Only 2.8K resolution, cropped in, and also few have mentioned it needs really good light to work and when the lighting changes during the scene it can't handle that. And as Parker mentioned there's the white balance issue and edge detection doesn't work well in the Cinematic mode even if it can do 4K @ 24FPS. Spot on review. The 14 Pro makes sense for those who use the Pro RAW in need (when their main camera is left home), and then you post-process. Not bad as a backup, as we know the worst camera is the one that stays home and misses the moment. When camera price and portability is factored in, the 14 Pro makes sense, but relatively few people will use it like this. The 12 MP mode does the pop-maxing post-processing for you and it's what most people will do, and you're right in that case it's not worth it over the 13 Pro. Also, it's generally a good idea to wait for the second (or later) model after a given tech (e.g. sensor) change, if one can resist the urge of upgraditis.
Over sharpening is still HORRIBLE, especially in video... WE NEED an option to reduce the ULTRA SHARPENING that ruins the footage. And keep in mind that UA-cam compresses and smooths things out.
I’m so disappointed to see iPhone has gone down the over sharpening route to fool the people who have no idea about cameras. Over sharpened images are hideous, and iPhone were always good at keeping their pictures looking natural. It’s a shame. The pro raw mode doesn’t have that over sharpening and it looks so much nicer.
This was my thoughts 2 years ago with the 12. I saw no reason to update from my 11 Pro max as the battery life was better on my old phone and 5G is still no really worth it just yet. The 13 came out with the promotion display and a more improved camera and better battery. I was close to upgrading, but held off one more year. I finally pulled the trigger this year because of the trade in deals at my carrier. I’ll probably keep the 14 Pro Max until they come out with the ifold lol! It’s crazy that I also use to upgrade yearly waking up in the middle of the night to preorder. Phones are too good now! Just buy a new case and upgrade your software!
I’m currently using 11 pro & I booked 14 pro max thrice, first time it got cancelled because of stock issue & then I cancelled it twice because every time when I ordered it I felt like I’m just wasting my money, I mean I don’t do much with my phone just few calls, texts, and some entertainment stuff like yt, Netflix etc and my iPhone 11 Pro is working fine even the battery life is good so I feel like I don’t need a new phone right now.. maybe I’ll buy 15 series next year also the new iPhones are crazy expensive in my country new 14 pro max ( 256gb ) costs around 1850$ here and after discount it’s like 1750$ but still it’s a lot of money and the bad part is these iPhones are getting more and more expensive every year.
I’m upgrading from iPhone 11 Pro Max to 14 pro max and then playing the waiting game for the 17 pro or 18 pro. Hopefully my phone will have good trade-in value with my carrier by then 😂
I'm not an apple fan at all but Your brutally honest and straightforward review was thoroughly enjoyed. I watch alot tech channel and your review is clear cut better than than any other big name reviewers. Anyways you earned a new subscriber
Whoa, how have I not seen this channel. There are a few good reviews but they seem subjective. Finally someone with objective facts and straight to the damn point no nonsense information. Thank you x100!!!
Honestly I'm leaning towards the 13 pro upgrading from the 11 pro. I'm looking at around $540 for a lightly used 13 pro or full price from apple for the 14 pro. I wish more reviewers made videos like these though!
woah good luck with that though! a lightly used 13 pro for $540 is a BIG steal! i see them range from $700-800 but rarely $550, and that would be reserved for more tampered models
Honestly bought a incredibly new iPhone 13 Pro Max over the 14 pro and its great. Don’t really need the dynamic island. Never really saw it to be worth it. Battery life is great even with the IOS 16 update and not to mention that pro-motion display is gorgeous. Performance is very similar to the 14 pro sooooo I would honestly recommend picking up the 13 pro. Loved this review/analysis, hit everything square on the head.
exactly, island is just a gimmick you dont need. and they even removed the sim tray lol.. I get it an e-sim has benefits too, but for someone who loves to travel and buys local sim cards often, that zero simcard slot is a no no.
I've waited out with my 11 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Release, but was massively underwhelmed by the actual novelties. So I decided to go for a preowned 13 Pro instead and did not regret a thing, especially not saving some decent bucks. What an awesome device still in 2022.
