Polyphemus: “No bloodshed in here today” as it cuts to the sheep they already killed is such a good choice on the artist’s part. Mircsy also just killed it with the cyclops design. Such a unique take on a monster that usually just gets depicted as a very large dude with one eye. Ody really tried to give the guy wine after coming into his home and killing his friend. Like bro. Can definitely understand Poly’s reaction on that one. Survive: “It’s just one life to take” and showing the baby Ody killed before he blinks and it’s Poly. God! Mircsy really ate with these two animatics. Such good shot composition! Remember Them: And thus, the downfall of hubris. Oh, Ody. You were so close. Though I admit, seeing the payoff for the “my name is Nobody” bit was really great in the moment. Even if I still end up feeling a little bad for Polyphemus. My Goodbye: Teagan Earley (voice of Athena) truly is so talented. That goes for all the cast really but I have to say Teagan is in my top three for this musical. Every time she sings I get super excited. Oh, My Goodbye… I understand where both of them are coming from to some extent. Athena is right, Ody was incredibly reckless with some of his choices made in this saga. HOWEVER! Athena came at this all wrong. The man is grieving the loss of his men and she just comes in like “wow bro, you really messed that up and let your emotions lead.” So of course Ody gets defensive and fires back at her which only drives the wedge deeper. Hubris and poor communication. Truly the downfall of so much. Buckle up friend you’re in for a ride.
Oof, welcome to the Epic fandom, Polites' death is a canon event that we all have to go through. Just about everyone gets attached to him, and his loss hits hard. and you absolutely got the symbolism of positivity and peace being destroyed. But did you notice - Odysseus chose to spare the cyclops after the death of Polites. Because he's trying to honor what Polites would have wanted: mercy, peace, open arms. So the positivity and peace isn't entirely destroyed - Odysseus is trying his best to keep Polites' influence close to his heart. (If you want to hurt even more - look up "Your Light", it's a song cut from the final musical that takes place before the Cyclops Saga and is just focused on Polites and Odysseus, it's about their friendship and history, it's really sweet and beautiful.)
My Ocean Saga recommendations are: Ximena Natzel for Storm Crashite for Luck Runs Out Gigi for Keep Your Friends Close Neal Illustrator for Ruthlessness I feel like these fit the story best and they generally seem to be the most popular. But that’s just my opinion. Great reaction btw!
I'M SO WITH YOU ON NEAL FOR RUTHLESSNESS ... although I wanna say mircsy's keep your friends close is a bit better because it shows what actually happens better (SPOILER BEGINNING!!) like for example odysseus climbing up to the island and the fact that they tie him down (SPOILER END!!) Same reason why i would recommend bambi for storm (bc the ending is clearer ... SPOILER BEGINNING in ximena's they kinda just shoot the harpoons without the ropes being tied to anything which confused me a lot when i first watched it SPOILER END) Although the two full storm animatics are pretty on par imo in terms of how good they are :)
It tells you how great of a writer Jorge is when you can get attached to a character so quickly. Even with in Just A Man we get attached to both Odysseus and the Infant just as quick.
I've seen my share of Epic reacts but your reaction to Polites' death is by far the most raw and gut wrenching. I hope you got some much deserved self-care and enjoy the rest of the journey!

Yea I distincly remember the cyclops part of the story when he said his name was nobody and Odysseus blinded him. Idk why me thinking yelling at the animatic was going to make it go differently lol. I understand though now why people yell at sports games lol.
Indeed, at the very least, he should have kept his damn mouth shut, then Polyphemus would have had a much harder time having anyone go after Odysseus. Sparing Polyphemus wasn't necessarily where he screwed up, he could have gotten away with even that if he had just let him try to tell on "Nobody."
Okey, next is Ocean saga which includes: storm, luck runs out, keep your friends close and ruthlessness. Also I am so sorry if it was traumatic for you bad it's Greek mythology and it's something that every single Epic fan has to go through, the cyclops saga is when you truly know what is to be an Epic fan. Also for Odysseus's stupidity, just like he was feeling things and overflown with emotions which why he did what he did.
OMG it broke my heart, but the masterful story telling through the songs and animatics makes you fall in love with Polites so quickly. I am in awe at how well this is done so far.

19:10 Not only someone who is so smart be so stupid. But also do it right after the Goddess of Wisdom tells him to kill him, and even goes "don't!" when she realizes what he's about to do. About the cyclops situation, there *is no bad guy here, or any "evil".* It's a very morally gray situation where both sides are understandable, which is pretty common in this musical and something that I love very much. I love mircsy's animatics very much, the only complaint I have about the Polyphemus/survive duo is that they went somewhat overboard with the "evil" framing of Odysseus and his men. They aren't evil, they are hungry and tired and were sent here without warning that the food they were promised belonged to anyone. While the cyclops' situation is sympathetic-it sucks that one of his pets got killed even without him doing anything to provoke it-Odysseus and his men couldn't have known that the sheep had an owner so they had no ill intent either. Odysseus resorted to deceiving him so as to get out of there alive but the cyclops kind of has the mentality of a big child who is driven only by emotions and can't really be reasoned with. Either way, resorting to violence made it worse on both ends. I AM SORRY BUT THE WAY THAT YOU AND ODYSSEUS HAD THE EXACT SAME REACTION TO POLITES' DEATH IS INCREDIBLE 😭😂 ISTG you both had the same facial expression for a while there 😭😭 That's what one calls the beginning of trauma (nah jk that was back when he had to drop the baby but yk) His death definitely has consequences that go far beyond Odysseus losing one of his closest friends. You make a lot of very good points. I do want to point out that I did say "how can someone so smart be so stupid" after Odysseus revealed his name, not after sparing the cyclops.
