I can't believe you forgot the part where Bender puts his own arms back on.
Please, please do more episodes of Futurama! You don't have to do the heartbreaking ones, I wouldn't ask you to put yourself through that but, just more episodes!
.....Maybe "Jurassic Bark", but that's the only tear-jerker one I'd ask for!
TVSins +1 - you are wrong about year 0!! When the Adjusted Gregorian Calendar was revisited, the years were re-adjusted so a year 0 was inserted. And 2000 is the legit start of the new millennium. The lack of a Year 0 was part of the Julian Calendar, which had so many flaws it skipped and lost years between emperors. Romans never believed in the number 0 which caused lots of mathematical errors, hence why the entire calendar had to be revisited a half dozen times since 200 A.D.
PuddHoney mmm
2:12 there was once a robot named bender b. Bending Rodriguez who initiated that attack and probably knowing that fry was in there let him live
2:16 We find out later that aliens didn't destroy New York, Bender did as he timetraveled, which is why he didn't touch the building Fry was Frozen in because it would create a paradox
Paradox correcting time-code.
You know, it's the little, insignificant bits like that, that, when you see them and realize just how perfect they are, makes you wonder just _how_ much of this story did he have planned out beforehand?
Love those episodes
@@idontlikethis980 let's say it's not a joke, how exactly is that manipulation?
But we only find out about it later so it is a sin right now because we didn't find out now. The movie or tv show has to explain the coherences not some source material it is loosely based on or a later movie or episode.
@@julioornano8427 Oh by that I'm referring to the whole thing like for example remember the dread video a lot of his points are just manipulation by editing the video
At one point when they go into the museum bender says "Museums are free on Tuesdays".
If you look up the 31st December 2999, then you'll see that it really is a Tuesday
Nice, there's a reference so few people would get.
It should’ve been a Wednesday for a Spider-Man 2 refrence
*reference
@@muffin8460
Since spiderman 2 came out a few years later, it would be a futurama reference in Spiderman 2
@@TheHimbeerjoghurt ohh
I can't believe that you didn't notice that the "decaying ruins of old New York" would mean that the cryogenic building was somehow kept at the same altitude while the Empire State Building was knocked over and built over.
Yet I've always wondered how ancient cities got stacked on top of their predecessors.
Or they just moved the pods.
Since Nibbler’s race planned to have Fry go to the future it stands to reason they protected the building while everything else around got destroyed.
Plus the whole paradox correcting time code prevented bender from destroying the cryo building fry’s in to prevent paradoxes... until bender brings his past selves to the futures proving it wasn’t paradox free
Well fry has to make it to the year 3000 otherwise he doesn’t go back in time to become his own grandfather. That’s why in the Anthology of Interest episode where he doesn’t fall into the cryo chamber it causes a universe-ending time paradox.
1:58 I am just realizing that they showed his shadow in the pilot episode this whole time.
@@battlesheep2552 and that is presumably why the brains sent him back in time to stop himself from getting frozen because as stated in the episode the the brains wanted to destroy the universe this was the episode why fry
@@battlesheep2552 He did do the nasty in the pasty.
The creators of this show just had so much continuity going on from the beginning. There is the Nibbler shadow under the desk. Also in the hall of Criminals there is the Farnsworth ancestor that was aiding the British in the time of the revolutionary war.
Marcus Hankins - 👍🇬🇧
Bite my shiny metal aff!
And it was bender that destroyed new York but left the cryogenics building in tact to prevent a paradox
Oh shit, I never knew about David Farnsworth in the Hall of Criminals! I'm going to have to rewatch that now!
nice catch , I saw it and was like wtf wow they put nibblers shadow in the pilot they new what they were doing.
1. Greatest show of ALL TIME. Fight me.
2. “Episode does not contain a Zoidberg” is the best sin of all time...
in will not fight you because you are absoluteley right
I must disagree, it's a good sin but I can't get over the fact that he missed the opportunity to say "Why not Zoidberg?"
Greatest cartoon of all time, I could agree with that.
And a series ending that was actually brilliant and I have heard NO ONE complain about. And I've asked people straight up
@@TheCumberCoIlective What? I've heard a lot of people say the ending was all sorts of shit.
(I, like you - very much loved it)
I am somewhat amazed that you show the frames with the shadow of Nibbler tipping Fry's chair into the chamber and don't address it.
That's a sin!
The consistency of this show is mindblowing
Its a review of the pilot, why should he point out a plot point for another episode
@@B0redTurtle "this episode has no zoidberg in it."
Victor Yu, because it was also in the pilot.
Sin all you want! But I sat and watched Futurama in a marathon of emotional ups and downs. I can't say I've had the same experience with shows like The Simpsons, American Dad, or Family Guy. This show actually sticks to its plot, no matter how ridiculous it gets, and that to me makes it all the more better.
Also, rip Fry's dog... Jurassic Bark still gets me every god damn time
As the saying goes, "You can recognize a _Futurama_ fan by the fact that "Walkin' on Sunshine" is a sad, tragic song."
Why did you have to mention Seymour? 😭😭😭
At least as a result of the time travel event, which I believe was canonical, Seymour lived a long, happy life with Fry after he went back, before he became Lars.
Jurassic bark... Also.. What's that you got there, Hooks? Get outta here ya hookers!
This show and king of the hill are masterpieces. Not a single bad episode in either.
One of the best things about this show is the fact that there's not only an insane attention to detail in regards to the nods and hints to things in the future and past, as well as the actual scientific knowledge and facts that go into the show. It may be a seemingly dumb comedy cartoon, but it is a lot smart than you may think.
"Wait... is this where Disenchantment comes from?"
Headcanon accepted!
DIdn't realized until now, that I want them in the same universe.
@@The_Natsu. There is a one frame shot of the Forward Only Time Machine from "The Late Philip J. Fry" with Fry, Professor Farnsworth, and Bender in it visible in the _Disenchantment_ episode "Dreamland Falls." Whether it is just an Easter egg or foreshadowing is yet to be known…
@@scaper8 I never noticed that - well spotted! I doubt it's foreshadowing (I don't think the plots will ever really connect), but I'll happily accept it as evidence they're in the same universe.
Never noticed that either.
Agreed
Biggest (unexplained) *Sin* in this episode is when: Bender bended the bars apart and his arms fell off. But he manage to pick them up to reattached them. Which Fry responded "How he did that"
That was in "I second that emotion". Not this episode.
Krešimir Božić
No, it’s in this one.
www.dailymotion.com/video/x6u3urg
That deserved a "Fry would be excellent at TV Sins"
His arms have separate brain like chips where they can move at their own accord... via bluetooth
What else do you think the antenna's for? Robot reproduction? Takeover signal from the home factory to takeover Earth? Be serious.
On the commentary for this episode, John DiMaggio asked if there was a secret why that cryogenic building wasn't destroyed. Matt Groenig and David X. Cohen didn't have an answer at that time. Turns out it was Bender time travelling and he didn't kill Fry to avoid a time paradox. Also I will completely accept the headcanon that that 2nd medieval period was Disenchantment. The elves and other magical creatures are probably aliens and/or mutants. Bean's stepmom was definitely mutant.
Given that the forward only time machine was an easter egg in one of the Disenchantment episodes kinda makes this theory even more plausible.
"Episode does not contain a Zoidberg"
I like you
That's two sins
Just as I was thinking you guys should sin episode 2 so we can get some Zoidberg loving...
"Episode does not contain Zoidberg". The love came early apparently.
Need a sin? Why not Zoidberg?
Finally! A show I have actually seen and still care about! Thanks 💖🤓
I'm just glad he actually doing something OTHER than Game of Thrones, was starting to think we were going to get one for EVERY episode.
1:57 oh my god, Nibbler was actually there during the pilot episode... I can't believe he was there so long before that episode where he went back in time
1:58 Needs a sin removal for THAT shadow.
This show is amazing and there’s nothing wrong with it
+ it had one of the greatest finales of all time
@@HAL-vm3wn which finale do you mean(while)? ;)
@@HAL-vm3wn It had three of the greatest finales of all time.

