Came across this by chance after watching Hanna's English language videos - this song is terrific! What a wonderful style, rhythm and meaning to it - bravo!
+Juha J. Hahaha.... Hi Juha. I'm Portuguese, i've never been to Finland although I love Finnish music and also Finnish language actually. My name is Carlos Alexandre (Alex) Carvalho (Karva). I knew Hanna Pakarinen when she represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2007. Since then I became a huge fan of her. In 2010 she released her first Finnish album "Paperimiehen ..." which I simply loved although I don't understand a single word. "Olipa kerran ...;" is also very good but not my fave album from hers (too much electronic I would say). And now this new single which sounds so beautuiful..... Once more I don't have a single ideia of what she is singing about but I know this is a cover version of an old Finnish song, right? Thanks a lot for the attention, Juha. Hugs, Carlos
Hi Alex! I just noticed your comment and since Juha hasn't answered you I thought that I could :) This song is an old Finnish folk song, as you mentioned, and tells about how women have been treated in Finland in the past: the woman who's singing this song tells about how men belittle her and question her intelligence. Also the woman is pregnant and gives birth to a child at the end of the song but the father has already gone far away and doesn't care about the mother and the child at all. I hope my explanation for the message of the song lyrics makes sense! You may have noticed that Hanna has two music videos of this song on her channel. This other one with the music video is very special because she asked her female fans to help her with it. The task was to listen to her version of this song and take a picture of yourself with a piece of paper that has a word on it that describes you and then e-mail it to her. Then she picked her favorite pictures of all the ones she has been sent and those pictures she chose were added or included into this music video. (My picture is right at the beginning of this video and there's a word 'arvokas' = precious on my piece of paper.) And as you can see, this music video was released here on the International Women's day. It's amazing that you have found Hanna and that you like her music! And as a Finn I'd like to encourage you to visit Finland some day :D Hopefully I made sense and this was helpful for you :) Best wishes, Oona
Hi Omppuu! Thank you so much for your attention and patience in writing that explanation, it was really useful. Yeah, due the video and the date it was released i've already suspected the subject of the song but I didn't have a proper knowledge about it. So thank you very very much! Really appreciated! About Hanna Pakarinen, as I told you before, I'm a huge fan of her for 9 years now and I have all of her cds (including the ones that were released before Eurovision) hehe. As a curiosity i waan let you know that in 2010 she was in Portugal for a special gig (unfortunatelly I wasn't there) and if you check her facebook you can see that recently she posted a photo took in Lisbon on May 22, 2016 hehehe..... Funny, isn't it? Once more, thank you so much! Alex
Täällä on tosi hienoja herroja Helsinki täynnä eikun tänne vaan kaikki ovat tervetulleita..täällä on elämää maalla ei ole kun mullikoita...täällä miehet kohtelee naisia kun Dubaissa limosiinillä kot8n ja hauskaa saa kuka vaan osaa pitää...määrin oon joskus käyny Helsingin herrojen kans juhlimassa tosi hyvää jengiä...,
Upea versio Hanna Pakariselta ja bändiltä biisiistä jonka sanoma Vexi Salmen tekstin mukaan on raadollinen. En ymmärrä kaikkia psykososiaalifeministisiä merkityksiä tämän videon taustalla, mutta hienohan se on. Minun äitini on topakka viimisen päälle. :) Sen sanan halusin poimia. Mitä me miehet tekisimme ilman naisia.
I don't speak Finnish, I just like her sound, style and song.
Hieno piisi , jota jaksaa kuunnella Hannan mahtavalla äänellä.
Absolutely amazing! Love Hanna and this language!
Greetings from Ukraine!
😊
No joo joo..ei ole tätä aikaa sanat. Ihana Hanna kuitenkin. Upea biisi jokatapauksessa.
Mieletön tulkinta❤❤. Hannan ääni on vaan puhdasta kultaa ❤

Täydellistä Hanna! Lisää tällaista 😊
Tätä on odotettu pitkään!
Suomen paras artisti, ei epäilystäkään.
Bonuksena vieläpä silmälle perhanan miellyttävä likka.
Hieno tulkinta, lisää odotellessa.
Upea biisivalinta ja esitys Hanna❤👏 Olen kääntänyt englanniksi ja espanjaksi sanoitukset ystävilleni globaalisesti.
mahtava tulkinta upeasta kappaleesta

Perfect!! Congratulations, best wishes from Portugal!
Just want to ask: the song is beautiful but do you know what she sings about? Don't have to but you get my point.
Or is Karva your finnish surname and I just made a fool out of myself. :/

Ikävä kyllä meissä miehissä on koko joukko kusipäitä. Itse yritän olla kuulumatta moiseen joukkoon. Pyydän anteeksi jos en aina ole onnistunut,

Hyvä video ja upea kokonaisuus, hyvä Hanna Pakarinen!

Iivana Nyhtänköljä puolustautui omalla kappaleellaan.
Ei mistään voi tietää :)
Maailman ihanin nainen ja piisi!
Panisin. Tottakai.

Jankuttava biisi, en ymmärrä miksi teit tämän. Toki helposti paras versio. Mut ei mun mielestä yhtään sun biisi.