I agree mostly with your overall perspective on whether or not the 14 pro is worth the upgrade from a 13 pro. I even passed and just upgraded my 128GB 13 pro to a 256gb instead. For my usage, the areas the 14 pro are better aren't worth it. I think you get most of the ipone 14 pro experience with the IOS16 update. The 14 pro is more of a 13 pro S IMO. What I don't agree with is the margin of difference or benefit of the new sensor or 48mp images. There is noticeably less noise on the videos, at least in your samples, and the benefits of shooting with the 48mp are the same as shooting in 4k for cinematic mode. You get more options to edit without a degradation in quality. I've seen many comparisons to a pro raw 12mp iPhone 13 pro pic cropped vs. a cropped 48mp 14 pro pro raw image, and the 14 pro image is undeniably a better image. For people looking for those types of improvements, I think they're definitely there in the iPhone 14 pro.
Thanks for the video. I totally agree with you. As for the CINEMA mode, with the new iOS 16 update, the errors of the edges have been corrected to a large extent and those who know video and photography will know how to play with the aperture and do very good work. Since there are many critics who do not know how to use this indispensable feature of a camera.

I've been a Samsung guy for the last ten years. I can confirm, the 14 pro is a game changer. I can actually see the screen properly flying my drone now in the sun. The gimbal like video and dynamic range is incredible too!
Definitely a review I’ve been waiting for. Pretty sure the 14 is generally not worth it at all for the general public. Also, I’ve been looking through FTFM content and it’s been extremely helpful!
who do you mean by "the general public"? Are you talking about iphone 13 pro users? Because the general public sure as hell dont have iphone 13 pros. For a ton of people who have older iphones this is an amazing upgrade.
Nice, I think I'm definitely going to go for the 13 pro.. it's also way cheaper here in Europe ! The new iPhone 14 here is crazy expensive compared to the previous years.
yup, same here i live in brazil and iphones are crazy expensive over here. I'm still very much in doubt wether to get the 14 pro max or the 13 pro max (from an xs max) but i need to separate usefulness and price-performance ratio from the hype of getting the newest phone hahaha
@@malu2997 If there's a big difference in money between the 2, go for the 13 Pro Max. It's essentially the 14 Pro Max without the dynamic island and "always on display". In fact, the 13 Pro Max has slightly better battery too lol.

I was looking to upgrade my iPhone X and comparing the 13 and the 14 on the site I quickly realized that they’re super similar! Decided to seek help in the form of a video and your review has helped immensely!!! Thank you for being honest and for putting it simply enough to understand specs and stuff :)
Thanks for this Parker. Incredible and clear breakdown of this phone for video and photo. I was about to upgrade, but you helped me to realize I really only need a 13 Pro. Cheers mate!
watching your review first time, and i am simply blown away. The review is awesome and actually stopped me from upgrading 13pro to 14 pro. Much love from India :)
Honestly, the thing I found most useful as an upgrade was the Action Mode. Yes, stabilisation was good - but you started moving more than a basic walk and there's shake. I've run at full speed with Action Mode and it's honestly as good as the actual Gimbal footage of the same shots we were getting earlier that day. But yes in general to white balance, I am so tired of a "Pro" camera without Pro features outside of 3rd Party apps.
Currently have the iPhone 11 so any upgrade would be great but the 14 Pro cinematic mode is really the only thing that's making me consider it over the 13 Pro!
Me too sir, but in the end I chose the 13 pro. I just don’t need the cinematic mode. 4k@60 fps is enough. As for the new dynamic island… hmmm.. well it’s cute but not cute at all 😂😂
Great review - thank you! No annoying sound effects/music/etc, to the point, extremely well thought out and tested explanations. Very professional and watchable. Thank you.
I am watching this well after the 14 is released, I have the 13 pro max. I normally update mine each year but I also looked at the difference between13 & 15 and didn’t feel the value of upgrade )or probably more precisely updating) was there, your video here confirms my view of several months ago… thanks heaps!
