do the show themselves.
