- Hey everyone. Hope you're doing well.
This is a slightly different episode that focuses on Lego however, with a twist of science to it. In particular we are talking about electricity and chemistry in this episode.
So, my Lego battery pack that I use for Lego cars and other Lego projects stopped working. And while trying to figure out what was wrong with it - it turns out that the battery pack's batteries (alkaline) leaked inside the battery pack - which corroded the battery terminals (also known as battery contacts) there by cutting off the ability to conduct current through the battery pack to the motorized functions motor.
So, I researched on this topic and tried a solution that works. And thought that I'll make a video on this aspect to help others with a similar issue. This is not just limited to Lego battery packs however, any battery pack that has stopped working due to alkaline battery corrosion.
I was able to rescue my Lego battery pack and it only took me 4 hours to complete this. I hope this video helps you achieve a similar outcome and you're on your way to doing your Lego power functions project in no time.
Hope you enjoy this video and wish you a scientific win! Take care and keep building.
Note and disclaimer: During this video I have used two chemicals which are found in almost every home - Vinegar and Isopropyl Alcohol (methylated spirit). In case you feel unsafe about these, are not sure how to use these, or are not comfortable using any of these, please do not proceed with the task of reviving the battery pack. Adult supervision for kids doing this task is highly recommended. I was guided by my parents. This activity is to be taken at your own risk.
Thx for the vid
You’re very welcome! Thanks for your kind words.
🫡 RIP batteries
Yeah 😆 better than broken battery packs
