Happy, flirtatious and exuberant best describe Samba dancing. The Samba comes from Brazil and is considered the dance of celebration and joy at Carnival celebrations in Rio. Its quick rhythms and steps are danced to Brazilian musical instruments called the tamborim, chocalho, reco-reco and cabaca. The "Samba Bounce Action," gives the dance its unique look and feel. It is a gentle, rhythmic action felt through the knees and ankles that should appear effortless and carefree, without being too exaggerated. This bounce action can be difficult to master, but really adds to the overall character of the dance.

Guys, be nice! Yes, I agree this is not basic Samba, but it is an aspect of Samba. We need to appreciate her effort. When you put a PhD holder in a class full of 4 year olds, there is bound to be a complication.

Yes it does. Did you even watch the full video? When she deconstructs it and slows it down, it doesn't look how it looks when it's fast. Learn to watch the full video before you judge. Also, there is more than one style of samba.

:D Great video!! This is the best video I have seen. I think this video may be more for those that already have rhythm and know how to dance, cuz I got it right away. Some need more help with the footing or getting rhythm, but THIS worked EXCELLENT for me! :D Thank you thank you!
You aren't that wrong but when you are teaching samba dance one sing tip: GIRLS DON'T DANCE WITH THE BACK PART OF THE FEET USED YOUR TIP TOES. We use high heels shoes just for balance. If you dance like that you look heavy and tired.MENS dance with the back part of the feet.

Not a bad instructional video, but I was distracted by the sound of your feet hitting the ground. I have been looking at samba videos for a couple of hours across a few days trying to find one that gave me good directions and I especially like your tip about going down instead of up. That's probably why I can't get them samba down yet! Thank you for sharing!

Ok, for an american she's doing great. Very well indeed. But if you look at a brazilian woman dancing samba she actually doesn't relay on steps like these that she's teaching on the video. It's more natural than that. But anyway, you can learn steps in a day and pass by a good dancer, but to learn the culture behind samba takes years of immersion.

the slowed down version could have definitely been better. I've been dancing samba all my life for one of the largest and most historical samba schools here in Rio and I would never teach someone to samba like this!

Tiene un acierto al hacer énfasis en el cambio de peso que se hace en el primer tiempo, hacia atrás, eso es bien importante para la cadencia del movimiento, así como mantener el peso abajo, sin rebotar hacia arriba. Los pies, por otro lado, sí creo que son un desastre jaja no está indicando los tres tiempos, ni explica cómo se marcan. Los talones se pueden marcar, pero no es el básico. Eso creo...

The problem here is that up to speed it certainly looks like Zamba but she doesn't break it down the traditional Brazilian way. Brazilian Instructors break it down in 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1 being the foot going to the back. She breaks it down in 2-2, kinda weird. But if you listen to her feet at normal speed she clearly does a 1-2-3, 1-2-3, not a 2-2. That's why it looks so awkward slow.
I am also not Brazillian but I know its not even little to close to Brazilian Samba. Sorry girl but dont learn what you cant.