I'm still amazed that guy voiced at least five characters and at one point they were all on one screen
What guy and which characters?
Azrul Tarmizi Billy West. He’s Fry, the Professor, Zoidberg, and Zapp Branigan, plus some other background voices.
@@300DBenz Also Nixon
@@300DBenz To be fair, there's quite a few "that guys," with John DiMaggio, Maurice Lamarche, Phil Lamarr, and David Herman doing quite a number of voices on the show.
@@300DBenz Interesting fact, Zapp was originally suppose to be voiced by Phil Hartman, but he was murdered shortly before the voice taping. That's why Zapp's character is a cross between a spoof of Phil Hartman and William Shatner.
"Bag of Holding" is a proper noun, and as such should be capitalized. *Ding!*
I've always compared Bender's insides to the magic bag of Felix the Cat v
The fact that Nibbler's shadow is shown in the pilot when Nibbler wasn't even introduced until episode four and the shadow wasn't explained until season 4 is amazing long term planning especially for a cartoon
Nibblers's shadow was always in the episode, it wasn't retconed in like some on here believe. This was confirmed by David X Cohen, executive producer/writer/partner to Matt Groening, and by people on Reddit with tapes of the original airing.
This should be a sin off on this video and am disappointed.
I never had as many questions about the heads in jars as I do now...and I've watched this show for over a decade!