Same here I just bought a Alpine Green iPhone 13 pro and love coming from an 8 plus the phone already has more features than I probably will use anyway. Also I played around with the 14 pro and really could not get on with the hype regarding the dynamic island. Its like they moved the notch bit lower and the little screen above it is pretty much useless and using the island is just another extra step so that's a no for me. Also the 48mp camera is actually the same lens as is in the 13 pro but with software making it 48mp( this according to a camera specific UA-cam who went in depth regarding the camera's it's also not always on only when shooting in raw)
@@davidvandord Omg same !!! Coming from a heavy 8 plus user to the 13 pro max. That little space above the dynamic island is literally useless unless you have that Reddit pet 🤣🤣
Hey hope you ladies and gentlemen realize it doesn’t matter who likes the phone or not its either meant for you or it isn’t maybe the last one is better for you maybe the next one but only you can make the final decision😊
Thank you so much for this review. After buying a refurbished iPhone X for my wife (to replace her iPhone 6 that still works) I am seriously considering purchasing a refurbished iPhone 13 Pro rather than the new 14 Pro. It will save heaps financially and I have had many good experiences with pre-loved camera equipment and music equipment in the past. As long as you take care and know what to look for there is no reason a 2nd hand iPhone should not last a few good years. Once again, thank you, this helps a lot! Dave from down-under
I was excited when I read about the new, larger 48 mega pix sensor and the improved low light capabilities for all lenses. But then I realized the tele and ultra wide are “only” better because of the new picture processing software - hardware basically the same. Also the low light improvement from the new main camera seems to be underwhelming compared to the 13 ProMax. Thank you for that honest review! I wanted to upgrade, but I’m skipping this for the first time in years. Dynamic Island, crash detection and satellite message ain’t something I’m falling for.
Does anyone else think the thumbnail is a perfect demonstration of how Apple changes almost nothing every year except the size and in this case the screen? Of course it is not worth the upgrade maybe for iPhone 3 users but the majority no also when there's nothing left to change they should just not release a phone for that year until they get a considerable change that strategy should be done by all phone brands in my opinion
I love my 13 pro max. I will keep it until the 16 comes out . I will replace my battery as needed 💯 because with this phone . It is actually worth the upkeep 🙌 I haven’t had one issue with this phone since I had it and couldn’t be happier with my purchase !
I'm keeping my 13 Pro Max until iOS 20 is released. I believe that would be the last update that the 13 Pro Max will receive. Once the final update is sent out, I'll upgrade to the iPhone Pro max (if they're still calling it that) that's released that year.
First time on the channel, attracted by no-BS name of video and the content backs it up. Like how he dismisses stuff that's marginal or not worth upgrading for, while other channels are losing their minds over things like Dynamic Island etc. Personally got a 13 Pro and saved £400.
Continue giving honest reviews love it, definitely subscribing and I knew it wasn’t worth upgrading. I see UA-camrs on Insta who had the 13 pro/max and the pictures and videos were so better indoors and outdoors vs now that they upgraded to 14 pro . I was like yikes Apple dropping these phones too fast
I only wait to see your iPhone review because I'm a camera guy myself, I love your reviews because you do have your opinion about it rather than advertising it
I am subscribed. Your video is the most honest I’ve seen on UA-cam in a while. You didn’t add a bunch of fluff and your title reflected the content exactly. Thank you. I have the 13 Pro also and don’t believe the upgrade is worth it. I do shoot dedicated film and digital pro cameras so the 14 Pro camera wasn’t a factor in my decision.
Thanks for your review. I was tempted to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max, mainly because I felt I just had to have that new phone. After watching this video review, I’m taking your advice and will wait for the 15. Thanks again.
Very good video! I thought i was going crazy, every single shot i take with my 14 Pro Max is fuzzy/noisy, any time i take a picture and zoom in after the fact it looks awful. I never had this issue on my 13 Pro Max and just about everyone i know with the 14 Pro Max says the 13 Pro Max took better pictures. The only benefit of the 14 Pro Max to me is the brighter screen, which is why i upgraded, but i didn't know i would be sacrificing my damn camera doing so. Like you said in the video, its like Apple took two steps backwards in the camera department. And for everyone saying well the new 14 Pro Max has a faster chip, who CARES? No one can notice the speed difference, i dont ever remember looking at my 13 Pro Max tapping my fingers on the desk, they both seem the same speed to me! Long story short, i just ordered a 13 Pro Max to basically upgrade from my 14 Pro Max. I need some Advil!
I'm just blown away that we're able to get such solid talking head segments out of just an iPhone. Sure, there are better options out there but for social media and other quick content it's perfect!
