- American tube amp-like tones in 2 voicings: black face or tweed.
The full eq works in tandem with the CRANK control: not only lets you set the tone you want, but if you set CRANK high enough, it shapes the saturation type. This is exactly how a real cranked tube amp behaves, because the tone controls have also an influence on the power amp section saturation.
Switch to BLKFACE mode, for a big rich clean, but always breakup-ready if you really dig into the strings with big dynamics, or to TWEED mode, to have a more mid-focused sound, crunch-easy, with saturation always at hand, as soon as you play harder.
Old or New Tubes? When you put a new tube set in you tube amp, you get more power and volume, and more presence and clarity. But there are also iconic sounds that were obtained with tubes that weren’t brand new, and they produce a more mellow and rounded sound, and are more saturation-prone. With this control you can choose the tube age, and you’ll get the best of both worlds.

I don't know what's going on, but in the last couple of years we've seen the greatest new pedals coming from southern Europe. In particular Italy, Greece and Croatia. Top stuff!
Can you name a few in particular? I’d like to check them out!
@@Tiago_007 : To name just a few:
DryBell - They made a couple of high quality pedals, but I love their Unit 67 in particular (Croatia).
Cornerstone - Again, some great pedals, but the one that caught the attention by many is the Gladio (Italy).
Jam Pedals - basically everything they do is great (Greece).
Crazy Tube Circuits - again, a whole line of great pedals (Greece).
I forgot a whole bunch here, but this is a nice start. 😬
@@mariodriessen9740 Awesome! Thank you! I’ll check them out!
@@Tiago_007 ; You’re welcome. 😊
@@mariodriessen9740 you can add espressofx and formula b from Italy
I love that RJs gear demos get down to business right away.
Always great playing RJ!
I think this is a great idea for a pedal. The two amps, the old/new tubes, etc. but it doesn't grab me as far as the sound. It doesn't sound bad at all, it sounds really good but just not very unique. Sounds like a lot of other pedals. Sounds kinda Marshally to me, not so Fenderish.
I almost don't give a shit about the gears. R.J brought me here! 🔥🔥
What a killer player !!!
Awesome playing and tone.
RJ, sweet playing as always...
Namaste from Nepal! 🙏🙏😊😊
You always have good tones. But this pedal sounds great.
Great vibe R.J!
Just bought one of these and a RJ shirt. Great demos
Thank you Brandon!
Now we have a warning when the "knob twisting" begins. RJ.. I didn't think this was one of THOSE channels! lol. Kidding aside.. great stuff as always!
I ordered one of these from Italy. Should be here in a couple of days. I hope it works well through my Custom Deluxe Reverb.
Sick take!! 🥝
Thx ! I didn't know this Italian brand! It's killer!!
Thank you a lot! 😃🎸🎸🎸
Let's be honest, R.J.R. would get a great tone out of a piece of string stretched across a plank of wood.
Fantastic player.
This was my initial reaction after watching the first five minutes of this video. This may or may not be an awesome pedal, but I wouldn't be able to decide that from this video alone. This guy is a serious picker with fantastic attention to dynamics, phrasing, and obviously has a pretty clear idea of what sounds he's hearing in his head and how to get them out of this pedal w/his guitars and rig. That's the problem with most gear demo'd by guitarists of this caliber, quite frankly. This guy is going to get great tone out of whatever rig he sits down with because a) he's that good of a player, but also b) he knows how to get the "right" sounds out of what he's playing through. A fella could sit down with the same guitars, the same amp, same pedal, and if everything is set at neutral, may not have any idea how to approach getting the tone the fella in this video did. Guess it's the long way around saying, until you've played a pedal with your guitars, your amplifier, and most importantly, your fingers doing the picking, you really can't be sure if it's going to be a piece of equipment that works for you or not.
Still a great premise on this pedal, though, and I'm intrigued. I came across it looking for something that can do the Tweed thing with my Super Reverb/Twin Reverb after I tried and skidded the Wampler Tweed '57 after trying for hours to get a sound I liked out of it and failing.
Ok that sounds swaeeeeeet.
Great playing, sadly, I didn't quite bond with the sound of this pedal but at least RJ gave it it's best foot forward! Thank you
I got it and I loved it
RJ & Pete Thorn should do an LP duo project.
Lovely mid!
Ooh, this looks promising.
I need this
Awesome video and obviously awesome pedal 😁😉 can you try the blue from nabla? 🙂 Cheers from Italy
Already have these sounds covered. I’m just here for my daily dose of RJ’s nasty licks
The may already do this because I wasn't aware of this company before this, but if they apply this type of design with Plexi and JTM circuits, my order is/will be in.
Should have taken 15 seconds to Google it before posting, apparently that have the 1987 Plexi
You should check the 1987 then.
Nabla made that pedal to match the Marshall tone. He made an amazing job.
RJ Made a demo about it a few weeks ago
@@TheGasTube yeah, Im in the middle of watching it now, I should have taken the 3 seconds it took to look it up before commenting.
The video just finished after I typed "commenting." The 1987 is EXACTLY what I was thinking about. It's fu@#ing brilliant.
@@timwhite5562 im a pedal/gear reviewer from Italy. I use NABLA pedals since 2018 and im so happy with them :) I love 1987 and Black Tweed because are so different so i can cover almost any kind of distortion tone with them :)
Is the backing track for this video available R.J.?
Sounds pretty close.
Nice pedal but I think this sound has been replicated too often. Amazing playing and the tweaking really reveals how the equipment will perform at home.
What brand of Tele is that in the intro?
www.muleresophonic.com/products/20968-mulecaster
That thing was pretty sweet, I was wondering the same thing.
What color is that strat? And what color is the pickguard on it? Thanks
We need a "Binson" tape echo Italy..come on!
It's like a pearlescent white... Might be that MIJ good morning Strat? Pearloid pickguard.
On the other hand... It's like a faded shell pink.... Hard to say!
What brand slide is that?
It's not the brand. It's the hand.
The Rock Slide. Danny over there does amazing work, I have 4 of his slides.
gotta get me a F hole sticker!!!
Did they change their name to Volta?
Yes, we changed just the brand name. The pedals and the company stay exactly the same. (we believe that the VOLTA name sounds better in English, and there is also a makeup company which had the old name, and customers got confused on socials, expecting to see guitar pedals and seeing lipsticks, and vice versa! 😀)
@@voltacustom Can the sounds coming from the pedal in this video be expected from a completely clean amp? Or does the amp need to have some breakup on its own first?
@@bradh6185 You can play it on a totally clean amp, and have all the saturation coming from the pedal. You can hear RJ clean tone at 5:50. You can also plug the pedal into the "return" of your amp, because it is a real preamp.