4:52 Grover Cleveland served as both the 22nd and the 24th President, so this makes perfect logical sense.
Obviously they cloned his head so they could have two... lol
They get the joke about Cleveland serving twice non-consecutively. That's why they point out its brilliance. The sin is just for having 2 heads.
Funny. Sin the sinners
out of 100 episodes or so, this Episode is the best episode ever of futurama , the entire season one is a gem
currently going through the whole series and the movies .....and i love it
@Stand up to the Comment Section one of the classics for sure
Wait 'til you get to the end and it Möbius strips right back to the beginning... Aren't we about due for some channel to pick it up for new episodes again?
The genius of Futurama, Nibbler's shadow is seen in the first episode.
"Does not contain a Zoidberg"
Zoidberg: "Aww."
It would have been funny if he removed a sin for that
yo, the episode about the dog had me frikkin weeping. this show has way the hell too much heart for a cartoon and I love it because of that. D:
If i were to set up a wall with a thumbnail of every single episode of futurama and told you to throw a dart at it, 90% of the times you threw that dart you would land on a good episode. Never got worse, never got better it just stayed great, which makes it amazing for re watching after a few years
Another missed sin is the fact that them running from Nixon and the NNYPD is never actually resolved.
But they have jobs and they can prove it with their "new" career chips.
SRussellN
Still, I’d imagine their altercation with Nixon and the police would have some consequence.
Tricky Dick would probably try to press charges for assault.
What nothing about Nibbler
How is this comment older than the video?
@@justinjohnson6047 UA-cam, go drunk, you're home!
1:58 they planned for nibbler from the pilot, I remember finding this out on my own n being shocked as hell.
This is one of those sins videos where you can tell the sins staff genuinely loves the show and are just having fun with it
A missed sin is the fact that Bender’s so disturbed at the idea of making suicide booths, even though later he is established as having always been sociopathic and destructive. His motto is literally “Kill all humans!”
There's a running theory that Bender is only like that because of the electric shock he receives in this episode. Before that, he was just a regular bending unit and a slave to his programming.
Of course, this doesn't explain Flexo.
Squall Loire
The theory doesn’t work because Bender’s past behavior (“Mars University”) has been shown to be just as misanthropic and destructive as in later seasons.
@@BlackCover95 To be fair the only evidence we have of that is a single third-hand anecdote, but I admit it's not a perfect theory anyway.
What I think actually happened is that Bender was originally conceived to have been affected by the electricity in that way, but this was changed when the character's immediate popularity was seen. Remember that while still technically Season 1, the last four episodes (incl. Mars University) weren't finished up and aired until 6 months later (the minimum amount of time Groening has said it takes to produce an episode, with 3-4 being worked on at any one time).
Also time zones are for the whole "sun doesn't hit the entire planet at one time" thing.
I think he meant that midnight doesn't have to be 12pm for everyone. There's no reason 12am or even 3:33pm couldn't be midnight elsewhere on the planet.
I think this show deserves far more sins off for the day 1 consistency of the timeline (ie: nibbler under the desk, the previous crews career chips in an envelope marked "space bee stomach contents")
How dare you come after Futurama!! 🙃
Also, should have taken a sin off for Nibbler's shadow! That doesn't pay off for a while!
1:38
Dude, it's called UTC and it's several decades old already. "Time zones" are a mere formality at this point.
This is great let’s see more Futurama when you get a chance
Almost every "mystery" or "plot hole" was addressed later in the series. Well maybe not all of them (the heads in jars questions) but most of them. The buildings being destroyed, Fry getting frozen, Leela's backstory, what happens to bodies in suicide booths, and so on. You could claim that this is the writers attempting to retroactively correct their oversights, but some details - such as Nibbler's shadow - show that they were all intentional, the explanation that would be revealed later on was already known to the writers. Truly an act of genius. It seems that this TV Sins episode wasn't acknowledging such, only looking at what is shown in this episode as it stood on it's own, which is a bit short-sighted.
Futurama was my childhood i dont understand why my parents let me watch it at age 6 but they did and i loved it
Thank you TV Sins. I would take a sin off for this episode buuuut you made me wait 9 months since the Simpson's episode. So you know what that means. Ding ding.
Futurama is one of the best shows ever created change my mind
Wouldn't dream of trying to! 😄
I agree!!
You would have to have a mind first. Since all you do is spout lame internet memes show you cannot think for your self.
Ventura bros?
@@JohnDoe-vn1we whoa, dude, why the hate? jealous he posted that before you could, or something? calm down
Now it’s time for “Simpsons roasting on an open fire” and the movie!
You can pick all the nits you like but this episode would make a good Masterclass in writing a sitcom pilot.
This was a good one :) I was waiting for it for so long haha
1:20 Isn't Jeremy starting off kinda greedy? Rest of this show did a pretty good job establishing that Fry is dumb as hell. It makes sense that he wouldn't know the correct definition of millennium. I mean, he's a Pizza delivery boy IN NEW YORK CITY IN 1999. Does that sound like someone who graduated in college, or didn't spent the whole school year getting high? I mean, in one episode, Fry says he had a deadly Cola addiction that ended in 3 heart attacks.
I love sinning Cinemasins. Also, I love showing people what a great fan of Futurama I used to be
It gets worse. Fry was born on 74 while the millennial generation didn’t start until 81
The small throwaway lines like at 2:37 is my favourite thing about Cinema Sins and always get me to laugh xD
01:58 Nibbler's shadow is there! They had an incredible attention to detail