Agreed, Parker! As an amateur photographer, I do like that Apple finally increased the megapixel count in the 14 Pros, but if it’s not enough to entice me to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max. And like, anything that my phone can’t manage, I have a DSLR that will make up for whatever shortcomings the phone’s camera system has. I personally probably won’t upgrade until the 15 Pro at the earliest.
Exactly, I still rely on my Mirrorless Camera when taking pictures, especially on important occasions, so being annoyed with my iPhone's photos results in a trapezoid. I don't know how to fix it, I tried it many times, the angles and the height but still the same result. Any suggestions, please!!! I always use my Nikon Z6 II for photos.
8:07 i fully agree with you on everything you’ve pointed out, especially with this white balancing issue with apple’s phones. It’s so annoying. A white balance lock and exposure lock without having to focus lock with exposure lock would be greatly appreciated but apple will probably add these features in 2037 and make it look as if they’ve once again revolutionised the camera industry
As always, super helpful video! Was feeling the same but hadn't gotten my hands on the new phone to try out. Appreciate the effort to put this together and share here!
If I didn’t have to pay $450 to get my back glass repaired, I would stick with my 13 pro. For and extra $200 I can get the 14 pro so I just decided to upgrade.
Take my hat off to you, glad we got someone who tells it as it is. These companies should be stop lying and making things sound good on paper when it’s not. Best review I seen on here.
The change in the minimum focus distance is a huge negative for me personally. I’ve never had to adjust my distance so much since apple first introduced portrait mode. It’s not worth changing up my muscle memory for the 14 Pro. Especially since I still absolutely love my 13 Pro Max! Great review and I appreciate you touching on these nuancey topics. It’s the little things that really matter for the day to day.
Nice video. Just subscribed. I have the 13 pro and i am considering to buy the 14 pro just becouse the 13pro feels like an outdated front design. And honestly i love that dynamic island as well as the always on display. And i don’t think that will be major updates next year. I actually think that the 15 pro will look exacly like 14 pro , just they will add a little improved cameras , the new processor witch is already fast enought even on the 11 models still, and the usb-c witch for a lot of Users will be a great update , but not for me , witch i don’t really transfer my data from iphone to pc or laptop so often. Amazing review anyway , keep doing the great work.
So… you’re upgrading because of the notch? Seems a little excessive… if the phone serves no other purpose than being “ good to look at” then this is why apple keeps wining and making minor updates because guys like you are a sucka
4% is about the same as constantly tapping your iPhone to see what’s been going on if you have missed notifications etc….so much better to glance at your phone and see any missed calls notifications etc…. and way better than constantly tapping your screen.
9:04, I was wondering if the 2nd gen sensor-shift OIS would be greatly better than the 1st gen. Thank you immensely for pointing out that the differences are insignificant.

You don’t pay full price just to upgrade the next year. You do the iPhone upgrade program instead. A never ending lease that technically pays off multiple phones but yet you never keep. 😂
Personally not planning on moving past the iPhone 13 Pro. It already has everything I need, I don’t like the dynamic island due to how more intrusive it is when watching videos than even the notch, and I prefer using my physical sim card. Having 120Hz is also good enough for me.
The main camera is an improvement in low light (but not thaaaat much), your 2.5x telephoto lens on the 12ProMax is better in low light, the biggest improvement might be the ultra-wide lens there is a huge jump in low light. It’s up to you if you use cinematic mode in video and scenes in photos. Also the battery should be better.

It would be so easy, I imagine a toggle like “reduce sharpness”. It would be nice!
Can it be updated via IOS?
Apple is not going to give us control on that. If we can’t even control the wild super ugly auto white balance… man, I HATE it!!! 🤣😵💫🤦🏻♂️
Very true. This is a deal breaker for me
This was my thoughts 2 years ago with the 12.
Hopefully my phone will have good trade-in value with my carrier by then 😂
@@nuzzky then dont upgrade. Wait for the new color then consider it
I'm not an apple fan at all but Your brutally honest and straightforward review was thoroughly enjoyed.
The 13 Pro is basically the same phone so good for you!
exactly, island is just a gimmick you dont need. and they even removed the sim tray lol.. I get it an e-sim has benefits too, but for someone who loves to travel and buys local sim cards often, that zero simcard slot is a no no.
