  • Hey Guys! Here are the heat shrink wrap bags we used: amzn.to/2YlYRKX
    Its chicken plucking party day! We are butchering chickens without a plucker, we are plucking by hand the old fashioned way. Going back to Simpler Times. This is low cost, minimalistic chicken butchering. All you need is a good sharp knife, a pot, a heat source and a string, Oh and a chicken to butcher! 😛 🐓

    Thanks for the video. We don't have any equipment and most of the videos on UA-cam show how to do it with a professional setup. We have a turkey and we hadn't actually planned to butcher it but it injured its leg and hasn't been able to move going on a week now. I can't see it having any sort of quality of life at this point so I figure might as well put it down.

      @@JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife It's 5 acres of trees, OGP. I care for my Mom (89) here in Texas and can only break away for 1 week a month to clear what little stuff I can. My neighbors with bigger chainsaws have helped a great deal. What a blessing! Couldn't work in the heat, so this month the 10x14 shed has got to get installed so I can get out of the tent. Hope to get back up there in Oct and probably will have to wait til Spring to work again. Also hope to make major progress towards a foundation for a building to live in. Maybe by next fall? It's in the lord's hands, and He has the purse strings for this widow.

    Just found your page and I am wondering if yall give what you don't eat from the proccessed chikens to a dog or neighbor that wants to feed their dogs? I have a livestock gaurdian dog and I am looking into butchering our own chickens but won't probably eat any organs or neck and thinking i could give it to my dog. Do you have any thoughts?

    • @JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife
      @JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife  2 роки тому

      yes do it! We do, organ meats are rich so i would limit to one a day. my dogs love the necks! I save the hearts and livers for them. the only thing is to make sure they learn not to swallow whole.

      they were a little tight on some of the kosher kings we did the second time around, bc they are bigger birds. They work great and we use them every time!

    Firstly did you pre-stun the chickens prior to bleeding out. Secondly hang the birds up by their legs and wear rubber gloves, marrigolds and the feathers come off in seconds.

      Don't forget all the wild animals that are murdered by the combines when they cut down the wheat, peas, beans, corn etc ... , at least this is more humane. God gave us animals and plants to live off of. I believe if you are willing to eat it, you should be willing to raise it, grow it, care for it, respect it, and thank God for it. When the economy crashes and food is scarce you can NOT self sustain and survive with out animal protein. Im sorry, but you can not. No need to be sorry, I am no more special than you.

      @Jesi Davis - Building a Simpler Life also, those plants are alive before we eat them. Even if we could eat dirt or rocks, they also have living organisms in them. I'd love to hear from poor baby Bruni what she eats that wasn't alive. I'm sure it's a very short list.

      @@JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife Hi, my (13) Ranger chicks are a week old getting ready to move them into their new home. My other chickens are ten weeks old and really nice (white Rocks like my grandma had when I was a small boy, NewHampshire Red, and Buff Orpington) the unwanted boys are nearly ready to process. Getting ten Cornish Cross to have some variety and to determine what works best for us as the poultry industry has issues and the commercial food industry is poisoned by the Government.. The Dr told me I still need to eat some meat even if beans are a decent protein.. All the haters do not understand these animals are bred for one purpose just like corn and soybeans, its not inhumane or savage.