Slight correction: what you’re referring to is _Coordinated_ Universal Time. We don’t have it because if we made calls from, say Sydney to Toronto, you’d have to convert it anyway. We *should,* however, get rid of Daylight Savings Time.

3:48 It is shown in the second movie (The Beast with a Billion Backs) that the suicide booths actually do have trap doors with slides, but then they just end up in the League of Robots HQ. Does that mean that the league have a side job where they dump human carcasses in trenches or fires or something? Considering their job is hating and destroying humans, that would make sense.
Please do Everything Wrong With Disenchantment.
Posted one minute ago?! Last time i was this early, the wife wouldn't talk to me for a week!
Is that why your wife never talks to you?
I just re-watched this episode today because it's new years eve and this episode is about new years eve and day. I thought there were quite a few good laughs and it was a nice story of someone (Fry and to a certain extent Leela and Bender) finding out where they belonged. That's enough for me.
This is the best adult cartoon and possibly the best cartoon ever. And I watched it since I was like 7 and I’m 23 now lol
Bag of holding. Jeremy made a D&D reference.
I had to check it twice lol

"Worship-worthy monolith." They preserved it. ;-)
I love this show truly one of the best of all time also no sin for bender putting his own arms back on and Fry calling him outing🤣
I would have removed at least two more sins for the following:
-1 = Nibbler's Shadow when Fry gets frozen, which is mindblowing consistency with a plot from an episode WAY down the road. You have to wonder if this was an error they decided to make a plot point around or if they had planned it since day one.
-1 = The aliens destroying New York are actually Bender and crew travelling through time in one of the later episodes (like, reboot later). So, understandably, if you aren't familiar with that, it can be forgiven. But this is just another example of the creative team either thinking WAY ahead from the shows inception, or being smart enough to know what unanswered weirdness to bother latching onto for later episodes. Either way, it's still impressive.
NO SIN OFF for Nibbler's shadow being present showing amazing foresight in storytelling from the writers??? FOR SHAME JEREMY FOR SHAME!
The shadow wasn't present when the pilot aired. It was edited in for the DVD release.

6:40 Legitimately funny, but irrelevant. Fry would definitely fall into the age-range of a Gen X-er.

Tv sins it is. Better choice
I know you've already done The Simpsons Pilot but you should also do the first Treehouse of Horror, pretty please with a cherry on top
Here's a sin you missed: when Fry and Bender met in the suicide booth, why would Bender still need the coin he put in and pulled out if he was planning on killing himself?
Futurama reruns are better than 90% of new content
If you're doing cartoons then Big Mouth should be next on your list. The sin count will be Monstrous.
There needs to be a "Discount Will Arnett" sin for the Hormone Monster's voicework.
American dad next?

There isnt enough time in the universe to describe that train wreck lol
@cynthia G lol ok I'll admit maybe 1 or 2 jokes outa 10 will get a laugh out of me. I feel I would like it alot more if it didn't try so hard, and Rick could say more then 3 words without trying to puke on himself, it's irritating. The show has potential but as it is now it's trying to be clever like Futurama but with the toilet humor of a 5 year old. Just my opinion mind you, there's plenty I watch and people tell me it's stupid cus they don't get it.
Rick and Morty was funny for a few episodes, then it just got boring and annoying. And yes, it really does try WAY too hard and just comes off as, ironically, up it's own ass.
leela is human...a mutated one, but still human

2:20 The “time passing” sequence is a reference to The Time Machine so they semi-consciously applied that logic (the time machine is “out of reach” of normal time) here, creating a semi-goof.