@@imblitzy That's what people said about no headphone jack and now look where we are.
@@imblitzy yup that's one of the other reasons I picked the 13 pro max. I'm not really ready to go e-sim yet.
I was about to get the ip13 pro max this year due to the slight upgrade on ip14 pro...but there is no more stocks...😭
I've waited out with my 11 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Release, but was massively underwhelmed by the actual novelties. So I decided to go for a preowned 13 Pro instead and did not regret a thing, especially not saving some decent bucks. What an awesome device still in 2022.
Preowned phone is asking for problems later on
I agree mostly with your overall perspective on whether or not the 14 pro is worth the upgrade from a 13 pro.
Usually folks tease the result, you put "Nah" in the title, and it made me LOL and I love it. Parker you rule.
Thank you for sharing this honest, objective review! Appreciate the features you covered and comparing the worth of the upgrades.
Man, you don't know how grateful I am right now! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thank you so much for this detailed side-by-side comparison and review! We're trying to decide which camera to buy for our Salsa classes and this helped so much! Much love from San Diego, CA.
Congratulations you have been selected among our shortlisted winners from our previous giveaway Contact the number above .............................................
Gotta say, love the fact you were straight to the point. Never owned an iPhone in my life but I had to jump in and like soon as you answered the question in the video title AND in the first few seconds of the video.
Love it.
Biggest difference I feel with each gen is the camera. I take a ton of videos on a daily basis. I think Im sticking with my 12 pro max though
Brutally honest and without BS.
The artificial blur on the cinematic mode is very rough. I don't think I would ever personally use it.
You can adjust the depth of field, just dial in a less extreme value that doesn’t cut ears 😅
ThankGOD got my Hands On 13 Pro instead buying 14 Pro its not a major upgrade Honest Review Thumbs up for you
Nice, I think I'm definitely going to go for the 13 pro.. it's also way cheaper here in Europe !
In fact, the 13 Pro Max has slightly better battery too lol.
same here too. because of the exchange rate
@@TheBri87 theres a solid 3000 Brazilian reais difference and I'm really thinking its not worth it. im gonna check if my phone company has any discounts but im definitely leaning towards the 13
@@malu2997 So slightly under a $600 usd difference?? Dude; go with the 13 Pro Max without even thinking twice and save yourself that extra cash.
I was looking to upgrade my iPhone X and comparing the 13 and the 14 on the site I quickly realized that they’re super similar! Decided to seek help in the form of a video and your review has helped immensely!!! Thank you for being honest and for putting it simply enough to understand specs and stuff :)
Which one you getting
Would stick with the 13 Pro. I would wait for the 16 Pro or 17 Pro until we see significant upgrades between the two.
Thanks for this Parker. Incredible and clear breakdown of this phone for video and photo. I was about to upgrade, but you helped me to realize I really only need a 13 Pro. Cheers mate!
And me??? 😮😮😮😢😢😢
watching your review first time, and i am simply blown away. The review is awesome and actually stopped me from upgrading 13pro to 14 pro. Much love from India :)
Finally a review we can trust. Thank you so much for this
Honestly, the thing I found most useful as an upgrade was the Action Mode.
This is why I’m waiting for the 15 Pro. I can’t wait.
As for the new dynamic island… hmmm.. well it’s cute but not cute at all 😂😂
@denimso good point
@@pearllishels6585 True, 4k 60fps is a great feature
Great review - thank you! No annoying sound effects/music/etc, to the point, extremely well thought out and tested explanations. Very professional and watchable. Thank you.
I am watching this well after the 14 is released, I have the 13 pro max. I normally update mine each year but I also looked at the difference between13 & 15 and didn’t feel the value of upgrade )or probably more precisely updating) was there, your video here confirms my view of several months ago… thanks heaps!
That little kid in the sample videos is cute beyond words. You’ve helped me decide to stay with 13!!!! Thank you!!!!
I thought about the 14 Pro, however I decided for the 13 Pro. I am very happy with my 13 Pro.
