  • He we go! I am playing through my Atari 2600 collection right off the big screen CRT TV and showcasing some arcade ports in this video. I'll let you know what games are worth playing and which ones you should stay away from and just play the original arcade version. There are many more arcade ports available on the 2600 and this is just scratching the surface. I lived through the days of the Atari 2600 and 70's - 80's arcades... I know what was impressive considering the hardware and what was a cheap knock off just made for a money grab.

Great stuff here! I enjoy your insights and the connection you bring to your memories of when you were a young person.
I was an avid arcade game player at this time as well. I had an Atari back then and agree that most of these games you showed here did a pretty good job of bringing the arcade experience home, considering what they had to work with back than. That all changed when the colecovision came out shortly after, as I think the colecovision did a fantastic job of porting arcade games.
There is a roller controller accessory for the Atari, which I have never tried out. I do have the roller controller for the colecovision and it works pretty good.
    Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I was dying to get a ColecoVision, but my dad got a Color Computer.. oh well. But I was living near the malls and Service Merchandise had one set up. Played plenty of Donkey Kong and Pepper II on it.

Looks like there's some heavy hitters in here, especially considering the hardware limitations. Commando's visuals are surprisingly good even if that gameplay doesn't hold up. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I can respect the graphics produce on an Atari 2600, considering the massive restrictions, but gameplay always wins out. I always appreciate you checking out my channel!