Stop coping
I like how this guy showed 11 minuets of why you should upgrade to the 14
@@davidvandord Omg same !!! Coming from a heavy 8 plus user to the 13 pro max. That little space above the dynamic island is literally useless unless you have that Reddit pet 🤣🤣
can’t decide whether or not to get the 13 or 14 pro, currently at the 11
I love that each video you’re using a different background. 👍🏼
Spot On!!!Keepin my 13Pro!!!Thanks for the review!!!Good stuff
Hey hope you ladies and gentlemen realize it doesn’t matter who likes the phone or not its either meant for you or it isn’t maybe the last one is better for you maybe the next one but only you can make the final decision😊
Well I upgraded from the iPhone 12 to a iPhone 14 pro and I am loving all the features that the 13 pro and 14 pro include.
the battery life of your 14 pro is good now?
I've recently watched so many videos on UA-cam regarding the new iPhone 14 and this is got to be the best video so far! 👍
The most REAL review out there, great job as always Parker 👊🏻
Thank you for giving us the answer clearly! great video!
1000 videos about the 14 Pro, this one was the best. Thank you for honesty.
13 Promax is an absolute beast, battery is excellent and I can’t tell a difference in the camera on the 14. Keeping mine for at least another year.
I was like yikes
Apple dropping these phones too fast
I only wait to see your iPhone review because I'm a camera guy myself, I love your reviews because you do have your opinion about it rather than advertising it
This will be my first iPhone. So, I'll probably go with 14 Pro. Also, It's a shame they discontinued the 13 Pro. I could have saved myself some cash.
10 second into the video mate and u have just earnt yourself a new subscriber can already tell ur straight to the point with honest answers
Niceee. Unbiased, and that soft edges issue is something probably no one covered online. Kudos, subbed!
Is 450$ worth to upgrade my 13pm to 14 pm by trade in…?
Take my hat off to you, glad we got someone who tells it as it is. These companies should be stop lying and making things sound good on paper when it’s not. Best review I seen on here.
Amazing video as always! It's amazing how good iPhone cameras are in general! Cinematic mode really needs improvement though!
Thats exactly the video I was looking for... You have given a clear verdict and I am not upgrading from my iphone 13 Pro. Thanks a lot.
When using 48mp ProRAW, the difference is a night and day!
The dynamic range is insane for a phone!
I love it.
True reviews should be looking like this one, honest, unbiased, no bullshit.
Dynamic Island made me upgrade from iPhone 13 Pro and I am surprised.
Thank you Parker for your review... Practical, down to earth, and real where it really matters.
I love that he flashes the Iphone 7 plus when mentioning the Iphone 6! Great start!
Finally! An honest review! You got a new subscriber! I’m upgrading from the 11.
Still using my 12 Pro
4% is about the same as constantly tapping your iPhone to see what’s been going on if you have missed notifications etc….so much better to glance at your phone and see any missed calls notifications etc…. and way better than constantly tapping your screen.
9:04, I was wondering if the 2nd gen sensor-shift OIS would be greatly better than the 1st gen. Thank you immensely for pointing out that the differences are insignificant.

No fluff, just an honest opinion and fair observations. Much appreciated. Best review.

0:19 that’s a 7 not a 6
this is the most honest review i’ve ever seen on youtube 👑
So I have a 12 Pro Max and It is my main camera… how worth it would the upgrade to the 14 Pro Max be?
The main camera is an improvement in low light (but not thaaaat much), your 2.5x telephoto lens on the 12ProMax is better in low light, the biggest improvement might be the ultra-wide lens there is a huge jump in low light. It’s up to you if you use cinematic mode in video and scenes in photos. Also the battery should be better.
Wait for the 15 Pro Max
@@xEuryale you mean the iphone 15 Ultra
Just wow, this video is incredible!!!
thanks, between Prores and Cinematic mode, which one would you use? Is it worth to take Prores video for better quality?

It's actually best review I've seen. I'm from Russia but with your accent I can watch without caption. Also , reviewers from my country don't highlighted things you said about. Thank for this video. Your son is a star of this video😂
Up to this day I still use my iPhone 7 plus... lol. I know it's time to say adios to this ancient device since apple has basically ended its support on this model. I'm still torn on what to choose for an upgrade, 13 pro max or 14 pro max? ... then wait another 3-4 years for another upgrade. haha! 14 pro max isn't even available yet in the Philippines... 3rd world problems :| Any advice?
